    Judith Carol Steeb (nee Hertel) of Durham, Ontario passed away at London Health Sciences Centre \endash University Hospital on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the age of 81. Loving Mother of Mark Steeb (wife Jackie), and Suzanne (late husband Glen Miller), and Cherished Grandmother of Cody Steeb (fiancee Danielle) and Taylor Steeb. Dear Sister of Brenda McGaghey, and also remembered by her sisters-in-law Jane Hertel, and Muriel Steeb and her brother-in-law Richard Steeb. Loving Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Edith Hertel and her brothers John, Richard and Doug Hertel.

    Judith was an avid Curler starting in earlier years in Bay Ridges at the Annandale Curling Club, then joining the Hanover Curling Club and finally to Durham throwing rocks with all of her friends. She loved Gardening, loved people that gardened, everything gardening made her happy. Judith was an avid reader and was never found without at least 3 books on the go. She will be missed by all that loved her.

    Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Durham Legion on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life where further memories of Judith can be shared until 1 p.m.

    As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Durham Library (cheques payable to West Grey Public Library and in the memo line indicate "Durham Branch"). Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.

Beloved husband of Edith Jane Thomson; dear father of John and his wife Cathy of Maryhill, Richard of Burnaby, B.C., Doug and his wife Jane of Kitchener, Judy Steeb and her husband Harold of Hanover, Brenda McGaghey and her husband Peter, also of Hanover. Lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one brother, Leonard Hertel of Cambridge. Predeceased by his parents and one sister; Florence Stratton. Mr. Hertel was born in Cambridge and was a lifelong resident. He was employed for many years at Clare Bros. of Cambridge and retired 16 years ago. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, the Preston Masonic Lodge No. 297 and a Past Principal of the Preston Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons No. 245 G.R.C. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 586 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday, March 14 at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Preston Cemetery.

    PRESTON, July 28\emdash In poor health for sometime, Jacob Richard Hertel, 46, died today at his borne 234 Eagle street,for the past 15 years. Mr. Hertel was a tinsmith contractor in Preston. Prevously he worked for the Grand River Railway for five years, Clare Brothers and Eastern Steel Products Ltd. Born in Centreville, Mr. Hertel resided here for 27 years. He attended Pine Grove school at Limerick. As an ardent sportsman, he was instrumental in organizing the Preston Hunt Club. He attended Knox Presbyterian church and belonged to the Preston I.O.O.F. Surviving are his wife, formerly Mary Francis McKie, two sons, t.eonard and Alex of Preston, a daughter Florence of Preston and two grandchildren, John and Richard Hertel and two sisters, Mrs. A. Lewandousky and Mrs. Henry Dipple both of Kitchener. Funeral service will be held at his late residence on Sunday at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.

    Mrs. Nancy McKie

    The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon at 3.15 o'clock, from her late residence, 253 Lowther street, of Nancy McKie, relict of the late Peter McKie, who died at her home, Thursday, morning, following an illness of about 2 years duration. She had resided in town for 2 years, prior to which she made her home on the Freeport-Chicopee road. Surviving are one son, Alexander, of Freeport and four daughters, Mrs. Charles Ludwig, Zion, Mrs. Jacob Hertel, town, Misses Jane and Janetta, at home. Rev. Water Patterson of Knox Presbyterian, which church the deceased attended, will be in charge of funeral services.
