    Martin - Robert Nyle, beloved son of Oscar and Edna Martin, died suddenly April 6, 1938; aged 3 y. 3 m. 14 d. Robert was sick only a day. Surviving are his parents and 2 brothers (Roy and Morris). Funeral services were conducted at the Erb St. Mennonite Church, Waterloo, Ont., by Bros. Jonas Snider and J.B. Martin. The body was laid to rest in the David Eby Cemetery.

    Martin, -- Oscar, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Enoch E. Martin, was born in Woolwich Township, July 30, 1894; passed away Aug. 20, 1952; aged 58 y. 21 d. He was united in marriage to Edna Shantz on Oct. 17, 1915. He was a member of the Erb Street Mennonite Church, Waterloo, Ont., and was appreciated for his victory in his Christian experience. Surviving are his wife, 2 sons (Roy and Morris, Waterloo, Ont.), 2 brothers (Cleason and Melvin, Waterloo, Ont.), and 6 grandchildren. One son (Robert) preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the Erb Street Mennonite Church by E. Clare Shantz and C. F. Derstine. Interment was made in the Waterloo Mennonite Cemetery.

    Martin - Enoch E. Martin died at his home at Floradale, Ont., April 5, 1938, after a brief illness, aged 73 y. He leaves his wife and 3 sons (Oscar and Cleason of near Waterloo, Melvin at Floradale), 1 brother (Daniel of St. Jacobs), 3 sisters (Mrs. Simeon Weber of Conestoga, Mrs. Moses Martin of Elmira, Mrs. Abram Martin of Heidelberg). He was a faithful and active member of the Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held April 8, in charge of Bro. Jonas Snider of Waterloo (Text, Phil. 3: 20, 21), after which a song in which the deceased loved to dwell: "Death shall not destroy my comfort," etc. After this Bro. O.D. Snider spoke from II Tim. 4: 6 last clause. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

    MARTIN. - Mary Ann, daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Shantz, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., Oct. 11, 1870; died at the Kitchener and Waterloo Hospital, Ont. June 16, 1948; aged 77 y. 8 m. 5 d. She was married to Enoch Martin, who predeceased her ten years ago. Surviving are 3 sons (Cleason, Oscar, and Melvin, all of Waterloo, Ont.), 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Elmira Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held, in charge of Jesse B. Martin and Oliver D. Snider. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    Shantz. -- Amos, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Shantz, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., Feb. 2, 1859; died Oct. 14, 1949, after a brief illness; aged 90 y. 8 m. 12 d. His wife (the former Jemima Snyder) predeceased him in 1934. One daughter (Lena) died at the age of thirteen. Surviving are 2 children (Aldred, Waterloo, Ont.; and Edna - Mrs. Oscar Martin, also of Waterloo), one brother (Allan, Oshawa, Ont.), 3 sisters (Mrs. Frank Shuh, Waterloo, Ont.; Mrs. Benjamin Horst, Breslau, Ont.; Mrs. Christian Brubacher, Preston, Ont.), 4 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was converted as a young man and served the Lord faithfully, being a loyal member of the Mennonite Church. Funeral services were conducted by Clare Shantz and J. B. Martin at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ont. Text: II Tim. 4: 6.

There remain 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Sister Shantz accepted Christ in her early years. She loved her Lord and was ready to testify for Him. She united with the Mennonite Church and was a faithful worshiper at the Waterloo congregation. During the sickness she was patient and ready to depart and be with Christ. Bro. Moses Brubacher conducted service at the home. Text, Rom. 8. Bro. J. B. Martin had charge at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. Texts, I Cor. 2: 9,10; Psa. 17: 15. Interment in the ad joining cemetery.

    SHANTZ - Moses Shantz was born on the 22nd of August 1819, about three miles north of Waterloo, Ont. On the 18th of March, 1819* he was married to the youngest daughter of the late Bro. Jacob C. Snyder, of Waterloo. He was a member of the Mennonite church since his youth. Deceased was afflicted for about 6 years, and suffered much pain, which however was patiently borne through all the weary years, until his final release on the 17th of January 1897, at the ripe old age of 77 years, 4 months and 26 days. He leaves a sorrowing wife, six sons and six daughters, also thirty-six grandchildren to mourn the loss of a kind companion and father. His was the first death out of this large family. The funeral was held on the 20th from his late residence. Interment at Martin's M.H., where many relatives and friends assembled to pay their last tribute of love and respect to one who had been so dearly loved and highly esteemed in life. Funeral services by Amos Cressman and Noah Stauffer.

    Shantz. - Susannah Snider, wife of the late Moses Shantz, was born in Waterloo, Ont., April 4, 1830; died May 14, 1916; aged 86 y. 1 m. 10 d. The deceased was married to Moses Shantz Mar. 18, 1849, who preceded her 19 years ago. This union was blessed with a family of 12 children, of whom 11 are still living. There are 50 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren of whom nearly all are living. She was the last of the Snider family. Her brothers and sisters have all preceded her. By her passing away, the family loses a kind and patient mother, the church a consistent member, and the fruits of her exemplary and devoted Christian life, will never be forgotten. Funeral services on May 17, conducted at the house by Bro. Noah Stauffer, and at the Waterloo Mennonite Church by Bro. Stauffer and Noah Hunsberger, from Job 5: 26. Burial at the Martin Cemetery.
