    TOTZKE, Martha Antoinette October 12, 1921 - April 8, 2014

    Martha passed away quietly, after a brief illness at Riverside Glen Nursing Home in Guelph, Ontario on April 8th in her 93rd year. Martha was predeceased by her husband Robert John Totzke in 1980, her daughter Marilyn Waters in 2007 and two of her sisters, Isabel (Chuck) Charleton and Julie (Lorne) Totzke. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law Lloyd and Howard Totzke and sister-in-law Eunice Totzke.

    She is survived by her sons John (Patricia) Totzke and Stephen (Monique) Totzke. She is also survived by her son-in-law Jim Waters and wife Gay. Grandma to Melissa (Chris) Smith, Luke (Lisa) Totzke, Kathy Waters, Danya Totzke and partner Sebastian, and Zena Totzke. Great-Grandma to Wyatt and Sophie Smith and Max Totzke. Sister of Amelia Sennik. Sister-in-law of Carol (Lloyd) Totzke. Aunt to Laurie (Rick) Kitchen, Jenny (Kevin) Schmidt, Heather (Tom) Kyle, Alan Totzke and Diann (Danny) Seguin and other nieces and nephews.

    A small family service and reception was held on April 12th at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home.

    Many thanks for the care and support of the wonderful staff on the Puslinch Wing at Riverside Glen.

    Notes:

    The first rubber tire manufactured at Dominion Tire in Berlin (now Kitchener) was built on January 6, 1914. 22 year-old Oscar Totzke was credited with making the tire \endash plain tread, all white, 30 inch diameter. It took about an hour for Oscar to complete the tire. Dominion Tire would eventually become part of the Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Company.

    Oscar Totzke Oscar H. Totzke, 60, of 528 Park St., died suddenly last night of a heart attack in his car at his home.

    Born May 16, 1889, in Kitchener, Mr. Totzke was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Totzke. A supervisor at the Dominion Rubber Co. tire plant, he had been employed in the Dominion Rubber System for the past 47 years.

    Mr. Totzke was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Canad- ian Order of Foresters.

    Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Ada Becker; three sons, Howard and Lloyd, both of Kitch- ener; Robert, Waterloo, and a daughter, Eunice, Kitchener.

    Also surviving are three brothers, Herman, Alfred and Clar- ence, all of Kitchener, and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Edith Scherer, and a brother, Arno.

    The funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Church Satur- day at 3:30 p.m. with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Rev. Dr. John Schmieder, pastor of the church, will officiate.

    The body will rest at the Ratz- Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, until 1 p.m. tomorrow, when removal will be made to the church.

    Mrs. Ada Totzke

    Mrs. Ada Totzke, 59, of 528 Park St. died at the K-W Horpital yesterday. Born at Chesley, May 3, 1892, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. Becker. Her husband, Oscar H. Totzke, predeceased her in De- cember 1949. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

    She is survived by three sons, Robert, Waterloo, Howard and George, Kitchener; one daughter, Eunice Totzke, Kitchener. She is also survived by a brother Lorne H. Becker, Kitchener, and two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Rehkopf, Kitchener and Mrs. Howard M. Meyer, Hackensack, N.J. She leaves two grandchildren.

    The funeral will be held from St. Matthew's Church at 3 p.m. Friday. Rev. John Schmieder will conduct the services. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. The body is resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home. until 1 p.m. Friday when removal will be made to the church.

    The death took place at an early hour on Tuesday of Catherine Meyer, the beloved wife of Mr. August Totzke at Berlin. The deceased had been a sufferer for three years from dropsy and during the last twelve days has been seriously ill from heart failure. The late Mrs. Totzke was a faithful wife and kind and loving mother and although of a retiring disposition will be greatly missed by her family and a wide circle of friends. She is survived by her husband and six children, viz., Mrs. Alfred Sherer and Messrs. Herman, Alfred, Arno, Oscar and Clarence. The funeral took place on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the residence to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and from thence to Mount Hope Cemetery.
