    Baden.--Residents of Baden learned with regret of the passing of Mr. Samuel Ruby, a former resident, on Sunday, Jan. 22, in the K-W Hospital. The late Mr. Ruby, who was in his 62nd year was born in East Zorra in 1878. For some years he resided as a farmer at Baden, but in later years followed the trade of a baker and resided at 730 King street in Kitchener. The deceased death followed an illness of six months' duration.

    Mr. Ruby was a son of the late Chris. Ruby and Annie Roth and was of Amish Mennonite faith. In 1908 he was married in Wilmot township to Miss Mary Roth, a daughter of the late David and Mrs. Roth of Baden. Besides his sorrowing widow, he leaves to mourn his loss, nine children, Lorne, Stanley, Floyd, Lloyd and Ethel of Kitchener, Alfreda, Mrs. G. Schmidt, of Windsor, Percy of Collins Boy, Irene of Windsor and Elroy of Baden. Two brothers, John of East Zorra, Eli of New Mexico and one sister, Lena, Mrs. Noah Bender of Wilmot township, also survive.

    The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, private at the house and a public service in Steinman's Amish Mennonite Church. The burial service took place in the adjoining cemetery with Bishop M.O. Jantzi officiating at the services.

    Ruby. - Mary, daughter of the late David B. and Magdalena (Miller) Roth, was born at Grosshill, Ont., Oct. 11, 1884; died at her late home, Kitchener, Ont., Dec. 9, 1947; aged 63 y. 1 m. 28 d. In 1907 she was united in marriage to Samuel Ruby, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1939. In her youth she united with the Steinman A.M. Church; in 1945 she transferred her membership to the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. Surviving are 7 sons (Lorne and Stanley, of Kitchener; Percy, Withburg, Ont.; Earlus, Toronto, Ont.; Lloyd and Floyd, of Kitchener), 3 daughters (Elfretta - Mrs. Gordon Schmidt, Windsor, Ont.; Irene - Mrs. Oscar Eckensviller, Waterloo, Ont.; and Ethel, of Kitchener), 3 brothers (Noah and Sam, Baden, Ont.; and Dan, Preston, Ont.), one sister (Lydia - Mrs. Peter Steinman, of Baden). One infant daughter (Verne Doris) predeceased her. Funeral services were held Dec. 11 at the First Mennonite Church in charge of Merle Shantz and Moses Jantzi.     Baden, Dec. 7 - David B. Roth, 83, well-known resident of Baden, died today as a result of injuries sustained when he was knocked from a load of hay by a swinging barn door one month ago. The deceased was engaged in unloading a wagon load of hay, assisted by his wife, when a sudden gust of wind caught the door and knocked him to the ground.

    The last Mr. Roth, a life-long resident of this district, was born near Baden in 1853. He was a son of the late Mr. John and Katie Roth. A member of Steinman's Amish Mennonite church, Mr. Roth won distinction during his younger life when he used oxen to cultivate his farm instead of horses. Mr. Roth is also the owner of a valuable collection of Indian relics as well as several oxen yokes he made himself.

    Surviving are his widow, three sons, Samuel, owner of Roth's Garage n Baden, Noah of Tavistock, and Daniel of Baden, two daughters, Mrs. S. Ruby of Kitchener, and Mrs. P. Steinman of Baden, one sister, Mrs. Jacob Gardner of Baden. One son and one daughter predeceased him.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock from the residence to
    Steinman Amish Mennonite church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    BADEN. Oct 19 - Ninety-year-old David B. Roth of this village died yesterday at 10: 30 a.m. at her home after an illness of 18 days.

    Born in 1854 in Baden, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Miller, she attended the Steinman Amish Mennonite Church. Her husband predeceased her six years ago.

    Surviving are three sons, Noah Miller Roth of Baden, Dan Miller Roth of Preston and Sam Miller Roth of Baden; two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Mary) Ruby of Kitchener and Mrs. Peter (Lydia) Steinman of Baden; a brother, Christian R. Miller of Petersburg, Florida, 38 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. One son, Moses Miller Roth and a daughter, Mrs. Jacob (Katie) Jutzi, predeceased Mrs. Roth.

    The funeral will be held publicly on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1: 30 p.m. from the residence. Church services held at the Steinman Amish Mennonite Church with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Bishop Moses Jantzi will officiate.

    BISH. JOSEPH RUBYJoseph Ruby was born on the 12th of July, 1813 in Alsace-Lorraine, France (now Germany), came to Canada in 1839, and was married to Magdalena Roth on the 17th of November 1840, and lived in matrimony 46 years, 3 months and 17 days; his wife died 9 years, 11 months and 13 days before him. He died on the 12th* of January, 1897, aged 83 years, 6 months and 4 days. Of his 9 children, 8 survive, one living in Colorado; there are also 58 grandchildren living and 3 dead, and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1852 he was ordained to the ministry, and in 1853 to the office of bishop. He served faithfully in his calling for about 43 years in the East Zorra Mennonite Congregation. His funeral, on the 19th, was very largely attended. Funeral services by Chr. Zehr from John 5: 25--30 and Chr. Litwiller from 2 Tim. 4: 6--9.

    RUBY - On the 3d of Feb., in Perth County, Ont., Magdalena (Roth) Ruby, aged 68 years, 6 months and 29 days. She leaves a husband, 8 children and 46 grandchildren to mourn her death; yet they have the assurance that it is well with her. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church over 50 years.     Miller. - Christian S. Miller was born Feb. 22, 1830, in the township of Wilmot, where he lived until the time of his death. He was married to Maria Roth Feb. 2, 1851, with whom he lived in matrimony 40 y. 8 m. 27 d. To them were born 8 children (Maria, Jacob, Barbara, Rudy, Mattie, Katie, Fannie, Christian) all are living in Waterloo Co. except Jacob, who lives in Alberta. After fighting the battles of a widower's life for 24 y. 3 m. 27 d. he departed this life on Feb. 25, 1916, at the ripe old age of 86 y. 3 d., leaving to mourn his departure 6 children (1 adopted), 48 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren. Funeral Feb. 29 conducted at the house by Bro. D. Steinman and at the Steinman Church by Bro. E. J. Berkey in English (text, II Cor. 5: 1) and Bro. Eli Frey in German (text, Jno. 3: 36; 5: 24). Burial in cemetery near by.
