    Death of Mrs. James Riddoch

It is with the deepest regret we have to this week record the death of our oldest timers in the person of Mrs. James Riddoch, of Morningside. Deceased had been in poor health for a number of years, but bore the pain in patient silence, never faltering in the duties of the home through all these years of suffering. She was a kind, loving, generous woman, her home always being open to friend or stranger.

She was born near McDuff, in Banffshire, Schotland, in 1845, and was married to James Riddoch on June 20th, 1870, who survives her. She with her husband and two children, James and William, emigrated to Canada in 1873 settling at Winterburn, Ontario, where they resided for sixteen years. Afterwards they lived in Township of Bramosa, near Guelph, where they farmed for a number of years. The family came to Alberta in 1898, and settled near Lacombe, where she lived with her husband on the farm up to the time of her death, which occurred in the Lacombe hospital on April 28th, 1919.

The deceased was seventy five years of age, was the mother of thirteen children, ten of whom survive her: James, of Lacombe; William and Elizabeth, of Seattle; Peter, of B.C.; Charles, of Calgary; George, of Indiana; Thomas, of The Pas, Man.; Robert, John and Frank, of Morningside, Alberta.

Services were held at her late home, and were conducted by Rev. Mr. Young, of Morningside. The remains were interred in the Lacombe cemetery, on Friday, May 2nd, the pall bearers being six sons of deceased, James, William, Charles, Robert, John and Frank.
The sympathy of their many friends is extended to the bereaved husband and family.
