    Baden.--Residents of Baden learned with regret of the passing of Mr. Samuel Ruby, a former resident, on Sunday, Jan. 22, in the K-W Hospital. The late Mr. Ruby, who was in his 62nd year was born in East Zorra in 1878. For some years he resided as a farmer at Baden, but in later years followed the trade of a baker and resided at 730 King street in Kitchener. The deceased death followed an illness of six months' duration.

    Mr. Ruby was a son of the late Chris. Ruby and Annie Roth and was of Amish Mennonite faith. In 1908 he was married in Wilmot township to Miss Mary Roth, a daughter of the late David and Mrs. Roth of Baden. Besides his sorrowing widow, he leaves to mourn his loss, nine children, Lorne, Stanley, Floyd, Lloyd and Ethel of Kitchener, Alfreda, Mrs. G. Schmidt, of Windsor, Percy of Collins Boy, Irene of Windsor and Elroy of Baden. Two brothers, John of East Zorra, Eli of New Mexico and one sister, Lena, Mrs. Noah Bender of Wilmot township, also survive.

    The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, private at the house and a public service in Steinman's Amish Mennonite Church. The burial service took place in the adjoining cemetery with Bishop M.O. Jantzi officiating at the services.

    BISH. JOSEPH RUBYJoseph Ruby was born on the 12th of July, 1813 in Alsace-Lorraine, France (now Germany), came to Canada in 1839, and was married to Magdalena Roth on the 17th of November 1840, and lived in matrimony 46 years, 3 months and 17 days; his wife died 9 years, 11 months and 13 days before him. He died on the 12th* of January, 1897, aged 83 years, 6 months and 4 days. Of his 9 children, 8 survive, one living in Colorado; there are also 58 grandchildren living and 3 dead, and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1852 he was ordained to the ministry, and in 1853 to the office of bishop. He served faithfully in his calling for about 43 years in the East Zorra Mennonite Congregation. His funeral, on the 19th, was very largely attended. Funeral services by Chr. Zehr from John 5: 25--30 and Chr. Litwiller from 2 Tim. 4: 6--9.

    RUBY - On the 3d of Feb., in Perth County, Ont., Magdalena (Roth) Ruby, aged 68 years, 6 months and 29 days. She leaves a husband, 8 children and 46 grandchildren to mourn her death; yet they have the assurance that it is well with her. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church over 50 years. She was buried on the 6th, followed to the grave by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Services in the Amish Mennonite Church by Chr. Litwiller and Jacob Bender from 1 Thessalonians 6: 12 and John 5: 21-26.1a
