Notes:

James Recchia, 43, of 261 Sherwood Ave., died Friday at the John Hopkins Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Md., after a brief illness. Death was caused by congestion of the lungs.

Born July 12, 1915, in Toronto, he was a son of George and Adele Recchia of Toronto, who survive. A member of St. Mary's RC Church, he was also a Knight of Columbus. Mr. Recchia served in the RCAF for, five years in the Second World War. He was a member of the Canadian Legion. Kitchener branch.

His wife the former Catherine Longo, survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Joseph and Leo, at home; four brothers, Daniel, Bert and Clare. all of Kitchener, and Gustave of Toronto.
Also five sisters, Mrs. Fred (Gloria) Marks of Kitchener, Mrs. Jack (Joey) Rosefield of Hamilton and Mrs Peter (Angela) Aveto, Mrs. Eugene (Nellie) Scofano and Mrs. Joseph (Lucy) Gat to, all of Toronto. He was predeceased by one son, Leo A brother, Edward, was killed in action in the Second World War.

The body will be at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home Sunday at noon. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Monday at 8 pm. The Knights of Col umbus will also recite the rosary Monday at 8:30 pm.

The body is at the funeral home until Tuesday at 9.30 am when removal will be made to St. Mary's Church for requiem high mass at 10 am. Burial will be In Woodland Cemetery.

RECCHIA, Catherine Anne (nee Longo) - After a long and patient wait. Catherine joined her beloved husband James Recchia, on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at the age of 85 years. Loving mother of Joe and the late Joy Recchia (2004) and Leo and Georgina. Cherished grandmother of Carol, Melinda, Jonathon, Holly, Carly and Amber. Great-grandmother of Zachary, Liliana, India and Park. Predeceased by her brother, Joe Longo. Catherine will be forever remembered by her many relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King Street West, Kitchener for a memorial visitation tonight (Wednesday) from 6:30-9 p.m. A celebration of Catherine's life will be held in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery to follow.

Requiem mass was solemnized today for George Recchia, father of Daniel, Albert and Clare Recchia, and Mrs. Fred (Gloria) Marks, all of Kitchener.

The service was at St. Margaret's RC Church, Toronto. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Toronto.

Mr. Recchia died Saturday at Queensway Hospital, Toronto. He is also survived by his wife, the former Adele Fiola, and four sons in Toronto and four daughters, three in Toronto and one in Stoney Creek.

Requiem mass for Mrs. George Recchia of Toronto, who died Friday, will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure RC Church, Toronto.

Burial will be in Holy Cross RC cemetery. The body is at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne St., Toronto.

Mrs. Recchia, born in Italy, was predeceased by her husband in 1965. Two sons, Americo (Ed) and Eugene (Jimmy), also predeceased her.

Fruit Company Head, Leo G. Longo Dies

Leo Longo, 75, president of L. Longo and Co. Ltd., fruit wholesalers, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.

The Longo name has been associated with the fruit and vegetable trade in the Twin Cities since 1896, when Mr. Longo's father and three uncles set up a wholesale fruit business that was later sold to Walker Brothers.

Mr. Longo operated a retail food business at King and College Streets for 35 years, and managed the nearby Roma Theatre until it was sold. After the Second World War he formed L. Longo and Co., and remained president until his death.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Longo, and a native of Palermo, Italy. The family moved here from Toronto.

Mr. Longo was a member of St. Aloysius RC Church. He lived at Edgehill Drive, Preston.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Agnes Semplice who he married in Toronto in 1918; a son, Joseph of Preston; a daughter, Mrs. James (Catherine) Recchia of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Rose) Suppara of Toronto and Mrs. Matt (Josephine) Palumbo of Oakville, and five grandchilren. One brother, Samuel, predeceased him.

The body is at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at Thursday and prayers offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by requiem high mass a St. Aloysius Church at 10 clock, Interment will be in Woodland mausoleum.

Donations to the K-W Rotary Children's Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society will be ac epted as expressions of sympathy.
