    NEW HAMBURG - July 8, 1940 - John R. Mohr, 81, died last night at his home in Wilmot Township, near Philipsburg. He had been ill a month. Born in North Easthope on June 15, 1859, he farmed in Wilmot Township for the greater part of his life. Mr. Mohr attended Oetzel Evangelical Church. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mohr, and was predeceased by his wife Anna Lantz. Surviving are three sons, Edwin of North Easthope, Clayton on the homestead, three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Bender of North Woolwich, Mrs. Millis Cook of South Easthope, Miss Otillie Mohr at home, one brother, Henry of North Easthope, five sisters, Mrs. Conrad Schmidt of Tavistock, Mrs. Henry Wettlaufer of Gadshill, Mrs. George Falk of Shakespeare, Mrs. Lavina Spies of Floradale and Mrs. Emma Dahmer of Ratzburg. Funeral service will be held at his residence on Thursday at 2 p.m. followed by service at 2: 30 at Oetzel Church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. F.B. Meyers will officiate. Remains are at his home.

    Mrs. John R. Mohr

    A highly esteemed and beloved resident of the Philipsburg district passed away on Tuesday noon, April 23rd, lin the person of Mrs. Mohr, (beloved wife of Mr. John R. Mohr at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 23 days. Mrs. Mohr had been in failing health for about a year, but had been seriously ill only a short time. Mr. and Mrs. Mohr celebrated their golden wedding exactly one month previous to her demise, on March 23rd last, when all the children were present for the celebration.

    Mrs. Mohr whose maiden name was Anna Catharine Lantz, was born in North Easthope on January 31st, 1858. Following her marriage fifty years ago they resided on a farm in North Easthope for 9 years and 41 years ago moved to Philipsburg where she resided since. She leaves in bereavement her husband, three sons and three daughters, 'besides ten grandchildren. The children are Edwin, of North Easthope, (Minnie) Mrs. Ed. Bender, Elmira, Herbert, of South Easthope, Otillia and Clayton on the homestead and (Edna) Mrs. Millus Cook, Gravel Road. One son predeceased her 41 years ago.

    The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon from her late home. After a short service at the house at 1.45 p.m. a service will be held in Oetzel's Evangelical Church and interment will be made in Oetzel's cemetery. Rev. Mr. Bender, ipastor of the church, will have charge of the services.
