    IREDALE, E. Dorothy

    Passed away peacefully, on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at her residence, Sunnyside Home (formerly of Preston), in her 93rd year. Loving sister of Ruth (Karl) Wahl of Waterloo. Fond sister-in-law of Bill Blake of Cambridge. Dear aunt of Brenda (Ian) Smith of North Bay, Anne (Barry) Noice of Conestogo, Nancy (Reg) Laventure of Ottawa, Ward (Therese) Hymmen of Kitchener, John (Beverly) Iredale of Durham, NC and Lorna (Keith) Evans of Oakville. Fondly missed by grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Amelia and Charles Iredale; her sister Alice Blake and her brother Donald Iredale. Dorothy was very involved with the Conestoga Division of Girl Guides and Brownies at Trefoil House for 45 years and very active in St. Paul's United Church. She was employed with the Waterloo Trust, for 35 years, as a Teller in Preston. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. John Anderson on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church, 450 King St. E., Cambridge. A reception in the Church Hall will follow. Cremation has taken place.

    Preston Industrialist, C. M. Iredale Dies

    PRESTON - Charles M. Iredale, 79, chairman of the board of Vulcan Varieties Corporation and former president of Canada Last Co. Ltd., died today at his home at 420 William St. He was a past grand master ofthe Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a former Preston alderman and former chairman of the Preston parks board on which he served 12 years. Mr. Iredale was a past president of the Shoe Industries Suppliers Association and the Ontario Lawn Bowling Association and a member of the Preston Lawn Bowling Club, Galt Curling Club, Commercial Travellers Association, Cambridge Lodge, Victoria encampment, Queen Rebekah Lodge and St. Paul's United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Nellie Mann: one son, Donald of Woodstock: three; daughters, Dorothy and Mrs. William (Alice) Blake, both of Preston and Mrs. Kieth (Ruth) Hymmen of Kitchener: one brother, Arnold of Montreal: one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Veta) Glasier of Long Beach, Cal., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home until Sunday noon, when removal will be made to St. Paul's United Church, for the funeral at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Preston cemetery. A memorial service under the auspices of Cambridge 100F Lodge and Queen Rebekah Lodge will be held at the funeral home
    Saturday at 7: 30 p.m.

Iredale; dear mother of Donald Iredale of Woodstock, Dorothy Iredale of Cambridge (Preston) and Ruth (Mrs. Keith Hymmen) of Kitchener. Predeceased by one daughter, Alice (Mrs. William Blake) formerly of Cambridge (Preston); also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was born in Toronto, September 26, 1887 and came to Cambridge (Preston), in 1919. A member of St. Paul's United Church, Cambridge (Preston). Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge (Preston), until noon Saturday; then to St. Paul's United Church for funeral service, at 2 p.m. Interment in Preston cemetery.

    John Charles Iredale was born in Minneapolis, Indiana on December 23, 1859 and moved with his parents to Toronto the following year. He came to this area in 1919 when the Canada Last Co. Ltd., a business established by his father William Iredale in 1864, relocated in Preston. Mr. Iredale served as president of the company, which made the wooden forms used in the manufacture of shoes, until the time of his death. In his latter years with the company, however, he was not overly active in the management of the company. He died on September 3, 1955 and is buried in Preston Cemetery.
