    By Record Correspondent PRESTON, Jan. 27. - Edward William "Ted" Young, well-known Preston resident for the past 22 years, a veteran of the Boer War and the First Great War, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, at 5:45 yesterday afternoon. In his 75th year, the late Mr. Young had been confined to the hospital for the past eight months. Born in Maidstone, Kent, England, he resided for some years in Dublin, Ireland.

    Mr. Young devoted many years of his life to military service and was the holder of a considerable number of medals in recognition of such services. In 1887 he enlisted in the Royal Commissary Corps in England, and from there went to the Army Service Corps which later became the Royal Army Service Corps. He proceeded to the Boer War with that unit and served from 1889 to 1901. At the conclusion of the Boer War on demobilization he stayed with the unit until 1914-18 when he served in France, India, Africa, Mesopotamia, Salonika and Egypt. In 1920 he joined the Royal Army Service Corps and was with them for some years.

    After coming to Preston 22 years ago he followed the trade of a baker, being employed with Little's Bakery, Geick and Shantz and also for a time with Kressler Bakery, Hespeler. He retired about five years ago. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church and also of the Preston branch of the Canadian Legion.

    Surviving are his wife, May Lambert; two sons, Robert Arthur Young of Hespeler and Edward Young of Dublin, Ireland; 15 grand-children and one great-grandchild. Two sons, a brother and a sister predeceased him in England.

    The remains are resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, Preston, from where the funeral will be held under the auspices of the local Canadian Legion branch on Saturday, at 2:30. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
