    CAMERON, DUNCAN "LOCHIEL"

    Found on the Cowcatcher

On Saturday, May 8, 1886, the 8: 28 express from the south brought to Preston a dead body, which had been found on the cowcatcher. It seems the man was walking on the track between Preston and Galt near the Credit Valley crossing and not hearing the train, was killed and thrown on the cowcatcher. His age is about 50, tall, no whiskers, weight about 190 pounds, dressed respectably and had a little money in his pocket.

    The Victim Identified

A paragraph was given yesterday stating that the body of an unknown man had been found on the cow catcher of a G. W. R. locomotive at Preston on Saturday night. The body has since been identified as that of Duncan Cameron, of the gore of Puslinch, better known as "Lochiel". He was a labouring man, who had lived for 45 or 50 years near Crieff. It is supposed that he had gone to the Galt station on Saturday evening to take the train for home and that being too late to catch it, started to walk along the 10th concession on his way home and that he was struck at the railway crossing. He was about 65 years of age. His body was removed to John Stewart's place in Crieff and was interred Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 1886 in the East Puslinch cemetery.
