    Foster Kilgour Passes

    Foster Kilgour of 209 Herbert St., Waterloo, died Friday at his home after a brief illness. He was 67. Born in Ayr, he was associated with Waterloo Grocery, now Cook's Superette, Herbert and Union Sts., for 23 years. He was affiliated with First Baptist Church, Waterloo. During the 1920's, he was a violinist at silent movies and founded and conducted the Simcoe concert orchestra. He was a member of the highland Light Infantry Band of Galt. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Kilgour, and a brother, Charles. Surviving are his wife, the former Grace Elizabeth Williams; a son, Keith of Mount Forest; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Eleanor. Beckett of Port Colbourne; two brothers, Bud and Lloyd, both of New Hamburg; a sister, Mrs. George (Evelyn) Bowman of Acton, and five grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother, Lloyd. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. E. Robinson from the R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, on Monday. Burial in Ayr Cemetery.

    Thomas Kilgour Passes Suddenly - The citizens of the town were shocked to learn on Tuesday evening that Mr. Thomas Henry Kilgour, proprietor of the Grand Theatre, died very suddenly at his home on Wilmot Street, shortly after partaking of his evening meal. Death was caused by a sudden weak attack of the heart. Mr. Kilgour's sudden passing is regretted by all and deep sympathy is felt for the sorrowing wife and family in their sudden bereavement. The late Mr. Kilgour was in his 53rd year and farmed successfully near Ayr for many years. Owing to being afflicted with a weak heart he retired from the farm and moved to New Hamburg two years ago, and purchased the local moving picture theatre as well as taking over the rural mail delivery on route No. 1 from the local post office. He delivered the mail as usual on the day of his death. During his two years residence in New Hamburg the late Mr. Kilgour endeared himself to a large circle of friends through his kind and cheerful personality. He leaves his sorrowing widow, four sons and one daughter to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. The children are: foster of Simcoe, Charles of Paris, and Buster, Lloyd and Helen at home. The funeral will be held this afternoon with service at Ayr at 2: 00 o'clock followed by interment in the Ayr Cemetery.

    Mrs. Sarah Kilgour

    Mrs. Sarah Kilgour, 86, former New Hamburg resident, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Bowman, of Acton.

    Born in Mitchell, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woolsey. She lived in Ayr and here most of her life and moved to Acton five years ago. She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church here, the church choir, and the Women's Society of World Service.

    Her husband, Thompson, died in 1929.

    Surviving are three sons, Bud and Lloyd, both of New Hamburg, and Foster of Kitchener; one daughter, Mrs. George (Evelyn) Bowman of Acton; one brother, Joseph Woolsey of Brantford, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    One son, Charles, died five years ago. Two brothers and two sisters also predeceased her.

    The body is at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home until noon Friday when removal will be made to Zion EUB Church for a service at two p.m. Burial will follow in Ayr cemetery.

    Mrs. Thompson Kilgour Passes

    The death occurred in Acton on Monday of a former well-known Ayr resident, Mrs. Thompson Kilgour, aged 86 years. The former Sarah Woolsey, she was a native of Ayr. Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woolsey were among the early residents of the village. Following her marriage, they farmed in the immediate vicinity for many years. Her husband at one time had a prosperous milk route in Ayr which he operated from the "Pinnacle Farm," where Harold Ghent now resides. Their family was born here and received their education at the local school. Mrs. Kilgour was a valued member of the former Methodist Church in Ayr, where she sang in the choir. She moved to New Hamburg many years ago, and more recently to Acton. Surviving are three sons, Bud and Lloyd, New Hamburg, and Foster of Kitchener; one daughter, Mrs. George (Evelyn) Bowman of Acton, and a brother, Joseph Woolsey of Brantford. Funeral service will be held on Friday at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, New Hamburg, at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Ayr Cemetery. Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.

    Death of Mr. Woolsey

    The community was sensibly shocked on learning of the death of Mr. Joseph Woolsey, sr., which sad termination of a brief illness took place at his residence, Stanley St., at 8.45 on Sunday evening, March 18. The deceased was born in County Armagh, Ireland, in 1850. At the age of 24 he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Clulow of the same county, and together they set out for America, tarrying at Mitchell, Ont., for about seven years, and coming to Ayr in 1881, where they have since resided continuously. A steady and industrious mechanic, Mr. Woolsey sought and found employment with the John Watson Mfg. Co'y, a position which he held for nearly a quarter of a century. Of a quiet, unobtrusive disposition, he was sincerely esteemed and respected. In politics he was a Conservative and in religion a member of the Church of England, as well as a member of the Royal Templars. To Mr. and Mrs. Woolsey were born six children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Chisholm Scott, Benjamin and William of Ayr, Mrs. Thompson Kilgour and Joseph of Brantford, and Miss Minnie at home. The news joins a wide circle of friends to extending sincere sympathy to the sorely bereaved family. The funeral took place to the Ayr cemetery on Tuesday afternoon and was quite largely attended the large foundry.

    Demise of Mrs. Woolsey, Sr. - In her 76th Year, 42 of Which Were Spent in Ayr - In Ayr's Centennial year and on the eve as it were of the date set for public recognition of the event, there passed away in the person of Mrs. Joseph Woolsey, Sr., a resident who had spent 42 years in the community, where she reared a large family, was well known and highly esteemed. The deceased, who closed this life at 4.45 on Monday morning, had been ill for some time and had suffered two strokes, one on Nov. 8 and the other on July 4. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Clulow. She was born in Portadown, County Armagh, Ireland, and was in her 76th year. Deceased was united in marriage with Joseph Woolsey in 1867, and came to Canada six years later, settling in Mitchell, Ont. In 1882 the family came to Ayr, where Mrs. Woolsey had resided ever since, her husband predeceasing her 18 years. The family comprises six children, between whom and their mother there was a bond of affection that rendered separation most trying. The personnel of the family is as follows: Mrs. Chislolm Scott, Jas. Benj., Wm. J., Mrs. Thompson Kilgour, all of Ayr, Joseph, Jr., of Brantford, and Mrs. John Taylor of Pittsburg, Pa. Two sisters and a brother also survive. They are: Mrs. W. D. Cuthbertson and Miss Rachel Clulow of London and John Clulow of Stratford. All the children were present at the bedside when deceased calmly and peacefully passed on before. Mrs. Woolsey was a Methodist, and was of a sweet tempered, jovial disposition, a woman whose friendship was sincere and lasting. The funeral took place from her late residence, Stanley Street, to the Ayr cemetery yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. ? The pallbearers were Messrs. John Anderson, R. S. Armstrong, G. W. Dawson, H. Roy Graham, H. Harding and J. W. Hunt.
