    UTTLEY, Howard (Sonny) -- On Friday, June 13, 1980, at the K-W Hospital, after a brief illness, Howard (Sonny) Uttley, aged 57 years, of 126 Fourth Ave., Kitchener.

    Survived by his wife Bernadine; his four sons, Wayne, Rodney, Bob and Larry; his two daughters, Carol and Sharon; his two brothers, Russell Jr. of Kitchener, and Earl of New Brunswick; his four sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Mac Coffen), Violet (Mrs. Edgar Currie) and Ruth (Mrs. Mike Dickson), all of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents, Russell and Ida Uttley and sister, Jean (Mrs. Dick Pfeiffer).

    He was an employee of Marion Sod Supply for the past eight years.

    Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after 7 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral and committal service in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel on Monday, at 3 p.m. Interment will be made in Woodland cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be shown by donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mother of Wayne and his wife Marie Uttley, Rod and his wife Lena Uttley, all of Elmira, Robert Uttley of Vancouver, B.C., Carol Joy and her husband Alec Purves of Kitchener, Larry and his wife Judy Woods (Uttley) of Cambridge, Sharon and her husband Douglas Ghent of Petersburg; grandmother of 18 grandchildren; sister of Gordon and his wife Marlene Martz of RR 2, Princeton. Predeceased by brothers, Gilbert Martz and Jerome Martz. Friends were received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock, where the funeral service was held on Sunday evening, Sept. 10, 1995 at 8 p.m. The interment service was held at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg, today (Monday) at 10 a.m. Rev. Father Victor McNamara of Holy Family RC Church, New Hamburg, officiated. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider a charity of their own choice.

    Russell Uttley

    Russell Uttley of 126 Fourth Ave. died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 83.

    He was a resident of the Twin Cities for 68 years and was employed as a moulder at Canada Valve Ltd. six years until his retirement in 1946.

    He served with the 118th Battalion overseas during the First World War.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Uttley, he was born in Elmira Dec. 20, 1887. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

    He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ida Myers[sic].

    Surviving are three sons, Howard and Russell, both of Kitchener, and Earl of Saint John, N.B.; five daughters, Mrs. Maxwell (Hazel) Coffen, Mrs. Frederick (Violet) Hofheinz, Mrs. Elsie Currie and Mrs. John Dickson, all of Kitchener and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Pfieffer of Chelmsford; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Bone of Port Hope; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where Rev. Arthur McDowell of Highland Baptist Church will conduct the funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Donations to the Highland Baptist Church building fund will be accepted as expressions of sympathy,

    MRS. RUSSELL UTTLEY

    Mrs. Russell Uttley, 261A King Street West, died at her home last night at the age of 53 years. Death followed a stroke. Mrs Uttley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hezekiah Meyers, was born in Wilmot Centre, Sept. 5, 1888. She attended Benton Street Baptist Church.

    Surviving are her husband, three sons, Howard, Earl and Russell, Jr., all of Kitchener, five daughters, Mrs. Herbert Benedict, Mrs. Frederick Hofheinz, Mrs. Edgar Currie and Mrs. William Dickson of Kitchener and Miss Jean Uttley, Galt, five sisters. Mrs. Miranda Nahrgang, New Hamburg, Mrs. Susannah Manser, Mrs. Isabelle Eby and Mrs. Ephriam Ernst, Kitchener, and Mrs. Emma Hieronimus of Crosshill and by seven grandchildren. Two brothers, Albanus and James Meyers, and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Eckensviller, predeceased her.

    The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home at 2 o'clock. Interment will take place in Woodland Cemetery. Rev. Clarence M. Keen, pastor of Benton Street Baptist Church, will conduct the services. The remains are resting at the funeral home.

    One of Sudbury's grand old men, John Robert Uttley, died Tuesday , at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. R. H. Tucker, of Fesserton, Ont., in his 91st year.

    Mr. Uttley worked at his regular employment as stationary engineer at the Sudbury Brewing & Malting Company until shortly before his death.

    Born in Elmira, Ont., Mr. Uttley was educated and qualified as a steam engineer there. He moved to Waterloo in 1887, and came to Copper Cliff in 1914. He had been employed with the brewing company continuously for the past 30 years.

    Husband of the late Catherine Birmingham, he was also the father of two daughters, Mrs. Henry Bassett, of Coniston, and Mrs. Cecile Bone, of Port Hope, and three sons, William, of Copper Cliff, and Gordon and Russell, of Kitchener.

    Funeral services will be held in the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral home, Kitchener, on Friday at 2 p.m. internment will be in Waterloo Cemetery.

    Mr. Jacob Martz passed away on Tuesday forenoon as a result of a paralytic stroke at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John A. Rumig, at the Imperial Hotel. He had been in robust health up to the time he was stricken. The deceased had lived retired for the past 18 years, after farming successfully in South Easthope for many years. The deceased was born at St. Agatha on May 9th, 1853, and 55 years ago was married to Caroline Dietrich after which he settled on the farm. He was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church and was well known and esteemed in the neighborhood where he spent his whole life. There are left to mourn him his widow, four sons and three daughters, namely, John and Alex, of Kitchener, Nelson and Charles, of South Easthope, Mrs. J. A. Rumig, of New Hamburg, Mrs. Charles A. Montag, of Burlington, and Mrs. Timothy Hamilton, of Allandale. He is also survived by three brothers, August Martz, of Superior, Wisc.; Joseph, of Everett, Mich., and Frank, of Gooderham, Ont. The funeral will be held on Saturday forenoon to Holy Family Church followed by interment in the local R. C. Cemetery.
