    DEATH OF MRS. SARAH McKAY

    The many friends of the relatives of Mrs. Sarah McKay, relict of the late Donald McKay, will regret to learn of her death, which took place on Friday evening, at the home of her son, Mr. J. F. McKay, Queen street. The deceased has been in poor health for the last few weeks, due to old age and she passed peacefully away in the hope of a bright rising again. She was a daughter or the late John and Mary Durrant, Waterloo Tp. and was born 78 years ago, in Suffolk County, England. She came to this country with her parents in 1831 and was married in 1845, to the late Donald McKay, who predeceased her two years ago. The deceased leaves a family of three sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of a loving mother, viz, J. F. McKay, of the Daily Telegraph staff; J. D. McKay, editor of the Newmarket Express; William McKay, of Rosebank, Manitoba; Mrs. McMillan, of Guelph and Christina, of San Francisco, Cal. The deceased was a respected member of the Methodist Church, for over 80 years. The funeral will take place from her son's, Mr. J. F. McKay's residence, Queen street, on Monday afternoon, at one o'clock, to the Winterbourne Methodist cemetery.

    It is not often in the present state of the world's history, that a father is privileged to see grow up and prosper around him children, grand-children and great-grand-children. However, such was the case with Mr. John Durrant of Winterbourne, who celebrated the 87th anniversary of his birth yesterday (Thursday), he passed the flight of time...Mr. Durrant came to this country in the year 1831, from Winterbourne, England and took up temporary abode at or near where Guelph now stands. He remained there but one year, and in 1832 removed to and settled on a farm within two and a half miles of Winterbourne, where he has remained until the present time, having cleared some six hundred acres of land. Though crippled with rheumatism, he still retains his ordinary faculties, and until within a year ago has always been exceedingly vigorous...
