    Notes:

    The late Jacob Stadelbauer, whose death was chronicled in our last issue, was born in Baden, Germany, in 1835. When about nine years of age he came with his parents to Canada. They lived for a few years on what is now the Schierholtz farm, and then they moved on the farm several miles north-east of Elmira, where he lived the remainder of his days. He married Lena Shieck, who with six children survive him. The children are: David, in Berlin; Henry, on the Edler farm; Peter, at home; Mary Ann (Mrs. Dan. Brox), of Spruce Grove, Alberta; Hannah (Mrs. Ed. Goebel), Leopoldville, Alta.; Lydia, at home. A son and a daughter preceded him in death.
    The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, interment taking place in Elmira Union Cemetery.

    A-2-15 Christoph Stadelbauer Last Will and Testament of Christoph Stedelbauer, late of the Township of Woolwich, Yeoman, who died on or about the 8th of January 1858 at the Township of Woolwich and who at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at Woolwich, the Administration of all and singular…was granted by the aforesaid court to Andrew Sim and Joseph Wittich, both of the Township of Woolwich, the Executors named in said Will…

    I, Chrstopher Stattlebower[sic] of the Township of Woolwich, of the age of fifty two years and being weak in body, but sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner following…

    1st. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Frederika Stattlebower[sic] the sum of third of the produce of all my real estate known as the west part of Lot No. 17 of the German Company Tract in the Township of Woolwich aforesaid, to have and enjoy the same during her natural life at that my son Jacob shall furnish her with all necessary wood for fuel delivered at her house at present in the premises which she shall have for her sole and only use as long as she may require the same, which said Legasee I appoint to be paid and delivered annually from year to year according as the same is matured and prepared for use.

    2nd. I give and devise to my son Jacob Statlebower[sic] the one half of my real estate subject nevertheless to the claim of my wife provided for above of the one third part of all the produce cultivated and raised on the same and further that his half shall be composed and consist of the east half of my said estate and I further give and bequeath unto him one yoke of oxe, one wagon and one cow and should my decease take place during this or the next ensuing year I will that he shall have all necessary provisions for one year and I further will that my son aforesaid shall pay unto my Executors hereinafter named the sum of two hundred dollars in the following manner, namely fifty dollars on the first day of January 1859 and fifty dollars each succeeding year until the whole sum if paid.

    3rd, I give and devise unto my son Conrad Statlebower[sic] the west half of my estate situate in Woolwich on the condition that he shall duly tender from year to year the one third of the produce raised on the land to his mother as above provided and that he shall will and truly pay or cause to be paid to my Executors the sum of four hundred dollars in manner following, that is to say one hundred dollars in the first day of January 1863 and one hundred dollars on the first of January of each succeeding year until the whole amount is paid.

    4th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Fredericka, wife of Peter Dipple, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid at the time and in the manner as the installments becomes due from my son Jacob.

    5th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanah, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid at the time and in the manner that the two first installments are paid by my son Conrad. 6th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Christina, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid at such time and manner as the third and fourth installments are paid by my son Conrad, and the further sum of one hundred dollars being the fifth and last installment to be aid by my son Conrad, to be equally divided between my three daughters hereinbefore named and lastly I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and chattels of whatever nature or kind so ever, to my said wife Fredericka Statlebower and I hereby appoint Messrs Andrew Sim and Joseph "Hittick" [Wittich?] both of the said Township of Woolwich to be the Executors of this my Last Will and Testament…
