    ROTH, Leonard Christian

    On Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996, at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonard Roth of Baden.

    He was born in South Easthope township 63 years ago, a son of the late Solomon and Amelia (Erb) Roth. He was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg where he had enjoyed fellowship in the cluster groups. He had volunteered at the Annual Mennonite Relief Sale in New Hamburg for many years and enjoyed gardening as his hobby. Len was a participant in the Wilmot Seniors Woodworking Shop in Baden.

    Beloved husband of Ruth (Gerber) Roth whom he married September 28, 1957. Loving father of Karen and her husband Isaac Tang of Vancouver, B.C., Barry Roth and his wife Sharon of Kitchener, Darryl Roth of Victoria B.C., Melanie and her husband Paul Smith of London. Ever remembered by two brothers and one sister, Vernon Roth and his wife Ruby, Lorne Roth and Florence Roth, all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norman and Madelene Gerber of Millbank, Sydney and Esther Sauder of Milverton and Stanley and Mary Ropp of Tavistock.

    Leonard was predeceased by a son, Ronald in 1964; a grandson, Graham Mackenzie in 1995; three brothers, Alvin and his wife Lucille, Wilfred and Eldon and one sister, Leona Ropp.

    Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 191 Huron St., New Hamburg, this evening (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. All are welcome to the committal service at 16th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery on Sunday at 3 p.m. followed by the memorial service at Hillcrest Mennonite Church at 4 p.m. with Pastor Maurice Martin and Pastor Mary Scheidel officiating.

    JANTZI, Ruth (Roth) Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital. Ruth was born 78 years ago in Wellesley Township and was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Violet (Jantzi) Gerber. Ruth was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. Beloved wife of Laverne Jantzi whom she married April 19, 1997, and the late Leonard Christian Roth who predeceased her February 15, 1996. Loving mother of Karen and husband Ed Gunn of Vancouver, B.C., Barry Roth and wife Sharon of Baden, Darryl Roth and wife Catharine of Victoria, B.C., and Melanie and husband Paul Smith of London. Special grandmother to Raphael, Evangelina, Andrew and Nicole. Forever remembered by one sister Esther and Sydney Sauder of Stratford. Sadly missed by sisters-inlaw Madeliene Gerber of Millbank, Ruby Roth of Tavistock, Florence Roth, Elda Roth and Mary Ropp, all of New Hamburg.     Roth - Jacob D., son of Nicholas L. and Annie Diener Roth, was born in Oxford Co., Ont., Aug. 17, 1862; passed away at the home of his son-in-law, Ezra Zehr, in Perth Co., Ont.; aged 83 y. 4 m. 4 d. On Dec. 15, 1892, he was joined in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Beck, who passed away thirty-four years ago. This union was blessed with four sons and three daughters: Solomon, Jacob, David, and Christian, all living in Oxford Co.; Mary - Mrs. William Brenneman and Annie - Mrs. Ezra Zehr, both of Perth Co.; and Elizabeth - Mrs. Joseph Kropf, of Oxford Co. He also leaves 26 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother (C. D. Roth), and 4 sisters (Barbara Roes, Lizzie Kropf, and Fannie Iutzi, all of this community; and Mattie Gascho, Pigeon, Mich.). As a young man he united with the East Zorra A. M. Church. Funeral services were held at the home by Daniel Wagler and at the East Zorra Church by David Schwartzentruber and Jacob R. Bender. A service will be held at her late home, Sebastopol, Thursday afternoon at 1:30, following which a memorial service will be held at the East Zorra Amish Mennonite Church, 16th Line. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

    Surviving are one son, Irvin of Holt, four daughters, Miss Clara and Mrs. Aaron (Lydia) Weltz both of Kitchener, Mrs. Soloman (Amelia) Roth of Tavistock, and Mrs. Menno (Lucinda) Roth of Bright; a brother, Noah Lichti of Tavistock and three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Gascho of Kitchener, Mrs. Catherine Kropf of Philipsburg, and Mrs. Moses Mayer of St. Agatha. Sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral service will be held at the residence, at 1:30 p.m. Friday followed by service in St. Agatha A.M. Church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Peter Nafziger will be In charge of the service. Remains are resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until four p.m. on Wednesday when the removal will be made to the residence.

    JOHN B. JANTZI Wellesley - Three days before his 88th birthday, John B. Jantzi died Sunday at his home. Born in East Zorra Township he was the son of the late John Jantzi and Catherine Brenneman. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. His wife, Dorothy Bast, died in 1958. Surviving are two sons, Ezra and Aaron of Wellesley, a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Violet) Gerber of Millbank and a brother, Jacob of Wellesley. There are eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The body is at the residence where a short service will be conducted Wednesday at 1: 30 p.m. prior to a memorial service at Cedar Grove AM Church, conducted by Bishop Samuel Roth at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

    MRS. JOHN B. JANTZI

    Mrs. John B. Jantzi, 85, died Wednesday. February 26, at her home in Wellesley.

    She and her husband, who Survives were married 64 years. They were wed Nov. 2. 1893, in Wilmot Township.

    Born in Wilmot May 31, 1872, she was a daughter of the late George Bast and his wife, the former Leah Wilhelm. She was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church, third line of Wellesley Township.

    Surviving, besides her husband, arc two sons, Ezra of RR 2, Wellesley, and Aaron Of Wellesley; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph J. (Violet Gerber of the fifth line of Wellesley; two brothers, Moses of Wellesley and Rudolph of Crosshill; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Brunk of Wellesley, Mrs. Catherine Roth and Mrs. Lydia Miller, both of Baden; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The body rested at the residence where a short funeral was conducted Sunday at 1 p. m.. followed by a memorial service at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church at 1:30 p.m. Bishop Samuel Roth officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
