    Notes:

Sudden Death - Miss Elizabeth Gordon, residing at the corner of Main and Stanley streets, Ayr, died very suddenly at Galt on Sunday evening. She had been away from here for a few months and was employed at the Western hotel. On Sunday she attended both services at Knox church. The events following this are thus told by the Reporter: "As she approached the corner of South Water and Concession sheets on her way home she suddenly felt faint and was obliged to lean on the arm of a gentleman who was passing for support. She was taken into the home of Mr. Wm, Coats, but asked to be moved to the door where she could get fresh air. There the sick woman fainted and Dr. Hawk was hurriedly called, while in the meantime everything possible was done for her. But it was of no avail, for she passed quietly away before the doctor arrived, death being due to heart failure. The body was removed to Anderson's morgue." The deceased, who was 60 years of age, was born here and had resided in the village the most if not all her life. She was well-known and respected. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, interment being made in the Ayr cemetery, when a number of friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed. The services were conducted by Rev. John Thomson. Two brothers survive, Samuel in Nova Scotia and William in Stratford, Ont., while several nieces reside in Ayr.
