    HUSSEY, Vardon Marshall - Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in his 85th year. Will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Hallman. Beloved father of Betty Dettwiler and her husband Cliff of St. Clements, Donald and his wife Cindy of Drumbo. Loving grandfather of April, Chad, Troy, Tiffany and Nathan, and his great-granddaughter, Grace. Also survived by his sister, Doris Cress of Roseville. Vardon was born in Roseville on September 11, 1924, and had resided in Cambridge over 60 years. A member of Central Presbyterian Church, former member of the choir and elder of the church. A member of Preston - Hespeler Probus Club, David Durward Centre for seniors and the Retiree Coffee Club. Mr. Hussey was retired from management after 38 years with Frederick Transport of Dundas. The family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held from the chapel on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. Aubrey Botha officiating. Interment Roseville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Lung Association - Waterloo Region or Central Presbyterian Church Roof Fund would be appreciated by the family.     HUSSEY-HALLMAN

    Grace Evangelical church, RoseVille, was the scene of a lovely wedding solemnized at 2.30 this afternoon when Dorothy Elizabeth Hallman became the bride of Var-don Marshall Hussey. The altar of the church was decorated with pink and white 'mums and ferns for the ceremony, performed by Rev. C. Kauth of Roseville. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hallman, Cedar Creek road, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hussey, Roseville road. Given in marriage by her grand-father, Alvin Hallman, the bride wore a floor length white satin gown styled with a fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and short puff-sleeves. The net overskirt fell into a gracefull train, and her finger-tip veil was caught with white satin bows and a net headdress trimmed with orange blossoms. She carried an arm bouquet of Bettertime roses wtih streamers of white satin, tied with red roses. Attending the bride were her sister, Mrs. James Purdy of Hes-peler and the groom's sister, Miss Doris Hussey of Galt. The matron of honor wore a fitted pink sheer gown, and her shoulder length veil was dotted with silver sequins and held by a headdress of pink roses. A similar-gown in blue taffeta was worn by the bridesmaid whose veil was dotted with blue sequins and held by blue forget-me-nots. They carried similar bouquets of Better-time roses. white 'mums, and ferns. Jack Furlong of Camp Borden, a cousin of the groom, was best man. and the ushers were .Elton Hallman. brother of the bride and James Purdy of Hespeler. The soloist, David Rife, sang "I Love You Truly" before the ceremony and "O Perfect Love" during the sign-ing of the register. He was ac-companied by Dorothy Warner of New Dundee. a cousin of the bride. A reception for 70 guests was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Hallman received in a gown of navy blue sheer crepe and a cor-sage of roses. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother who wore powder blue sheer crepe with a corsage of roses. The house was decorated with pink and white streamers and a three-tiered wedding cake centred the bridal table. The gift of the groom to his bride was a leather hand-bag. For the wedding trip to points west the bride wore a rose wool dress trimmed with gold sequins and brown accessories. On their return the couple will make their home in Galt. Guests were present from Edger-ton, Alberta, St. Marys, Stratford. Galt, Kitchener, Camp Borden, Thorold, Ayr, Woodstock, Hespeler; Preston and Seaforth.

    George Vardon Hussey

    A lifelong resident of North Dumfries, George Vardon Hussey of RR I. Ayr, passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 30th. He was in his 81st year. Mr. Hussey. who resided east of Roseville. retired on the farm where he had lived for 75 year, He and his wife. the former Ina Marshall. had observed their 57th wedding anniversary in April of this year. He was a member of Grace United Church. Roseville. Surviving besides his wife are a son Vardon of Cambridge, a daughter Mrs. Doris Cress of RR I. Ayr, sisters Mrs Minnie Scott of Cambridge and Mrs. Mary Bell Willetts of RR 2. Cambridge: four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral service was held Thursday at the Barthel Stager Funeral Home. Preston. Pastor David Max well officiated. Interment in Roseville Cemetery.

    Mr. and Mrs. George V. Hussey, Roseville road, quietly marked their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday, when they entertained their' family and bridal attendants at a dinner Sunday evening. Prior to the dinner Mr. and Mrs. Hussey were presented with a handsome chest of silver by the Mr. and Mrs. Hussey (Ina Mar-shall) are well known in the com-munity, having farmed on the Hus-sey homestead ever since their marriage, which took place at Blair, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall, April 17, 1924. Mr. and Mrs. Hussey have two children, Doris at home and Vardon of Greenfield road. . Monday evening the bride and bridegroom of 25 years ago *ere completely taken by surprise when approximately 175 relatives and friends met together in their honor in Glenmorris hall for a dance and euchre. During the evening, Norman MacLeod spoke a few words of good wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Hussey, while Lorne Marhsall and Aubrey Pickard presented the couple with two table lamps. Mr. and Mrs. Hussey, with suitable replies, thanked friends and relatives. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing, followed by refreshments. Music was supplied by August Lis-so. William Eagle and Reg. Spencer with Thomas Currie as floor man-ager. Guests were present from Galt, Kitchener. Hespeler, Hamil-ton, Sheffield, Ayr. Brantford, St. Jacobs, Blair, Preston and Rose-ville.

    Mrs. Carrie Elizabeth Hallman of Adam Street, Hespeler passed away in South Memorial Hospital, Galt.

    Born in Waterloo Township on August 17, 1896, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Grieve.

    She was predeceased by her husband Nelson Hallman in 1966.

    Mrs. Hallman was an adherent of Hespeler Baptist Church, member of the Over 60 Club, Hespeler Women's Institute and Senior Citizens Friendship Society.

    Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Vardon (Dorothy) Hussey of Cambridge, Mrs. Joseph (Phyllis) McMahon of Guelph and Mrs. James ( Vera) Purdy of Cambridge: a son Elton of Cambridge; a brother Arthur of Buffalo; a sister Mrs. Harry (Maude) Watson of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    Funeral and committal service were held Sunday at ('ousts and Son Funeral Home, Galt. Interment in Roseville Cemetery.

    Private funeral service for the late Alvin Groff Hallman, RR. 6, Galt, who passed away on Saturday, took place from the Harold W. Gray funeral home, 96 St. Andrew's street, on Tuesday. The private service was followed by public service at Roseville Evangelical church,

    During the service, the choir rendered two hymns, "Good night here and good morning up there" and "Face to face."

    Pallbearers were Alton Hallman, John Hallman, Archie Krieger, Donald Krieger, Vardon Hussey, and James Purdy. The Rev. C. R. Kauth of Roseville Evangelical church officiated. Interment took place in Roseville cemetery.

    GRIEVE, JOHN

    In his 76th year, on Tuesday, June 6, 1944, at his 24 George St. North, Galt home. Mr. Grieve had been ill for the past six months. He farmed in Puslinch for forty-one years. A native of Zion, Ontario, he spent his life in Puslinch, until retiring three years ago. He attended Hespeler Evangelical Church. Survived by his widow, Augusta Gillow; daughters, Carrie (Mrs. Nelson Hallmen) of Cedarcreek Rd. in Galt; Maud (Mrs. Leonard Gordier) of 24 George St. N., in Galt; one son, Arthur of Buffalo; brothers William of the Clyde Rd. ; Louis of Galt; a sister, Mrs. Dougald McKellar of Galt; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The largely attended funeral was held at the Harold Gray Funeral Home on Thursday at 2: 30. Rev. W. J. Walker of Knox Presbyterian Church and Rev. N. E. Dahms of Roseville conducted. Pallbearers: Lloyd Haney, Thomas Watson, John McKellar, Harry Watson, Edward Schmidt and Gordon Schmidt. Flowerbearers: Charles Burns, Vardon Hussey, Elton Hallman, Alderson Carson, Austin Burgess, John Schmidt, Louis Grieve, James Purdy, Jack Gropp, Austin Gropp and Red Roessing(?). Interment Hespeler Cemetery.

    Of 24 George St. N. in Galt, one of Galt's oldest citizens, on April 14, 1969, at Coutts Pavilion in Freeport, in her 95th year. Widow of John Grieve (1944). She was the last surviving member of the Gillow family. Born in Waterloo Township, she resided for forty years in Puslinch Township and for the past twenty-eight years in Galt. She was an adherent of Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt. Surviving are two daughters, Maud (Mrs. Harry Watson) of Galt; Mrs. Carrie Hallman of Hespeler; one son, Arthur J. Grieve of Buffalo; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Service at Coutts and Son Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew's St., Galt on Thursday at 1: 30. Interment Hespeler Cemetery.
