    Passed away at his residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg on Sunday September 2, 2012. He was born 88 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the son of the late Rudolph (Rudy) S. & Sarah (nee Kropf) Roth. Nelson farmed at R.R.#2 New Hamburg and later worked for The Knechtel Corporation.

    Beloved husband of 67 years of the late Selma (nee Bender) Roth who predeceased him July 19, 2012. Dear father of Ralph & wife Margaret Roth of Tavistock, Renee Schmidt of Wellesley and John Schmidt of Listowel and Rudolph (Rudy) Roth of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Randall & Carrie Roth, Rosalee & Brent van Staalduinen, Russell Roth, Ryan & Melissa Roth, Andrea Schmidt & Brian Thomas, Melanie & Jeffrey Hall and his great-grandchildren Benjamin Roth and Kayle Roth.

    Survived by sisters and brothers Florence Baechler, Harvey & Hilda Roth, Wallace & Betty Roth, Viola & David Brubacher, Earlus & Delores Roth.

    Nelson was predeceased by his brother Raymond & Clara Roth , brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Earl Baechler, Olive Roth, Teresa Soroka, Rudy & Elfrieda Steinman , Willis & Laura Lichti, Dan & Agnes Bender, niece Marlene Baechler, nephew William Licti and nephew-in-law Ronnie Benedict.

    Nelson was a member of Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly.

    Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Wednesday September 5, 2012 from 7-9 p.m.. The interment will take place on Thursday September 6, 2012 at 2: 00 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Cemeterry, Baden. The funeral service to celebrate Nelson's life will follow at 3: 00 p.m. at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg with Pastors Chris Gatton & Sherri Martin Carmen officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society or the charity of one's choice.

    CRESSMAN, Grace Kathleen Passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at her residence, for close to 25 years, the People Care Centre, Tavistock. She was born 77 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the daughter of the late Elam and Alvina (Roth) Cressman. Dear sister of Doreen Cressman and Jim and wife Sandra Cressman, all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her nephews Jeff and Stacey Cressman, Daryl and Kristen Cressman, niece Anna and Kevin Thompson and great-nieces Carley, Mackenzie, Madelynn and Katelynn.     Roth.- Sarah Kropf, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Roth) Kropf, was born in Virginia on May 9, 1899; died at Maples Nursing Home, Tavistock, Ont., Feb. 11, 1989; aged 89 y. On Nov. 15, 1921, she was married to Rudy S. Roth, who died on June 24, 1978. Surviving are 5 sons (Nelson, Harvey, Wallace, Raymond, and Earlus), 2 daughters (Florence Baechler and Viola Brubacher), 25 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 14, in charge of Fred Lichti and Elmer Schwartzentruber; interment in the church cemetery.

    Death of Jacob B. Roth

    Another of the old pioneers of this district was called to his eternal rest when Mr. Jacob B. Roth passed away very suddenly at his home on Jacob Street on Tuesday noon, June 2nd. He was up and around as usual, but he was suddenly stricken with paralysis shortly before noon and passed away about one o'clock. In his death there is removed from this sphere a man of outstanding virtues, having lived a life of true Christianity. Endeared to a very large circle of friends through his pleasant, kind and unselfish ways, his many deeds of neighborly kindness will never be forgotten and his memory will be revered. The deceased was a faithful adherent of the Amish-Mennonite Church and a constant attendant at the church services. For many years he farmed on Bleams Road, but for the past nine years lived retired in town. The late Mr. Roth was born near Baden on April 2nd, 1852, and thus reached the age of 79 years and 2 months. He was thrice married. On May 2nd, 1875, he entered into the holy bonds of matrimony with Catharine Gordner, who died eight years later. On January 12th, 1884 he entered his second matrimony with Magdalena Eiman. This union was blessed with one child which died in infancy. After the death of his second wife in 1892 he married a third time on September 19th, 1893, Veronica Streicher. To them were born four sons. One son, William, was accidently killed by a falling tree while cutting wood in the bush. His sorrowing widow and three sons are left to mourn his demise. The children are, Samuel S., near Baden, Rudy and Moses on the homestead. He also leaves ten grandchildren, one brother, David B. Roth, and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Gordner, both residing in Baden. The funeral will take place from his late home this Friday morning to Steinmann's Church for service followed by interment in the church cemetery.

    Kropf, Elizabeth, daughter of Nicklas and Annie Roth, was born Nov. 29, 1870; died very suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudy Roth, Oct. 27, 1953; aged 82 y. 10 m. 28 d. On March 8, 1886, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kropf, who died eight years later*. She lived in widowhood for 49 years. In her youth she was received into the Amish Mennonite Church and remained faithful until death. Surviving are one daughter (Sarah - Mrs. Rudy Roth), one son (Ezra, East Zorra), one brother (Christian, East Zorra), 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services were held at the East Zorra Church in charge of Moses H. Roth and Henry Yantzi, with burial in adjoining cemetery.

    *This cannot be accurate. It probably should be 18 years later. That would mean he died in 1904. As the above obituary states "she lived in widowhood for 49 years. That would be a true statement since she died in 1953 - 49 years since her husband's death in 1904.

    Kropf. - Christian Kropf was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Sept. 22, 1843. In his early youth he accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Amish Mennonite Church. He was married to Magdalena Iutzi of Waterloo Co., Ont., Nov 22, 1868, which union was blessed with 4 sons and 6 daughters. He was ordained deacon in the Hay congregation in Huron Co., Ont., in 1890 and as minister of the Gospel in the East Zorra A. M. congregation in Oxford Co., Ont., in April, 1902. In this capacity he faithfully served to the end. He died in East Zorra Feb. 18, 1921; aged 77 y. 4 m. 26 d. and leaves his loving companion, 2 sons, 3 daughters, (Noah, Mrs. Noah Brenneman, Nancy, Mrs. Chris D. Roth, Mrs. Jos. J. Bender, and Samuel). Buried at East Zorra A. M. Church on Feb 21. Services at the home by Bro Jacob R. Bender (Mark 13: 28-37) and the church by Bro. Chris Litwiller (Psa. 39), Chris B. Zehr (I Peter 1: 22,25) and Dan H. Steinman (Mark 13: 31,37).
