Cressman-Charlton Wedding Held in Stirling Ave. Church

Wedding rings and vows were exchanged today in Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church by Miss Viola Alice Charlton, daughter of Mrs. Elinor Charlton, 112 Courtland Ave. East, and Robert Leroy Cressman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Cressman, 236 Weber St. East. Rev. Andrew R. Shelly officiated before a background of white tulips, white snapdragon, huckleberry and ferns. Miss Helen Critchison was organist for the wedding music. As the bride, escorted by her brother, Mr. Arthur J. Charlton, reached the front of the church, Mr. Cornelius J. Rempel sang "A Prayer." When the couple knelt following their vows, he sang "The Lord Bless Thee and Keep Thee." and during the signing of the register, "O Perfect Love." Has Mandarin Collar The bride's gown of delicately brocaded white satin was designed with mandarin neckline, moulded bodice, long fitted sleeves and full peplum over a very full floor- length skirt which terminated in a slight train. Her scalloped finger-tip veil fell from a coronet headdress. She carried a white Bible adorned with a white gardenia stephanotis and streamers.

Aquamarine satin was worn by the matron of honor, Mrs. Frederick Cressman of Waterloo, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Her full-skirted gown was cut with V-neckline, fitted bodice and double cape collar pointed at the from and forming brief sleeves. She carried a nosegay of pink roses, sweet peas and streamers. The bridesmaid, Miss Ruth C. Eby, wore a satin gown in mellow pink lavender shade, styled like the matron of honor's. Both attendants wore matching satin poke bonnets shirred at the top with streamers tying under the chin. Their elbow-length satin mittens also matched their gowns. Miss Eby carried a nosegay of pink roses, blue and white sweet peas and streamers. Best Man for Brother Mr. Frederick Cressman was his brother's best man and ushering were Mr. Louis Charlton, brother of the bride, and Mr. Donald Millar, R.R. 4, Kitchener. A wedding dinner for 50 guests was served at Slieve Glah Manor. A solo was sung by Mr. Callum Simpson when the wedding cake was cut. The home of the bride's mother was the scene of the reception later. Mrs. Charlton chose a gray printed silk frock with black accessories and Mrs. Cressman, also receiving, was dressed in gray faconne crepe with black accessories. Their corsages were of pink fluted carnations and forget-me-nots.

For a motor trip to Eastern Ontario, the bride changed to a gray and red printed silk frock, red and gray accessories, navy box coat and white gardenia corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Cressman will reside at 128 Courtland Ave. East.
