    William Schack

    A native of the Island of Riga, William Schack, 73, of 28 Brunswick Ave., died yesterday at the K-W Hospital. He was a machinist at the Waterloo Manufacturing Company, Ltd. Mr. Schack was born Sept. 14, 1879, son of the late John Schack and Fredericka Kruse. He came to Canada when he was nine. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and St. Paul's bowling club. He started work as a button dyer at the Shantz Button Company and later worked at Dominion Button Manufacturers, Ltd. Ill health forced him to seek other employment. Surviving are his wife, the former Ida Bierwagen; two sons, Helmuth of Caldwell, N.J. and W. Elmer of Evansville, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. John McColl of Kitchener; one sister, Mrs. Anne Schedewitz of Kitchener; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son, Wilfred, died before him. The body will be at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until 12: 30 p.m. Wednesday when it will be taken to St. Paul's Church. The funeral will be held at 2: 30 p.m., with Rev. Arthur Eissfeldt officiating. Internment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

    Mrs. William Schack

    A resident of Kitchener for 77 years, Mrs. William Schack 79, of 147 Simeon St., died Thursday at K-W Hospital after a lingering illness. Born in Germany, Aug. 20, 1879, Mrs. Schack was the former Ida Bierwagen, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bierwagen. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and belonged to the Golden Age Group and Ladies Aid. Surviving are two sons, Helmuth of New Jersey and William of Huntingberg, Ind.; one daughter Mrs. John (Florence) McColl of Kitchener; four brothers, Emil, Theodore and Robert of Kitchener, and Paul of Cliffside, N. J.; four sisters, Mrs. Bert (Minnie) Hoffstetter, Mrs. Harvey (Martha) Weise, Mrs. George (Hulda) Israel and Mrs. Walter (Emma) Bacher, all of Kitchener; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Schack was predeceased in 1953 by her husband, William Schack, whom she married May 15, 1901, in Kitchener, and a son, Wilfred, who died in 1925. Mrs. Schack is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until removal to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Monday. Rev. Arthur Eissfeldt will conduct the funeral service at 3: 30 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

    Robert J. C. Bierwagen

    One of Kitchener's pioneer general contractors, Robert John Carl Bierwagen, 83, passed away today at the home of his daughter, 11 Sheldon Street South, after an illness of four months. Mr. Bierwagen, who erected many of Kitchener's homes, was born in Germany and emigrated to this country 55 years ago. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. For the past six years he had been residing with his son, Robert, near the family homestead. Surviving are five sons, Emil of Kitchener, Paul in Grandwood, N.J., Theodore and Robert of this city, five daughters, Ida, Mrs. W. K. Schack, Minnie, Mrs. B. Hofstetler, Martha, Mrs. Harvey Weis, Hulda, Mrs. George Israel, Emma, Mrs. W. Bacher, all of Kitchener, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the home of his son, Robert, 116 DeKay Street, at 2 o'clock and thence to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for service at 2: 30. Internment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Orzen will officiate.

    Mrs. Robert Bierwagen

    The death of Mrs. Robert Bierwagen, took place this morning at the residence, 213 Waterloo street. Mrs. Bierwagen has been ill for about three weeks and death was due to heart trouble. The deceased was 75 years old and attended the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was born in Zorko, Germany, in 1855, and came to Canada 49 years ago. She was married in 1878 and is survived by her husband, four sons, Emil, Charton street, Kitchener, Paul, Jersey City, N.J., Theodore, Edward street, Kitchener, and Robert, Dekay street, Kitchener, five daughters, Mrs. W. Schack, Preston road, Mrs. B. Hofstetter, Strange street, Mrs. H. Weiss, Shanley street, Mrs. George Israel, Charon street, and Emma at home, also 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Monday, at the residence at 2 p.m. to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2.30 p.m. Internment will be made at Mount Hope Cemetery, Rev. A. Orzen officiating.
