    KUEPFER, Benjamin - Peacefully, to his eternal home, on Friday, February 22, 2008, at Nithview Home, New Hamburg, previously resided at Wellesley. He was born on September 23, 1910, 97 years ago. Beloved husband of Marion Nafziger Gerber whom he married December 17, 1936. They shared the joys of married life for 71 years. Son of the late John and Mary (Schwartzentruber) Kuepfer. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. He farmed at Kingwood, retiring in 1975. Beloved father of Willis and his wife Kathryn of Milverton, Ivan and his wife Anna Mae of Millbank, Irene Kuepfer of Wellesley, Nelson and his wife Elaine of Kingwood, Merrill and her husband Laverne Zehr of Crosshill, Verna and her husband Nelson Jantzi of Brunner. Grandfather of 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandson, Brian; one stillborn grand-daughter and one great-granddaughter, Angela. Predeceased by three sisters and seven brothers, Lena, Jonas, Nick, Christ, Clara, Eli, Dan, Nancy, John and Allen.     Christian R. Gerber of Kingwood died today at Bonnie Brae Nursing Home, Tavistock, on the eve of his 83rd birthday and eight days after his 56th wedding anniversary. He had been ill for a long time.

    Mr. Gerber, born in Wilmot Township, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Gerber, and farmed in the township until 1947 when he retired to Kingwood. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine Nafziger, whom he married Feb. 15, 1910; three sons, Valentine, Brunner; Lloyd, RR 1, Millbank, and Roy, RR 1, Wellesley; four daughters, Mrs. Allen (Clara) Kuepfer, Millbank; Mrs. Benjamin (Marion) Kuepfer, RR 1, Millbank; Mrs. Onias B. (Emma) Martin, RR 3, Wallenstein, and Mrs. Stanley (Katherine) Schellinger, Sebringville; a sister, Mrs. Daniel S. (Nancy) Erb, Wellesley; 30 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.

    The body will remain at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, until noon Thursday when removal will be made to Mr. Gerber's home for a family service at 1 p.m. Saturday. This will be followed by a memorial service at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Bishop Samuel Roth will officiate. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.

    Born at Brunner, on February 4, 1891, the former Katherine Nafziger, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Nafziger.

    She was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish-Mennnite Church. Her husband, Christian R. Gerber, died in 1966.

    Spenler. - Peter, son of Pre. Peter and Elizabeth (Steinman) Spenler, was born in Perth Co., Ont., Jan. 8, 1887; died at his home at Poole, Ont., Oct. 24, 1935; aged 48 y. 9 m. 16 d. He was a member of the Mornington A. M. congregation. He was married to Madeleine Zehr Dec. 14, 1911. To this union were born 9 children. Two preceded him in death. He leaves his wife and 7 children (Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Amanda, Jacob, John, and Madeleine), 8 sisters, and 1 brother. His father died June 8, 1935. His mother died Nov 9, 1929. He was sick with pleural pneumonia 2 weeks, after which meningitis set in. Funeral was held Oct. 27 at the home by Samuel Nafziger and at the Mornington A. M.     MRS. PETER SPENLER

    Mrs. Peter (Mattie) Spenler, 71, of Milverton, died Thursday, December 22nd, at her home. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Zehr, she was born in the Township of Wellesley September 25th, 1889. She was married to the late Peter Spenler in 1911. They farmed near Poole on the farm now owned by a son, John. Her husband died in 1935. She and her family remained on the farm until 1949 when they moved to Milverton, near the C.N.R. station. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church west of Poole. Surviving are two sons, Jacob, of Stratford, and John of Poole; five daughters, Elizabeth, Sarah and Amanda, at home, and Mrs. Lorne (Mary) Schmidt and Mrs. Norman (Madeliene) Gerber, of Millbank; two sisters, Mrs. William (Fannie) Poole, of Poole, and Nancy Zehr, of R.R. 1, Milverton; three brothers, Sam and William Zehr, of Poole, and Chris, K. Zehr, of Milverton, and 14 grandchildren. Three daughters died in infancy. The body rested at her home where the funeral was conducted Saturday at 1: 30 p.m., followed by a service at the Amish Mennonite Church, Poole, at 2: 15. Bishop Moses Nafziger officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were, Clarence Poole, Mahlon Zehr, Ezra Jantzi, John L. Erb, John Poole and Emanuel Bast (all nephews).
