    Funeral Services Held Here For Late Milton Koehler

    Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg, on Sunday afternoon for the late Milton Koehler, who died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital last Thursday afternoon at the age of 49 years. Rev. H. R. Mosig, assisted by Rev. A. Buehlow, conducted the services, and internment was made in Riverside Cemetery. The late Mr. Koehler was born in New Hamburg on Dec. 16, 1903, a son of the late Fred Koehler and Augusta Marshall, and for the past 30 years had resided in Kitchener, where he owned and operated a butcher shop at his residence on Glasgow Lane. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman, and also active in Chamber of Commerce work in Kitchener. On Nov. 7th, 1926, he married Katie Kropf of New Hamburg, who survives him, along with four sons, Walter, Frederick, Clarence and Milton, of Kitchener, and one brother, Bernhardt (Bert), also of Kitchener.

    Schickler, Catharine (Katie) - Of 88 Adelaide St., Kitchener, passed away peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, May 15, 1986, Catharine Schickler, in her 79th year. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Dear mother of Walter and Frederick Koehler, both of Kitchener and Milton Koehler of Calgary, Alta. Lovingly remembered by sisters, Mrs. Barbara Oakley of Waterloo and Mrs. Lena Bender of Baden and by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husbands, Milton Koehler and Albert Schickler; by one son, Clarence and by a grandson, Glenn; by her parents, Simon Kropf and the former Barbara Albrecht and by four brothers and three sisters. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton and Church St., Kitchener, will begin today (Saturday) at 7 p.m. and continue until 9: 30 a.m. Tuesday, at which time transfer will be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 825 King St. W., Kitchener. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Rev. Dr. Barton Beglo officiating. Internment Riverside cemetery, New Hamburg.     William A. Dammeier

    WELLESLEY - William A. Dammeier, 71, Wellesley assessor and tax collector for 15 years, died at the K-W Hospital today following a heart attack outside his home last night.

    Mr. Dammeier was born Jan. 26, 1890, in Wellesley Township. He farmed in the township until 1949 when he moved to Wellesley and worked for the Cook Construction Company Ltd.

    Mr. Dammeier was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Ada Moser; a son, Ralph of Bamberg; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Marie) Koehler of Kitchener, and Mrs. Gordon (Laurine) Cook of Stratford, and a sister, Mrs. John (Emma) Hoffman of Wellesley. There are eight grandchildren.

    The body will be at the Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley, from 7 pm tonight. Removal will be made Monday, at 1 pm to St. Mark's Lutheran Church where the funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Elmer Oleson at 3 pm. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Death of Frederick Koehler - A well-known resident of New Hamburg passed away last Friday in the person of Mr. Frederick C. Koehler, at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 10 days. The deceased was stricken with jaundice about two months ago and other complications set in, which were the cause of his demise. The deceased was born in Kitchener on February 13th, 1877, where he attended school and received his church training in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. He was married on November 7th, 1899, to Augusta Marshall, of New Hamburg. He moved to New Hamburg in 1901 and started a teaming business here and later acquired a farm. Being of an exceptionally cheerful disposition he made many friends and in his work about town he became well known to the children by whom he was much liked. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Besides his sorrowing widow he leaves two sons, Bernhard and Milton, both of Kitchener, two grandchildren, besides his aged mother, one brother William and one sister, Mrs. John Brinkert, all of Kitchener. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon to Trinity Lutheran Church, where the funeral service was held by the pastor, Rev. H.R. Mosig. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery. A large concourse of relatives and friends assembled to pay the last tribute of respect to the departed.

    Mr. Simon Kropf

    Death came with startling suddenness to Mr. Simon Kropf of this town last Thursday afternoon, October 6th. He was hauling in corn from the field of Mr. Joseph Bender, which is also the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bender. He was bringing in a load of corn and when the horses stopped a short distance away from the barn his son-in-law and others went to see what was wrong and found Mr. Kropf dead on the load of corn stalks. A doctor was immediately summoned to the scene and he pronounced death due to a sudden heart attack. The remains were taken to the house and were late removed to his home on Moyer street in New Hamburg. The late Mr. Kropf was born near Wellesley on November 22nd, 1875. In October 1897 he married Barbara Albrecht. They resided near Poole until about seven years ago where they moved to New Hamburg. In religion Mr. Kropf was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church. He leaves to mourn his sudden demise, his wife, four sons and five daughters, namely; Joseph, of South Easthope, Ezra, Alvin and Albert at home, (Lavina) Mrs. William Pauli, of New Hamburg, (Clara) Mrs. Herman Krueger, of Kitchener, (Fanny) Mrs. Noah Ruby, of Millbank, (Katie) Mrs. Milton Koehler, of Kitchener, (Lena) Mrs. Ivan Bender, of Wilmot, and Miss Barbara of Mimico. Four brothers and four sisters also survive, Mrs. M. Leis, Miss Mattie and Miss Anna, of Wellesley, and Mrs. Christian Litwiller, of New Hamburg, Rudy of St. Agatha, John of St. Clements, David of Waterloo and Christian, of Kitchener. The funeral took place on Sunday forenoon from his late home to the Poole A.M. Church and Cemetery and was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family in their sad loss.

    Milverton, July 13 - The death of Mrs. Barbara Kropf of Waterloo, widow of Simon Kropf, occurred at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Noah Roby of near Millbank, yesterday, at the age of 71 years. Mrs. Kropf had enjoyed the best of health until four weeks ago. A daughter of the late George Albrecht and Mary Hammar, she was born in Ellice Township, June 12, 1874. On Oct. 28, 1897, she married Simon Kropf and they took up residence on a farm near Topping where they lived until moving to New Hamburg in 1926. During the past two years Mrs. Kropf has lived in Waterloo. She was a member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1932 and one son, Joseph, in 1933, and she is survived by three sons, Ezra, Alvin and Albert of Waterloo, and six daughters, Mrs. William (Lavina) Pauli, New Hamburg; Mrs. Noah (Fanny) Ruby, Millbank; Mrs. Herman (Clara) Kreuger, Mrs. Milton (Katie) Koehler and Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Oakley of Kitchener, and Mrs. Ivan (Lena) Bender of Woodstock. One sister, Mrs. Jacob Kuepfer of Tavistock, 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Four brothers and three sisters predeceased her. The funeral will be held on Sunday with private service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby, near Millbank at 1: 30, followed by public service at Poole Amish Mennonite Church at 2: 15. Internment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Christian Schultz of Poole will conduct the services.

    A. P. DAMMEIER was born in the year 1860 on Lot 6, Concession 14, eastern section of Wellesley Township, where he is still living. His father was one of the pioneers coming from the vicinity of Hespeler and located on the farm now occupied by his son in the early forties, hewing out a home for himself and family in what was then a vast wilderness. Mr. Dammeier was first elected to the Township Council in 1904, and has since discharged the duties appertaining thereto very satisfactorily.
