John Hall and his wife, Sarah Wiggins, came to the Township of Wilmot about 1832. There the father died some ten years later, when his widow and the family soon afterward came to Pilkington.

In this family there were: Edmund Hall married Ann Ford; Thomas Hall married Ann Buckler; Mary Hall married William Betchen; Henry Hall married Elizabeth Howse; Joseph Hall married Maria Ford; Hannah Hall married George Morley; James Hall married Mary Elkerton. One thing remarkable about this family is that both husbands and wives came from Aynho.

One of this family, Thomas Hall, was born at Aynho in 1811, and came to Canada in 1827, at the age of sixteen. He stopped for some time in Quebec City and again at Belleville. There he accidentally learned that his relatives had come to Canada and were living in the Township of Wilmot, so he made his way to them. He married in Wilmot township and remained there until the year 1846, when he came to Pilkington.

The children of Thomas Hall and Ann Buckler were: Henry, who, with his wife, who was Sarah Bye, is living in Bethany; two sisters are Mrs. Thomas Luckitt, in Elora, and Mrs. Robert Mason, in Guelph Township.

The Betchen family first settled in the Township of Wilmot. They were from Switzerland, where the father had been a watchmaker and a bandmaster. The family were all musical and were said to have played the first band music in Galt.

William Betchen was married in Wilmot to Mary Hall, and came to Pilkington to be near her relatives. In this family: Mary Ann married Henry Patmore, lately in Elora, now at Cranbrook, B. C, (she died in Elora); John Betchen, living on the old farm; David married Miss Colbeck; Hannah mar- ried Rev. William Baugh; Joseph married Lottie Boulding; Kezia married Henry Boulding; Jabez married Robina Simpson.
