    James (Jim) Harold Gordon of Kitchener passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at his residence. He was in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Carothers) Gordon for 57 years. Loving father of Linda and her husband Wayne Bethune, James (Jim) and his wife Trisha Gordon all of Ayr, Cathy and Derrick Arndt of Kitchener, Susan Bethune of Paris and Diane and Art Drover of Preston. Dear grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grand-children. Dear brother of Bruce and his wife Carole Gordon of Thamesford, Harold and his wife Fran, Alice Hinschberger, Don Gordon all of Kitchener. Predeceased by parents Harold and Ella Gordon, sister Eleanor Gordon and brother George Gordon. Jim owned and operated Gordon Fine Foods Restaurant for 7 years in Ayr. He was also a member of the Ayr Curling Club and Masonic Lodge. Funeral mass to take place to-day (Wednesday) at St. Anthony Daniel's RC Church at 1 p.m. Father Earl Talbot officiating. Interment Ayr Cemetery.

    GORDON, Mary - Passed away peacefully on Sunday July 22, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Jim (2004). Cherished mother of Linda and her husband Wayne Bethune and James (Jim) and his wife Trisha all of Ayr, Cathy and her husband Derrick Arndt of Kitchener, Susan Bethune of Paris and Diane and her husband Art Drover of Preston. Mary was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren and a very special great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her sister Margaret and her husband Morris Hogg of Preston and brothers-in-law Frank Gowing of Galt and Herb Wenk of Tennessee. Predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Gowing, Eleanor Wenk and her brother John Carothers. Mary was a hairdresser in Ayr for over 36 years. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, July 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. Fr. Earl Talbot officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Mary's committal service will be held in the Ayr cemetery following the reception. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society ,the SickKids Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).     Mrs. Clarence Carothers Passes

    A resident of Galt, Mrs. Clarence Carothers, 65, of 11 Victoria Ave., died Thursday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Gowing, 665 Coronation Blvd., Galt. Born in Hopeville, Ont., April 28, 1897, she was a daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Scott. She had resided in Ayr for 18 years before moving to Galt two years ago. Surviving are her husband, Clarence R. Carothers, one son, John, Galt; four daughters, (Mary) Mrs. James Gordon, Ayr; (Eleanor) Mrs. John Singlar, Detroit; (Ruth), Mrs. Frank Gowing, Galt, and (Margaret) Mrs. Maurice Hogg, Preston; two sisters, Mrs. Louisa McEwen, Galt, and Mrs. Mary Dingwall, Guelph; fourteen grandchildren. Mrs. Carothers was predeceased by one brother.

    The Funeral

    Funeral service was held Saturday at the Coutts & Son Ltd. Funeral Home, Galt, with interment in Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Maurice Hogg, Preston; Albert Houghton and John Carothers, Galt; James Dingwall, Guelph; John Singlar, Detroit, and James Gordon, Ayr.
