    DODSON, Walter Harvey - Passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Helen Becker and loving father of Alan of Kitchener, Lynne of Alberta. Also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Eva Dodson and his son, Jim and sister, Ellen. Mr. Dodson was born in Barrie and has resided in the Cambridge area most of his life. A member of St. John's Anglican Church, retired from maintenance at Equitable Insurance, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126, and served in the R.C.A.F. for many years. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday, July 3, 2009 from 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road, Cambridge at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.     Dodson, Eva A. - At the Hilltop Manor, Cambridge, on Monday, July 20, 1981, Eva A. Harvey, wife of the late Walter G. Dodson formerly of Sherring Street, Cambridge (P), in her 97th year. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. James Hall (Ellen) of Lindsay, Ont., and a son Harvey of New Dundee; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, a brother, a sister and a grandson. Mrs. Dodson was born in Essex, England and came to Canada in 1911 to Barrie, Ont., before moving to Preston in 1920. A member of St. John's Anglican Church and of the Queen Rebeca Lodge, Cambridge. In the lodge she was awarded the Declaration of Chivalry and was a member of the Past Noble Grand Club. She rested at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge. Funeral services were held Wednesday 2 pm. Interment was in Preston Cemetery.

    Louis Becker

    PRESTON, Aug. 3 -- Louis Becker, a resident of Preston for 45 years, died suddenly Saturday evening, after being ill for only a day, following a serious heart seizure. Mr. Becker was in his 78th year. He died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, 438 Hespeler St. Mr. Becker was employed by the Canadian Office and School Furniture Ltd., for a number of years. Later he was an employee of the Preston Furniture Co. He has been retired for the past, seven years. Mr. Becker was an adherent of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and at one time was a member of the Lutheran Council. He also had been a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters and at one time was on the Preston Fire Department. Mr. Becker was born in North Easthope and came to Preston, from Wiarton. His wife, the late Juliana Koehler, predeceased him in February of this year. He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. John Boundy (Hermina),Windsor, Mrs. Arthur Brusso (Reseda), Preston, Mrs. Cecil Franks (Lydia), Preston; Mrs. William Wright (Marguerite), Preston, Mrs. John Ross (Dorothy), Preston, Mrs. John Johns (Marion), Galt and Mrs. Harvey Dodson (Helen), of Ottawa. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. John Schmidt, Kitchener; Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell, Kitchener; Mrs. Ernest Tribick, Stratford and Mrs. John Broadrecht, of New Hamburg and three brothers, Theodore of Preston and Adam and William of Kitchener. Mr. Becker is also survived by 19 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass, Ltd., Funeral Home, until Wednesday noon. It will then be taken to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where the funeral will be held at 3.30 p.m. Interment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Preston.

    Louis Becker

    The death occurred at Preston last Saturday of Louis Becker after a day's illnes, aged 77 years. Deceased was a native of North Easthope, but had resided in Preston for the past 45 years. He was employed as a furniture factory worker until he retired seven years ago.

    He was an adherent of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and member of the Canadian Order of Foresters.

    Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs: J. Boundy, Windsor; Mrs. A. Brusso, Mrs. Cecil Franks, Mrs. Wm. Wright; Mrs. J. Ross, Preston; Mrs. John Johns, Galt, and Mrs. Harvey Dodson, Ottawa; four sisters, Mrs. John Schmidt and Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell, Kitchener; Mrs. E. Tribick, Stratford, and Mrs. John Brodrecht, R.R. 1, New Hamburg, and three brothers, Theodore, Preston, and Adam and William of Kitchener. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

    The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon with service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church and interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Preston.

    Mrs. Louis Becker

    PRESTON, Feb. 10 - Failing to rally from a heart attack suffered at her home late last night, Juliana Koehler, wife of Louis Becker, well-known Preston resident for the past 44 years, died at 11: 15, at the age of 74. Word of her sudden passing came as a distinct shock to numerous friends and acquaintances formed through a long association in the community. Mrs. Becker had apparently been in good health. She was born in Wellesley village and lived there until two years after her marriage on July 9, 1898, They resided for three years each Tavistock and Wiarton and 44 years ago made their home in Preston. Mrs. Becker was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, an honorary member of the Ladies Aid and a member of the Missionary Society of that church. Surviving are her husband; seven daughters, Mrs. John tHermina) Boundy, Windsor; Mrs. Arthur (Reseda) Brusso, Mrs. Cecil (Lydia) Franks, Mrs. William (Marguerite) Wright, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Ross, all of Preston; Mrs, John (Marion) Johns, of Galt, Mrs. H. W. (Helen) Dodson, of Ottawa; two sisters, Mrs. Theodore Becker, Preston, Mrs. William Roberts, Kitchener and one brother, Edward Koehler, of Centreville. A brother, Charles Koehler of Wellesley, predeceased her four weeks ago and a sister, Mrs. John Weitz of Kitchener predeceased her six years ago. Nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. The body will rest at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, until noon on Thursday. Funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Thursday at 3: 30. Interment will be in Preston cemetery.
