    Laverne W. Miehm

    Laverne W. Miehm, 57, of 73 John St. West, Waterloo, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, after an illness of seven months. Born July 18, 1905, in New Hamburg, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Miehm. A resident of Waterloo for the past nine years, he was an employee of B. F. Goodrich Canada Ltd., for 34 years. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Waterloo, he was also a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the 20-Year Club of B. F. Goodrich, His wife, the former Pearl Bauer, whom he married July 8, 1933, in Kitchener, survives. Other survivors are three sons, Patrick and Michael of Waterloo and Bruce of Kitchener; a daughter, Sandra, of Waterloo; three brothers, Arthur and Joseph of Kitchener and Harold of London, England; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Hartleib, Mrs. Walter Wunder, Mrs. Harry Seeds, Mrs. Joseph McDermott and Mrs. Paul Brenner, all of Kitchener and three grandchildren. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where prayers will be recited, Sunday, at 8 p.m. Prayers will also be said, Monday, at 9: 30 a.m., prior to removal to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Waterloo, for requiem high mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. D. J. Curtis will officiate.

    MRS. ALEX J MIEHM - Mrs. Alex J Miehm, age 64, 162 Mill street, died yesterday at St. Mary's Hospital following a lengthy illness. Deceased, nee Alvina Koch, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius Koch and was born in Conestogo on Oct. 13, 1874. Surviving are her husband, four sons, Laverne, Arthur, Harold and Joseph, all of Kitchener, five daughters, Mrs. Walter Hartlieb, Mrs. Walter Wunder, Mrs. Harry Seeds and Miss Theressa, all of Kitchener, Mrs. Joseph McDermott of Fergus; two brothers, Euido of Kitchener and Otto of Conestogo, one sister, Mrs. Emil Bierwagen of Kitchener, and 13 grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. George Schreiber and Mrs. Rosina Bartcher, and four brothers predeceased her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home to St. Joseph's RC church at 10 o'clock with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. Remains are at the funeral home.

    John Mihm

    One of the oldest and best known residents of Centreville passed away at his home there at 11.45 o'clock Wednesday, Jan. 3rd, in the person of John Mihm, aged 81 years. Deceased was born in Centreville where he lived all his life. He was widely known carrying on a blacksmith business until some years ago.

    He is survived by seven sons and four daughters, Alex and Charles Mihm of Kitchener, Morris of New Hamburg, John and William of Detroit and Arthur and Nelson of Centreville and Mrs. Herb Sutton of Hamilton, Mrs. George Schell, Kitchener, Mrs. D. Keating of Brantford and Mrs. W. Wheeler of Centreville also two sisters, Mrs. A. Yantz of West Branch, Mich., and Mrs. W. Harriat of Manitoba and 36 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Friday morning at nine o'clock with a service at St. Joseph's R.C. church, Kitchener. Interment will be made at Mount Hope cemetery.

    The funeral of Mrs. John Mihm of Centreville took place on Thursday, Nov. 2, services being held in St. Mary's Church, Kitchener.

    The deceased was born in Kitchener 68 years ago, and had resided at Centreville since her marriage. Surviving her are her husband and seven sons and four daughters, Miss Martha Mihm, Hamilton, Mrs. K. Martha Mihm, Hamilton, Mrs. D. Keding, Brantford, William and John, Detroit; Arthur, Charles and Nelson at home; Mrs. Wm. Wheeler Mrs. Geo. Schell and Alexander, all of Kitchener and Morris of New Hamburg.     MRS. MAGDALENA KISSNER

    Mrs. Magdalena Kissner, 78 died at the home of her son, Charles Kissner, 30 Spetz Street, early this morning. Death followed an illness of eight weeks. Born in Waterloo Township, Dec. 25, 1863, she was a daughter of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Krueger. She is the last surviving member of the family. Her husband predeceased her Oct 19, 1937. Mrs. Kissner was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and took an active part in the Ladies' Aid of the church. Surviving are four sons; Henry, Herman, Fred and Charles, all of Kitchener: three daughters, Mrs. Sadie Crowther, Kitchener, Mrs. George Ringle, Diebolt, Alta., Mrs. Edmund Otterbein, Strasburg. The funeral will be held from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Saturday at 2 p.m. and at St. Paul's Lutheran church at 2.15 p.m. Rev.Albert Orten will officiate. Interment will he in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The remains are resting at the funeral home.

    Golden Wedding Quietly Celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kissner, Kitchener, Mark 50th Wedding Anniversary.

    The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kissner of Kitchener, was quietly marked at their home on Friday Numerous congratulations poured in on the happy couple. Although Mr. Kissner 70 years of age and his wife 71. both still enjoy the best of healh.

    A native of West Prussia, Mr. Kissner emigrated to Canada in 1884 and a year later. he married Mrs. Magdalena Bauer Krueger, who was born. on the Petersburg road. Rev. Anders, pastor of the St. Paul's Lutheran vicinity of Mannheim for several Church officiated. After living in the years, they returned to Kitchener where they have lived ever since. Their family included eight children, three of whom are deceased and 13 grandchildren. Their five remaining children are Messrs. Herman, Fred and Charles of Kitchener, and Mrs. Edwin Otterbein of Strassburg and Mrs. George Ringle of Alberta. The deceased members were Miss Lena and Mr. Willie Kissner and a baby who died in infancy. Mr. Henry Bauer and Mrs. S. Crowther of Kitchener are the children of Mrs. Kissner's first marriage.
