    GINGRICH, Leonard G. Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener at the age of 89. Loving father of Gary and his wife Pauline, Marlin and his wife Nadine, Wendy Gingrich and her husband Chris Blanche, and Kevin. Cherished grandfather of Julia Gingrich, Kristen Berg and her husband Bryan, Noel Gingrich and his wife Sarah, Bryn Gingrich, Michael Bayne and his wife Chrystal, Tedd Bayne, and Brandon, Justin and Brittany Blanche. Special great-grandfather to Oliver, Miriam, Braidon, Reanna, Parice, Preston and Rielynn. Dear brother of Mervin and his wife Delphine. Leonard will be remembered by the Burkhart family along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his beloved wife Doris (nee Burkhart), daughter Charlotte at birth and his parents Amos and Susanna Gingrich. Born on a farm in Waterloo Township, Leonard farmed with his father during his early adult years, then moved to Waterloo with his wife Doris. He then drove a fuel truck for Texaco, delivering to rural areas north of Waterloo for 38 years. Many of his customers remember him as "Gas Len." He retired in 1992 and enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing Solo. Friends are invited to share their memories of Leonard with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place on Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1310 King Street, in St. Jacobs at 11: 00 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Derksen and Pastor Mark Diller Harder presiding. A reception to follow in the church hall. A private interment will take place at St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery before the service.     The house on Country Squire (now Bridge St.) was the Snyder-Gingrich house, part of Schneider's Corner (3 farmhouses, 4 lots). The top floor logs were rebuilt as the Quilt House at the St. Jacobs Market (closed now)

    Gingrich, Susanna, daughter of Israel and Lovina (Snyder) Gingrich, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., July 9, 1898; died at the K-W Hospital on May 7, 1980; aged 81 y.     BURKHART. - Herbert E. Burkhart was born in N. Woolwich Twp., Ont., on Aug. 29, 1889, and died in the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital on Sunday morning, May 4, 1941; aged 51 y. 8 m. 5 d. He leaves to mourn his very unexpected departure: his wife, formerly Irene Woolner, to whom he was married Nov. 12, 1913; his mother, Mrs. Hannah Burkhart of St. Jacobs; 3 sons; Homer, of Breslau, Roy, of Kitchener, Wayne, at home; 6 daughters: Viola, Lauretta, Martha, and Ellen at home, Ruby of Breslau, Doris of Kitchener; 5 brothers: Clarence of Guernsey, Sask., Irvin of Goshen, Ind., Emerson, Lloyd, and Gordon of Kitchener; 4 sisters: Mrs. Irvin Martin of Edson, Alta., Mrs. Mervin Shantz of Alma, Mrs. Abner Musselman of St. Jacobs, and Mrs. Zenas Cressman of New Hamburg. Bro. Burkhart accepted Christ when about 18 years of age, and became a member of the Mennonite Church at Floradale.     BURKHART, Irene, daughter of the late John and Hannah Woolner, was born near Kitchener, Ont., March 26, 1891; died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Bowman, Kitchener, Ont., after a brief illness, May 15, 1958; aged 67 y. 1 m. 19 d. On Nov. 12, 1913, she was married to Herbert E. Burkhart, who predeceased her May 4, 1941. After her marriage she resided at Breslau and Bridgeport, Ont., until 4 years ago when she gave up housekeeping to live with her daughters. Surviving are 3 sons (Homer, Galt (now Cambridge), Ont.; Roy, Breslau, Ont.; and Wayne, Kitchener, Ont.), 6 daughters (Viola - Mrs. Andrew Bowman, Ruby - Mrs. Edmund Martin, and Lauretta, all of Kitchener, Ont., Doris - Mrs. Leonard Gingerich, Martha - Mrs. Aden Weber, and Ellen - Mrs. Clare Martin, all of Waterloo, Ont.), 23 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Nelson and Vernon, both of Kitchener, Ont.), and one sister (Mrs. Elmina Cressman, Preston, Ont.). One brother and one sister preceded her in death. At the age of 17 she was baptized and united with the First Mennonite Church in Kitchener, later transferring her membership in the Cressman Mennonite Church, where she was a faithful member until death.     Moses Gingerich

    On Tuesday of this week death removed one of this district's oldest and most valued residents in the person of Moses Gingerich, whose demise was caused through a hardening of the arteries. He had been ill for sometime, and passed away at the home of his on Eli on the Fourth Line of Peel. He was born in Woolwich township on the Henry Gingrich farm, situated below Elmira, and was a lifelong member of the Mennonite church. Forty-five years ago, he was married to Mollie Hallman. After living for five years on the farm now occupied by Ephraim Martin, Mr. Gingerich moved to the homestead on which he resided until the time of his death. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Orias of Guernsey, Sask., Amos of near Waterloo; Nelson, near Elmira and Eli on the homestead, and three daughters, Mrs. Seranus Martin, of Floradale; Mr. A. Martin of Peel township and Mrs. Edwin Snyder of Waterloo.

    The funeral takes place this (Thurs-day) afternoon from his late home to the Menonnite burying grounds of Upper Woolwich.

    Gingrich-Magdalena (Mollie) Bauman Gingrich was born in Waterloo Co.,. Ont,. Sept 18, 1856; died April 16, 1944; aged 87 y. 6 m. 29 d. She had been in failing health since January, gradually growing weaker until she passed away peacefully at the home of their daughter, Mrs. .Seranus Martin, Floradale. She was married Oct. 29, 1876 to Henry Shantz and moved to Marybourough Twp.,. where they lived until he died Aug 12, 1879. Two children were born to the union. On Oct 26, 1884 she was united in marriage to Moses Gingrich and moved to Peel Twp.,. where they resided until he died June 23, 1931. Eight children were born to the union. She continued to make her home with her son Eli on the old homestead until 2 1/2 years ago, when she made her home with her daughter. She leaves to mourn her departure 9 children; Hannah ( Mrs., Henry Brubacher) Elmire; Henry Cyrenius Shantz, Guernsey, Sask.; Rebekah ( Mrs. Ananias Martin) Peel Twp.; Blandina ( Mrs. Seranus Martin Floradale; Leah .( Mrs. Edwin Snyder) Waterloo Twp.; Ozias, Elmira; Amos, Waterloo Twp.; Eli on the old homestead. Also surviving are one sister ( Mrs. David Martin) 57 grandchildren, and 46 great grandchildren. One son, Urias, predeceased her 32 years ago. Funeral services were held April 19, at the North Woolwich Mennonite Church of which she was a member, in charge of Bishop Amsey Martin, assisted by Bro. George Brubacher.

She was born February 8th, 1865. They reside on the west third of lot No. 63, German Company's Tract, Waterloo Township, about one-half mile east of the Martin Mennonite Meeting House, Christian B. Snyder's old place. They have a family of four children".

    Gingrich.-Israel B. Gingrich was born Aug. 22, 1863, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Aug. 23, 1937; aged 74 y. 1 d. Throughout his life-time he was a resident of Waterloo County. Death was due to the after effects of a serious paralytic stroke of three years ago. In the intervening period he enjoyed rather good health, but three days before his death he again became ill. He became gradually weaker and passed quietly away. On January 3, 1888 he was married to Lovina Snyder. This marriage was blest with 8 children, only 5 of whom survive. Two sons and 1 daughter (Mrs. Menno R. Eby) predeceased him. There remain the mother in the home, 2 sons (Manasseh and Freeman). and 3 daughters (Leah, Mrs. Amos B. Gingrich, and Mrs. David B. Snyder) all of Waterloo, Ont. He was a member of St. Jacobs, Ont., Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held Aug. 26, in charge of Bros. Roy Koch and Jonas Snyder.     Israel married Lovina Snyder 3 Jan 1888, Waterloo Twp., Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. Lovina (daughter of Christian B.     Gingrich.-Lovina Snyder was born Feb. 8, 1865; died July 18, 1939; aged 74 y. 5 m. 10 d. On Jan. 3, 1888, she was married to Israel B. Gingrich who predeceased her two years ago. To this union were born 8 children. Those who survive are Manasseh of Waterloo, Freeman and Leah (Mrs. Addison Snider) of Elmira, Mrs. Amos Gingrich, Mrs. David B. Snyder of Waterloo. Two sons (Simon and Allan) and 1 daughter (Mrs. Menno Eby) predeceased her. One sister (Mrs. Isaac Hilborn, Kitchener), and 15 grandchildren also survive. She was a lifelong resident of Waterloo Twp., and early united with the Mennonite Church to which she remained faithful to the end. About two months ago she was stricken with a heart attack from which she never recovered. Funeral services were conducted at the St. Jacobs Mennonite Church in charge of Brethren Roy S. Koch and Jonas Snider.

    Mrs. Israel B. Gingrich

    A lifelong resident of Waterloo township, Mrs. Israel B. Gingrich, 74, died early on Tuesday after an illness of two months, at her home, R.R. 1, Waterloo. Deceased, who was born Feb. 8, 1865, is survived by two sons, Manasseh of Waterloo and Freeman of Elmira; three daughters, Mrs. Addison Snider of Elmira, Mrs. Amos Gingrich and Mrs. David B. Snyder, both of Waterloo, a sister, Mrs. Isaac Hilborn of Kitchener, and 15 grandchildren. Her husband died two years ago. Two sons, Alan and Simon, and a daughter, Mrs. Menno Eby, also predeceased her. Funeral services were held Thursday at her late residence with Rev. Roy Koch and Bishop Jonas Snider officiating. Services were held in St. Jacobs Mennonite church with burial in Martin's Mennonite cemetery.

    Woolner. - John S. Woolner was born near Kossuth, Ont., Aug. 23, 1855; died at the home of his son-in-law, Geo. A. Weber, near Kitchener, Ont., on March 20, 1925; aged 69 y. 6 m. 28 d. In 1878 he was married to Hannah Clemmer, who with three sons (Addison, Nelson, and Vernon) and three daughters (Mrs. Geo. A. Weber, Mrs. Levi Cressman, and Mrs. Herbert Burkhart), together with 26 grandchildren and three brothers (Jacob, Martin, and Solomon) are left to mourn his departure. Bro. Woolner united with the Mennonite Church in 1885, of which he remained a consistent member. During the last number of years his mental powers failed him, having been deprived of speaking for nearly three years. Funeral services were held on the 23rd at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, with the brethren, C. F. Derstine and Oscar Burkholder, in charge. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the church.

    The Woolner Farmstead buildings, located at 748 Zeller Drive, are situated in the north end of the City of Kitchener on 6.47 acres off scenic Zeller drive. The original Mennonite Georgian farmhouse and outbuildings were constructed in 1830. The farmhouse addition was built circa 1858, and the barn and concrete silo were built circa 1870.

    Woolner. - Hannah (Clemmer) Woolner was born near Breslau, Ont., Feb. 24, 1857; died after a brief illness at the home of her son-in-law, Bro. and Sister Geo. A. Weber near German Mills on Aug. 31, 1931; aged 74 y. 6 m. 7 d. Sister Woolner was the last of the seven children of the Abram Clemmer family. She was married to John Woolner who predeceased her over 6 years ago. Seven children were born to this union, one of whom (Luanna) died in infancy. Those surviving are, Malinda (Mrs. Geo. A. Weber) of German Mills; Elmina (Mrs. Levi Cressman) of Breslau; Addison and Nelson of Natchez; Irene (Mrs. Herbert Burkhart) of Breslau, and Vernon of Manheim. There are also 29 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Sister Woolner was converted and united with the Mennonite Church about 46 years ago and remained faithful to the end.
