    KIPFER, Allan Suddenly at home, on Monday, December 9, 2013, Mr. Gordon Allan Kipfer of Gowanstown, in his 76th year. Beloved husband of Janet (Rogers) Kipfer. Father of Jennifer Kipfer of Brampton, and Andrew Kipfer and Lisa Demarte of Waterloo. Brother of Jack and Gloria Kipfer, and Sharon and Jim Stephen, and brother-in-law of Enid Rogers, all of Waterloo. Remembered also by his cousins, nieces, and nephews. While attending Waterloo University-College, Al joined the ROTC, serving in the Scott Fusiliers in Kitchener and the Highland Fusiliers in Galt. After moving to Listowel in 1965, he joined the 21st Field Regiment where he obtained the rank of Captain. While teaching at Listowel District Secondary School for over 30 years, Al volunteered with the Cadet Corp at Norwell D.S.S. Allan and Janet were faithful church and choir members at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They enjoyed their many travels in Europe, and, being a dedicated geography teacher, Al was especially proud to have visited every Canadian Province and Territory, as well as every American State. Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home , Listowel, on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Listowel, on Thursday, December 12th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Memory Gardens, Breslau.     Notes:

    Helen passed away peacefully at Pinehaven Nursing Home at the age of 97 years. Helen was predeceased by Gordon, her husband of 65 years and by her parents, Andrew and Lillian McIntosh (nee Gingerich); sisters, Mary Eby and Alma McIntosh and brothers, Andy and Jack McIntosh.

    Helen was an active member of St John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo as well as a Life Member of the Waterloo Horticultural Society.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Helen, with her family, at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 12 from 11 a.m. ? 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service, to celebrate Helen?s life, at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joanne Peppler officiating.

    Moses Kipfer

    A retired cabinet maker, Moses Kipler of 141 Samuel St., died Wednesday at his home following brief illness, he was 71.

    Mr. Kipfer was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kipfer of St Agatha. His widow, the formes Anna Habel, survives. He was member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Born Sept. 28, 1880, he came to Kitchener in 1920.

    Surviving are two sons, Gordon of Kitchener and Clarence of Haysville; one daughter, Rose, at home two brothers, Menno of Kitchener and Jacob of Tavistock; two sisters Mrs. Sam Nafziger of Vulcan, Alta. and Mrs. Dan Schrab of Leonardsville, N.Y.; and five grandchildren

    The body is at the Schreiters Sandrock Funeral Home. Prayer will be said at the funeral home Saturday at 2:15 p.m. for the family. The body will be removed to the church Saturday at 1 p.m. followed by funeral at 2:30 o'clock Rev. John Schmieder will officiate and interment will be in Memory Gardens

    Andrew L. Kipfer

    Another of the pioneers of this district has passed away in the person of Mr. Andrew L. Kipfer who died at the home of his son Jacob on the 16th line of East Zotra on Wednesday, April 13th, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 20 days. He had been ill for a short time.

    The late Mr. Kipfer was born in Wilmot Township, on Novem- ber 23rd, 1843, and spent his younger days in this district. He farmed for some years near St. Agatha and later moved to Hay Township. Huron County. He was married to Rachel Oesch, who predeceased him by 15 years. The deceased was a faithful adherent of the Amish-Mennonite church. and being possessed of a quiet but kindly disposition he endeared himself to a wide circle of friends. Since the death, of his wife he made his home with his children. For some time he was with his son, Jacob, in New Hamburg, while the former resided here. A family of four sons and two daughters survive him; they are Menno and Jacob, of East Zorra, Solomon, of Brucefield, Moses of Kitchener, Mrs. Daniel Schrag, of Leonardsville, N.Y., and Mrs. Samuel Nafziger, of Vulcan, Alberta. One son, Dan Kipfer, of New Hamburg, predeceased him ten years ago.

    The funeral was held on Saturday forenoon from his son's home in East Zorra to the 16th line A. M. church and cemetery. A large concourse of relatives and friends were in attendance..

    Notes:

    Rachel was born in Baden and moved with her family to Hay Township. She married Andrew Kuepfer/Kipfer, son of Jacob Kuepfer and Maria Lichti from St. Agatha. It is not known whether they married in Wilmot or Hay, but a year after their marriage, Andrew purchased part of Lot 27, Concession XII, from the John Oesch estate. In 1877, they sold it to Christian Kropf and took up residence at St. Agatha. In 1903, they purchased a place in Shakespeare, now 3973 Huron Street. Rachel died in 1917 and is buried in the East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery. Andrew may have been living with his daughter Mary in New York State when he died.
