JACOB LUCKHARDT was a native of Kurhessen, Germany. He came to Canada in 1859 and for a number of years worked for Mr. Louis Breithaupt in Berlin. Here he was married, during the first year of his stay, to Annie Catharine Pfeffer, the ceremony being performed by Rev. C. F. A. Kuenzmann. They afterwards moved onto a farm in Grey County and later to Maryboro Township where they continued to reside, until ten years ago, when they moved to Elmira. Of a family of 12 children only 6 survive, namely: -Jacob E. on the old homestead in Maryboro, John P. in Elmira, Dieter C. in Montreal, Andrew in Chatanooga, Tennessee, Mrs. James Streeter also in Chatanooga, and Susie at home. Deceased was of an active, industrious and economical disposition and by exercising these qualities managed to lay by something for his declining years. He enjoyed good health until the last few years when he was occasionaly though not seriously, troubled with his stomach. About two weeks ago however, a serious stomach trouble set in, and in spite of all that medical skill could do, he became gradually weaker until he died.

Deceased was born in Hessen, Germany, 69 years ago, emigrated to Canada when quite young, lived with her husband and family in Berlin, Normanby and Maryborough and later retired to Elmira. After the death of her husband, deceased lived in a house of her own until deeming strength rendered it necessary for her to break up housekeeping, whereafter she lived with her son John, where she enjoyed the best of care until death relieved her. She was highly respected by all who knew her and will be much missed by those with whom her life had thrown her into contact.

LUCKHARDT, At Elmira, after a short illness of pneumonia, Anna Catharine Pfeffer, widow of the late Jacob Luckhardt, aged 74 years, 10 months and 12 days. The funeral takes place this (Thursday) afternoon, 2 o'clock.

Mrs. J. D. Reising

One of the kindliest, quaintest and most sprightly old ladies of Hanover passed away on Wednesday night of last week, in the person of Mrs. J. D. Reising. Death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Knechtel, with whom she had been living since the death of her husband in 1911. Deceased had reached the advanced age of 82 years, 11 months and 23 days, and death was due to a complication of diseases from which she had suffered for several months. She kept up her interest in passing events until the very last and in the end slept quietly away. The late Mrs. Reising was a particularly fine old lady. She possessed an exceptionally cheery disposition and was the friend of everyone who she knew-and her acquaintance was large. She exemplified what has been escribed as "perennial youth." In any gathering in which she happened to be she was always one of the jolliest members, even after she was up in years. Deceased was born in Freiburg, Germany, in 1836, her maiden name being Louise Stadelbauer. Accompanied by a younger brother, she emigrated to Canada in 1855, and the same year married Mr. J. D. Reising, of Toronto. He was then employed on the decorations of the first Rossin House. After living for some time in Toronto they moved to Elmira, then to Albany, N. Y., and later back to Elmira where they spent the major part of their married life. They came to Hanover in 1907. They had six children in all two of whom died in infancy, and one daughter, at the age of 21 years. The surviving members of the family are: Mrs. Luckhardt, of Vancouver, B. C.; Mrs. Dash of Kipling, Sask., and Mrs. Knechtel, of Hanover. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. Deceased was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon to the Hanover cemetery and was very largely attended. Rev. Twietmeyer conducted the services. Hanover Post.
