    Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 10th, 2018 at the Terrace on the Square where he had resided for the past 5 years. Lester was born in Floradale was the husband of the late Onnerene (Raymond) 2013. Loved father of Barry and his wife Barbara and grandfather to Carly; Sharon and her husband Paul Scholl. Les was a veteran of World War II, an honorary lifetime member for over 50 years and Past President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate Board and a member of the Mocha Shriners. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Special thanks to the health care workers and professionals who cared for Dad.

    The family will receive their friends for visitation from 2-4 & 7-9 pm (Friday) at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes-Waterloo Chapel 617 King St. N. Waterloo (across from Home Depot).     BROX, Emanuel

    After an illness of two days of heart trouble, the death of Emanuel Brox occurred at four o'clock, Friday, afternoon at his home in Elmira. Although the deceased, who was aged 40 years and 22 days, had not been in the best of health for some time, he was able to work until the day previous to his death, being employed as a cabinet maker at the Elmira Furniture Co., where he had been engaged for the past eighteen years.

    He was born in Woolwich Township near Floradale, a son of John Brox and the late Mrs. John Brox. On June 25, 1919, he was married to Emma Wideman, who survives with one son, Lester. Other survivors are his father, John Brox, who resides with his son William in Elmira, two brothers, William in Elmira, two brothers, William of Elmira, Jacob of Spruce Grove, Alta., and one sister, Louise, Mrs. Lester Bowman of Elmira. His mother died fifteen years ago and one sister eighteen years ago.

    The funeral held on Monday afternoon was largely attended, relatives and friends being present from Kitchener Waterloo, Manheim, New Dundee, Alma, Conestogo and Mildmay. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Alex Shoemaker, Alex Detwieler, Noah Krupp, William Keil, Edward Zeigler, and Addison N. Snider. The fellow-employees of the late Mr. Brox in the Elmira Furniture Co., were well represented at the funeral. Service were held at the home and in the Evangelical church with interment in the Elmira cemetery. Rev. E. D. Becker officiated.

    BAUMAN, Mrs. Emma - On Sunday, October 3, 1976, at K-W Hospital, Emma Wideman, aged 85 years, of Waterloo, formerly of Elmira.

    She was predeceased by her first husband, Emmanuel Brox, her second husband, Onias Bauman; dear mother of Lester Brox of Waterloo, beloved grandmother of Sharon and Barry. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.

    Friends called at the Dreisinger funeral Parlor, Elmira, after 9 am on Tuesday morning. Service in the chapel on Wednesday, October 6, at 11 am. Interment in Elmira Cemetery.

    Death of John Brox.

    Death removed an aged native of Woolwich township in the person of John Brox, who passed away Thunsday, March let at the home of his son. William, in Elmira aged 83 years.

    The late Mr. Brox was a carpenter by trade. He conducted a farm near Floradale for 40 years and in 1920 moved to Elmira. He was a member of the Woolwich council for six years. He was married in 1874 to Elizabeth Ginder, who predeceased him in 1915.

    He is survived by one daughter Mrs. Sylvester Bowman. Elmira, and two sons, William. Elmira and Jacob of Spruce Grove, Alta., also two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Foerster, Elmira, Mr. Samuel Reist, Wetaskewin. Alta.. three brothers, Daniel.. Spruce Grove, Alta, Jacob, Waterloo and Louis. Conestogo.

    John Brox

    John Brox, a well-known and aged resident of Elmira, passed away this (Thursday) morning at 4.45 o'clock, aged 83 years, 7 months and 16 days. The late Mr. Brox was born in Woolwich Township and has been a resident of this district all his life. He followed the farming occupation for forty years, having a farm half a mile east of Floradale in Woolwich Township. When a young man be was united in marriage to Elizabeth Grinder, who died on Sept. 3rd, 1915. Mr. Brox afterwards came to Elmira and has since resided here with his son William. The other surviving members of the family are: Jacob of Spruce Grove, Alta., and Louise (Mrs. Sylvester Bowman), of Elmira. One son, Emanuel, died in 1930 and a daughter, Lydia, died in 1913. He also has three brothers and two sisters, Daniel Brox of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Jacob of Waterloo, Louis of Conestogo, Mrs. Sam. Reist of Wetaskawin, Alta., and Mrs. Jacob Foerster of Elmira. The funeral arrangements were not completed when The Signet went to press.

    MRS. JOHN BROX.

    Elizabeth Gimber, beloved wife of Mr. John Brox, died at her home near Floradale, on September 2nd. The cause of death was cancer of the stomach, of which she had suffered for a considerable time.

    Mrs. Brox was born in Woolwich Tp. on December 8th, 1851 In 1874 she was united in marriage to the bereaved husband, and they have lived ever since on their farm near Floradale.

    Their union was blessed with nine children, five of whom predeceased her. The four remaining ones are:- Jacob at Spruce Grove, Alta.; Mrs. Sylvester Bowman, Floradale; Emanuel and William at home.

    The funeral, which was largely attended, was held on Sunday morning from her late residence to Elmira, Evangelical Church for services and thence to Union cemetery for interment.

    The surviving husband and children have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.

    ESTEEMED RESIDENT DEAD

    In the death of Truman Wideman who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15th Elmira loses a widely known and esteemed citizen. Deceased had been ill only a few days having suffered a stroke on Nov. 7th and his death came as a shock to his large circle of friends. The funeral took place on Friday to the Elmira Mennonite church where Rev. E. Bean and Bishop Jonas Snider conducted the service after which interment was made in the Mennonite cemetery. The pall bearers were David Hollinger Menno Snider, Gus Pfaff, Norman Martin, Andrew Wilson and E. Schmidt.

    The late Truman Wideman was born on the Peterson farm near Hawkesville, June 1st, 1848. He followed farming for sixteen years on the John Bricker farm two miles west of Elmira. He later moved to: Elmira and bought the blacksmith shop of Jas Stewart which he conducted until a few years ago when. he retired. He was married to Miss Snider their union being blessed with. three sons und five daughters, namely: Nathaniel and Edmund of Detroit, Agnes of Ottawa, Lydia (Mrs. Norman Sulder) of Winterbourne, Clara (Mrs. Byron Trussler) of Waterloo Leah of Kitchener, Hilda (Mrs Fred Schmidt) and Fums (Mrs. Emmanuel Brox) of Elmira Also two brothers John of St Jacobs and Menno of New Jerusalem and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Shoemaker of Elmira and eighteen grandchildren

    ATTENDED FUNERAL

    Among those who attended the funeral of the late Louis Friedman at Hamilton on Tuesday were J. 13, Weber, Elmira, Martin Friedman, West Montrose; Philip Friedman, Gall: Herman Brohman of Brantford. The late Mr Friedman farmed at West Montrose until two years ago when health failed him and he has been confined at the Ontario Hospital since passing away Sunday, Nov 13.

    Wideman.-Susannah (Snider) Wideman was born near Elmira, Ont., Sept. 26, 1853; died at her home in Elmira on March 20, 1936; aged 82 y. 5 m. 18 d. She was married to Truman Wideman who predeceased her. To this union were born 10 children, 2 having predeceased her. Those that survive are Lydian (Mrs. Norman Snider), Leah, Nathaniel, Clara (Mrs. Byron Trussler), Angus, Emma (Mrs. Onias Bowman), Hilda (Mrs. Fred Schmidt), and Edmund. There also survive 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was a member of Elmira Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held in the Elmira Mennonite Church in charge of Brethren Oliver D. Snider and Jonas Snider. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

    There died at her home in Elmira on March 20, Mrs. Susannah Wideman, relict of the late Truman Wideman, in her 83rd year. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Onies Bowman and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Elmira, Mrs. Byron Trussler, Waterloo, Mrs. Norman Snider, Winterbourne, and Miss, Lea of Kitchener; three sons, Angus of Ottawa, Nathaniel of Detroit, and Edmond of Cincinitti. The funeral was held on Sunday from her late residence to Elmira Mennonite cemetery for interment.
