    Alex McLeod, Sr., Passes

    A well-known resident of the Ayr community, Alex McLeod, Sr., passed away at his home on the 10th concession of Blenheim on Tuesday night following a heart attack. In his 81st year, Mr. McLeod had been in ill health for four years. A native of Stayner, Ont., he was a moulder and came here 49 years ago to work at the Watson foundry. After following his trade with this firm for some 20 years, he purchased the farm in the west end of the village now owned by his son, Alex Jr. Later he farmed in both South and North Dumfries for some years prior to his retirement. While residing in Ayr, Mr. Mc-Leod took a keen interest in municipal affairs and served several terms on council. He was a member of the Orange and Foresters orders and an adherent of the Baptist Church. Only a few months ago, in December, Mr. and Mrs. McLeod happily marked their. 55th wedding anniversary. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Alex, Jr., of Ayr and Donald of Galt; three daughters, Mrs. William Tomblin (Agnes), Paris; Mrs. Charles Harrison (Jean), Galt, and Mrs. James Runstedler (Alice), Preston; also 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son, William, predeceased him. Funeral arrangements are being completed.

    Funeral of Alex McLeod, Sr. - Funeral service for the late Alex McLeod, Sr., was held Friday at Coutts funeral Home, Galt, With interment in Ayr Cemetery. Rev. W. McDonald of Galt officiated. Pallbearers were: Wallace Gillespie, C. W. Davis, Clarence Leiska, Henry Bechtel, Ralph McMillan and John Welsh.

    Death of Mrs. Alexander McLeod, Sr.

    A well-known former resident of Ayr, Mrs. Alexander T. McLeod passed away at Willett Hospital, Paris, on Thursday in her 83rd year. The former Margaret Ann Robertson, she was born in Simcoe County, near Stayner. Following her marriage to Alexander McLeod, who predeceased her in 1959, they came to St. George, where they resided for several years before coming to Ayr. They lived in this community some 50 years, where Mrs. McLeod was a highly esteemed and popular citizen. She had resided with her daughter in Paris for the past two years. The late Mrs. McLeod was a former member of Christ Anglican Church here, and later of the St. James' Church, Paris. Surviving are two sons, J. Alexander of Ayr and Donald of Galt; three daughters, Mrs. William Tomblin (Agnes) of Paris, Mrs. Charles Harrison (Jean) of Galt, and Mrs. James Runstedler (Alice) of Preston; a sister Mrs. Agnes Sever of Lansing, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, William. - The Funeral - Funeral service was conducted at the Bruce Smith Funeral Home, Paris, on Saturday by Rev. H. K. L. Charlton. Interment took place in Ayr Cemetery chapel. Pallbearers were: William (Bud) McLeod, Gerald Harrison, John Harrison and Ronald McLeod all of Galt; Robert Runstedler, Preston, and William Mitchell, Ayr.
