    WAGLER, Emerson - Passed away peacefully, at his residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Emerson had resided in Shakespeare and farmed at RR 1, Shakespeare. He was born 85 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the son of the late Samuel and Emma (Iutzi) Wagler. Emerson was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. Beloved husband of Magdalene (Lichti) Wagler whom he married June 15, 1946. Dear father of Glen and wife Elizabeth Wagler of Manitoba, Sharon and husband Chuck Sammut of Brampton, Donna and husband Gerald Jantzi of Millbank, Gerry and wife Susie Wagler of Shakespeare, Kay and husband Ron Shantz of St. Clements. Sadly missed by his 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by his brothers and sister, Wilmer and wife Katie Wagler, Ruby Gingerich all of New Hamburg, Laverne and wife Bernice Wagler of RR 2, Baden, Sam and wife Elda Wagler of Tavistock, Irvin and wife Carol Wagler of RR 1, Shakespeare and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willis Lichti, Annie and husband Elmer Roth, Louis and wife Loretta Lichti, all of New Hamburg, Nelda Lichti and Catherine and husband Floyd Steinman, all of Tavistock. Emerson was predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin Gingerich, Barbara and Allan Bast, David and Fannie Lichti, Nick and Verna Lichti, Albert and Kaye Lichti, Julius and Floretta Lichti, Laura Lichti and Laverne Lichti. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at East Zorra Mennonite Church, Tavistock on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Earl Koch and Howard Bean officiating. Interment in the 19th Line Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Christian Aid Ministries.

    Wagler, Moses, son of the late John and Annie (Zehr) Wagler, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont. May 12, 1872; passed away at the home of his son Samuel after a lengthy illness, Sept. 10, 1957; aged 83 y. 3m. 28 d. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour, uniting with the East Zorra A. M. Church, remaining a faithful member until the end. On Nov. 17, 1895, he was married to Katherine Brenneman, who preceded him in death in January 1953. They shared the joys and sorrows of life together for over 58 years. Surviving are 3 sons (Samuel and John, Shakespeare; David, of Tavistock), one daughter (Nancy-Mrs. Enos Zehr, of Bright), 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers (John, Wellesley; Noah, Shakespeare), and one sister (Mary-Mrs. Nicklas Roth, Petersburg). Two grandchildren preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the East Zorra Church in charge of Andrew Zehr, William McGrath, Joel Swartzentruber, and Henry Yantzi. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    Wagler, --- Catherine, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brenneman, was born in South Easthope Township, Nov. 19, 1866; passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Jan. 31, 1953; aged 86 y. 2 m. 12 d. She was married to Moses Wagler on Nov. 17, 1895. Surviving besides her husband are 3 sons (Samuel B. and John Shakespeare, Ont.; and David, Tavistock, Ont.), one daughter (Nancy-Mrs. Enos Zehr, Bright, Ont.), 3 half brothers (Jacob, Wellesley, Ont.; Dan, Tavistock, Ont; and Moses, Shakespeare, Ont.), one half sister (Leah-Mrs. Joseph Schlegal, Shakespeare, Ont.), 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the East Zorra Amish Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the East Zorra Church, Feb. 3, in charge of Henry Yantzi and Ben B. King.

    Mrs. Moses Wagler

    NEW HAMBURG - Mrs. Moses Wagler, (86), died Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital. She had received a leg fracture Thursday. Born in South Easthope, she was the former Catherine Brenneman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brenneman. She was a member of the East Zorra Amish Mennonite Church on the (18th) Line. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are six sons, Samuel B., South Easthope; David, Tavistock; John, North Easthope; Jacob Bast, Wellesley; Dan Bast, Tavistock; Moses Bast, South Easthope; 2 daughters, Mrs. Enos (Nancy) (Eaby), Blandford Township; Mrs. Joseph Schlegal, South Easthope. Fourteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. The body is resting at the home of son Samuel Wagler, South Easthope, where a short service will be held Tuesday at 1: 30 p.m. A service at the South Easthope Amish Mennonite Church will follow at 2: 15 p.m. burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Bishop Henry Yantzi will officiate.

    Iutzi.-Mary Iutzi (nee Schrag) was born in Perth Co., Ont., June 17, 1853; died March 16, 1939, in Oxford Co., Ont.; aged 85 y. 8 m. 29 d. In early youth she united with the East Zorra A. M. church under the ministry of Bishop Joseph Ruby. She was united in holy matrimony to Michael Iutzi, living in matrimony 55 years; and in widowhood almost 11 years. This union was blessed with 4 sons and 10 daughters, of whom 3 sons (Benjamin, Aaron and Simon) and 3 daughters (Catherine, Elizabeth and Lydia) predeceased her. Surviving are 1 son (Bishop Dan S. Iutzi) and 7 daughters (Magdalena, wife of late Christian Ruby; Leah, wife of Dan S. Zehr; Rachel, wife of Solomon Bender; Amanda, at home; Nancy, wife of Michael Jantzi; Mary, wife of Mrs. Jacob Yantzi; and Emma, wife of Samuel Wagler); also 53 grandchildren of whom 3 died, and 77 great-grandchildren of whom 9 died. One sister (Barbara, wife of late Chris Kennel of Wellesley) survives. Services at home March 19, conducted by David Schwartzentruber and at East Zorra A. M. Church by Bros. Menno Kipfer and Jac. R.     Notes:

    John W. Wagler In the death of John W. Wagler which occurred at the home of his son, Mr. Chr. Wagler, in South Easthope on March 31st another of the old pioneers of this district has passed to the Great Beyond. The late Mr. Wagler reached the advanced age of 89 years, 4 months and 7 days. He was born In Elsace Lorraine on November 24th, 1842. In the year 1848 his parents migrated to America and the family settled on the farm at Baden now owned by Mr. J. P Livingston. The family crossed the ocean in the old sailing ships and it was five weeks that these pioneers were on the water when they reach New York from Havre. In his youth the late Mr. Wagler pledged his religious faith in the church of his forefathers, the Amish-Mennonites, in which faith he worshipped as a true Christian all his life. He married Anna Zehr, of Wilmot, and with her lived in the holy bonds of matrimony for 63 years. Their union was blessed with seven children, six of whom survive. After his marriage the deceased farmed for some years near New Dundee and later settled in South Easthope. He retired from active work in 1905 and he and his wife had since made their home with their son, Mr. Christian Wagler in South Easthope. Besides his widow he leaves five sons and one daughter, 29 grandchildren and 42 great grand-children. The surviving members of the family are Moses and Noah, of the Gravel Road, Chris and Joseph in South Easthope, John of Wellesley village, and Mrs. Nich. D. Roth, of Clarence, N.Y. The funeral was held to the Amish Mennonite Church on the 16th line East Zorra and a very large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed. The funeral services were conducted by Bishop Daniel S. Jutzi, of East Zorra, assisted by Chris. Gascho, of Baden, and Daniel Lebold, of Wellesley. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    JUTZI - Sister Catharine Jutzi was born on the 14th of February 1813, and died in East Zorra, Oxford Co., Ont., on the 21st of March 1896, aged 83 years, 1 month, 8 days. She was a faithful sister in the Mennonite church, and was esteemed by all who knew her. Her husband, George Jutzi, with whom she lived in matrimony for 52 years, preceded her. Of her 8 children 6 survive her. She also leaves 36 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
