    Reist.- Joel, son of Elias and Annie (Auker) Reist, was born in South Haven, Mich., Nov. 13, 1895; died of cancer at Linden, Alta., Aug. 9, 1983; aged 87 y. On July 27, 1921, he was married to Vera Good, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters (Helen Spicer, Dorothy Fretz, and Mildred Rendle), one son (Roy), 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one sister (Leah Reinbold), and one brother (Abe). One daughter and one son preceded him in death. He was a member of West Zion Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Aug. 12, in charge of Ormond Sherick and Gordon Buschert; interment in West Zion Cemetery.

    Reist, Elias B., son of Abraham and Magdalena (Brubaker) Reist, was born July 28, 1863, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died at the Mennonite Home for the Aged, Albany, Oreg., May 3, 1957; aged 93 y. 9m. 5 d. In earlier years he was a member of the Mennonite Church, but for the past 20 years he was a member of the Christian Church at Sheridan, Oreg. On Oct. 21, 1889, he was married to Annie Auker, who preceded him in death in 1926. On April 8, 1928, he was married to Julia Larrew, who preceded him in death in 1934. He is survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters (Solomon, Sanford, Mich.; Leah-Mrs. Jas. Reinbold, Alanson, Mich.; Mary-Mrs. Noah Dettwiler, Denver, Colo.; Abe and Joel, Alberta; Reuben, Salem, Oreg., and Irvin, Martindale, Pa.), also one stepdaughter (Mrs. Leroy Cowan, McMinnville, Oreg.), and numerous relatives and friends. Funeral services were held May 7 at the Sheridan Christian Church in charge of Frank W. Zook, with interment in the Macabe Cemetery.

    Reist.-Annie Auker was born in Juniata Co.,Pa., Jan. 7, 1864, where she spent her girlhood days and at the age of 24 she emigrated to May City, Iowa, with a small colony of Mennonites of which she was a member. At the age of 25 she was united in marriage to Elias B. Reist of Huron Co., Ont. They made their home at May City, Iowa a few years and then moved to Michigan where they lived for 15 years. In 1910 they moved to Alberta, where they lived until two and one-half years ago when they came to Oregon. To this union were born five sons and three daughters: Mary, Solomon, Abraham, Joel, Leah, Lydia who passed away in infancy, Reuben and Irvin. Mother had always been well, hardly knowing what it was to be sick. October 15 she performed her work as usual, ate a hearty supper and went to bed. Shortly after midnight she had a stroke and in a few hours she passed away. Funeral services at Sheridan, Oreg., church Oct. 19, were conducted by Bro. Daniel Shenk of Sheridan and Bro. Allan Good of the Portland Mission. Text, Rev. 14: 13. She has always been a faithful member and an earnest worker. Almost her last work was caring for the sick. Interment at the South Yamhill Baptist Cemetery.

    John S. Brubacher, "(known as Cooper Brubacher) son of Abraham and Mary (Sherk) Brubacher, was born in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, U.S., August 12th, 1807. In 1828 he came to Canada and took up land along the Conestogo River. His farm was composed of lot No. 40, German Company's Tract, Woolwich Township, about one mile west of St. Jacobs. Here they resided until his death which took place October 1st, 1887. On November 24th, 1830, he was married to Elizabeth Burkhard who was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, November 9th, 1808. She came to Canada with her parents when about 12 years of age and died June 23rd, 1881. They had a family of ten children"
