    Rev. Lorne George Lichty, 87, of Greencastle, died Sunday morning, January 13, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn R. Dohner Lichty, his wife of 9 years. Born June 3, 1925, near Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, he was a son of the late Solomon and Emma Jantzi Lichti. Rev. Lichty graduated from Toronto Bible College, and was ordained to the ministry in 1955. He was a bivocational pastor serving in the Brethren In Christ Church and as a licensed auctioneer for 55 years. Not only did he pastor locally at Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church, Mercersburg, but over his career at Belleville, Green Springs, and Clear Creek Brethren In Christ Churches, and Bedford Chapel, all of Pennsylvania, as well as his first pastorate at North Star Mission and two additional churches in Saskatchewan, Canada. Besides his wife, Rev. Lichty is survived by four children, Gloria Barbara Ann and husband Adrian of Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada, Charlotte Lucille Reid and husband Rev. Kenneth Reid of Orrtanna, Marlene Yvonne Wenger and husband Larson of Greencastle, and Rev. L. Douglas Lichty and wife Kathy of St. Thomas; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a step great grandchild; as well as a brother, Lloyd Lichti and wife Mary Lou of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-six years, Jeanne E. Snyder Lichty, who died in 2003; and four brothers and a sister. The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, Thursday, January 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, from his church, Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro. Rev. William A. "Bill" Shank will officiate. Interment will be in Brown's Mill Cemetery, Kauffman Station. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rev. Lichty's name to Brethren in Christ World Missions, 431 Grantham Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com

    LICHTI, Solomon -- Of Route 1, Milverton, passed away Friday evening, in the R.E.C.YU. of the Stratford General Hospital, was born in Kingwood, 77 yeas ago. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Lichti, a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley. Beloved husband of the former Emma Jantzi; dear father of Ervin of Kelowna, B.C., Lorne of Newville, Penna., Elmer and Lloyd, both of Stratford, Aaron of Calgary, Alta., and Leona (Mrs. Tom Mason) of Smith's Falls; dear brother of Mose of Millbank, Nancy (Mrs. John Bellar) of Route 1, Milverton and Mary (Mrs. Chris. Gerber) of Millbank. Also survived by 21 grandchildren. Predeceased by one son David, one brother Aaron and one sister Susie. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley. The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. At noon Monday, October 3, his remains will be removed to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the service at 2: 30. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    Lichty.- Solomon, son of Rudolph and Rachael (Schrag) Lichty, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., May 23, 1900; died at Stratford General Hospital, Sept. 30, 1977; aged 77 y. On Dec. 8, 1921, he was married to Emma Jantzi, who survives. Also surviving are 5 sons (Ervin, Lorne, Elmer, Lloyd, and Aaron), one daughter (Leona-Mrs. Tom Mason), 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one brother (Moses), and 2 sisters (Nancy Bellar and Mary-Mrs. Chris Gerber). He was preceded in death by one son (David), one brother (Aaron), and one sister (Susan-Mrs. Dan Gerber). He was a member of Maple View Church, where funeral services were held, in charge of Alvin Leis, and Jacob Roes; interment in adjoining cemetery.

    LICHTI - Catherine LICHTI (nee JANTZI) was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Feb. 21, 1836; died July 30, 1923; aged 87y. 5m. 9d. On Oct. 5, 1858, she was married to Joseph B. LICHTI, living in matrimony over 23 years and in widowhood almost 42 years. She leaves to mourn her loss 4 sons, 5 daughters, 48 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren. One son (Rudy) died in 1912, and 1 daughter in infancy. She is also survived by 1 brother (Chr. JANTZI), 1 half brother (David RISSER in Nebraska), and 2 half sisters, Mrs. Chr. BRUNK and Mrs. Annie BRUNK in Ontario. She always was in good health until this spring when she had an attack of broncho-pneumonia which returned again in June and left her too weak to recover. She was eagerly waiting to be taken home. She united with the Amish Mennonite Church when a young girl and remained faithful until death. Her Bible was her main pastime in her old age. Service at house was conducted by D. Lebold and at Wellesley A.M. Church by C.S. Zehr, Chr. Gascho, and J.R. Bender. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
