    Mr. Carl Ritchie has resigned as teacher at the Philipsburg Public School to accept a position with the Baden Electric Fence Co. His wife has been engaged as teacher in his place for the balance of this year's school term.

    Carl Ritchie, 72, a Baden area schoolteacher for more than 30 years, died suddenly at K-W hospital Kitchener, Saturday.

    Mr. Ritchie was born in Parkhill June 30, 1894. In 1940 he moved to Baden where he later taught school until his retirement in 1959. He was a member of Livingston Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and a clerk of the session. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge where he was past district secretary and secretary of the Baden Lodge for 15 years. He was predeceased by his first wife in 1951.

    He is survived by his second wife, the former Ethel Hunsberger, whom he married in 1956 and three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hunter of Virgil, Mrs. James (Miriam) Johnston of Ottawa and Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Lawrence of London; one brother, William of Parkhill; one sister, Mrs. Wilfred Audene Cunningham of Clandeboye and six grandchildren.

    The body was at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg. until noon yesterday when removal was made to Livingston Presbyterian Church for service at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. L.S. VanMossel. Temporary interment was made in the Graff Chapel, New Hamburg. A Masonic service was held at the funeral home Monday evening.

    Mrs. Carl Ritchie Passes Unexpectedly

    Although in failing health for four months, Mrs. Carl Ritchie died at her home yesterday at the age of 57 from a heart seizure. Born in London township on March 31, 1894, she was the former Lena Edna Wilkin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex Wilkin. She was a member of Livingston Presbyterian Church in Baden and of the Ladies' Aid of that church. Surviving besides her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hunter, Niagara-on-the- Lake; Mrs. James (Miriam) Johnston of Bloomington, Ind., and Shirley of St. Catharines. Also surviving are three brothers, A. C. Wilkin of Belleville; Fred of Vancouver and Dr. Wyllie of Warman, Sask., and two sisters, Mrs. Clifford Truman, Montreal, and Mrs. M. Rowell of London. The body is resting at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
