Buehler.- William, son of Urias and Leah (Brubacher) Buehler, was born in Hawkesville, Ont., Mar 16, 1904; died at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Nov. 5. 1982; aged 78 y. In January 1929 he was married to Lavina Bauman, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Melvin, Willard. and Kenneth), one daughter (Martha-Mrs. Sidney Brubacher), 16 grandchildren. 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Maude-Mrs. Edwin Bauman and Susan-Mrs. Charles Moser), 3 stepsisters (Lovina and Anna Brubacher and Harriet Martin), and one stepbrother (Henry Brubacher). He was a member of Hawkesville Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Nov. 8. in charge of Gordon Martin; interment in Hawkesville Cemetery.

He is a farmer and resided in Aldborough Township, Elgin County, near Clachan P.O., for some years, but some twelve years ago he moved to Columbus, Ohio. He is a regular ordained minister of the Mennonite Church, and is married to Leah, daughter of John Sitler. Their family consists of eleven children, namely: Nancy, Menno, Amos, Abraham, Leah, Isaac, Jacob, Susannah, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, and Aaron."

Brubaker. - Abraham B. Brubaker, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., and died Jan. 4, 1912; aged 77 y. 5 d. He was married to Leah Sittler, also of the same place. In the spring of 1871 he moved to Middlesex Co., Ont., at which place he was ordained to the ministry in the Mennonite Church (Wisler), at which place he served until the spring of 1880, then he moved with his family to Columbiana Co., Ont., at which place all but one of his boys live. One lives in Alberta, Canada. In the spring of 1907 he moved back to Waterloo Co., Ont., living with his daughter Leah, and the evening of Jan. 4, 1912, he peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, leaving to mourn his departure his companion, 6 sons, 5 daughters, 47 grandchildren and about 21 great-grandchildren, and many friends, but not without hope. He was a good husband and father, and always had a word of encouragement for all that came in contact with him. The last year he was too feeble to fill his place in God's house in person, but in mind and spirit he was with all God's people. By a son^.

In Oct. 1809 the first organized school in this Eby settlement as Berlin was then called and probably the 2nd in Waterloo was opened in a small log house near Indian Sam'l Eby residence now known as Jacob Fry's old place. Benj. Eby, Joseph Schneider, Geo. Eby, Indian Sam, Jacob Erb & others engaged one John Beatty a native of Ireland as the first teacher. Afterwards in 1813 the school was moved into Eby's meeting house where Bishop Ben. Eby taught for many winters.<sup>1a

John S. Brubacher, "(known as Cooper Brubacher) son of Abraham and Mary (Sherk) Brubacher, was born in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, U.S., August 12th, 1807. In 1828 he came to Canada and took up land along the Conestogo River. His farm was composed of lot No. 40, German Company's Tract, Woolwich Township, about one mile west of St. Jacobs. Here they resided until his death which took place October 1st, 1887. On November 24th, 1830, he was married to Elizabeth Burkhard who was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, November 9th, 1808. She came to Canada with her parents when about 12 years of age and died June 23rd, 1881. They had a family of ten children"
