    Obituary of Alice Roth - 1926-2007

    Peacefully passed away at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, on Friday, May 4, 2007, at age 81.

    Beloved wife of the late Edgar Roth; loving mother of Richard and his wife Trudy; special grandma of Steven (Michelle); dear sister-law of Eileen and Richard Wilhelm, and Betty and Gerry Schwartz. Also will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

    Alice was predeceased by her parents, Rudy and Mary (Kipfer) Lichty and sister-in-law, Doris Stere.

    Alice was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. Special thanks to the entire staff of Sunnyside Home, especially to the loving caregivers of Buttonworks and Dr. Mather and Dr. Landy who kept her comfortable.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Alice with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Alice?s life and faith will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.

    Of 91 Queen St. E., Wellesley, died suddenly Thursday, at his home, born in Mornington Township 72 years ago, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Lichty.

    Beloved husband of Mary Kipfer; father of Alice (Mrs. Edgar Roth) of Kitchener; brother of Christian of Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton; dear grandfather of Richard Roth; predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

    Friends may call at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley. The family will receive friends this evening from 7-9 and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9. At noon Sunday, December 1, the remains will be removed to the Poole Mennonite Church for the service at 2:30. Rev. Amsey Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St , W. Wellesley, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday. Jan 4.1991 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Wednesday removal will be made to Poole Mennonite Church. for the funeral service at 2 p in. Pastor David Rogalskv will officiate.     Kipfer.-John G. Kipfer passed away at the home of his son, Ephraim Kipfer, Mornington, Ont., Dec. 16, 1941; aged 72 y. 6 m. 16 d. He had not been enjoying good health for a number of years. On Dec. 7 he suffered a slight stroke from which he passed away nine days later. He was a son of the late John S. and Marie (Gerber) Kipfer. He was born on the third line of Mornington on June 1, 1869, and spent his entire life in this locality. On Oct. 8, 1889, he was married at Kingwood to Catherine Jantzi. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons and 4 daughters: Ephraim, fifth line; Isaac, Milverton; Herman, third line; Lavinia (Mrs. Alvin Kropf), fifth line; Mary Ann (Mrs. Rudy Lichty), north of Poole; Ruby (Mrs. Norman Poole), third line; Irene (Mrs. Percy Schlenter), Linwood. One son (Abe), the eldest of the family, died in 1918. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 1 brother (Solomon, of Tavistock), and 2 sisters (Mrs. Annie Albrecht, of Milverton, and Mary Kipfer, of Poole). The funeral was held from the home of his son Ephraim, where a short service was held by Bro. Christian Brunk, assisted by Bro. Christian Lichty. Further services were held at the Poole Amish Mennonite Church, of which he was a lifelong member, conducted by Bro. Sam Leis in German and Bro. Peter Nafziger in English. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

    Kipfer-Mrs. John G. Kipfer (nee Catherine Jantzi) daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Jantzi; was born in Wellesley, Twp., April 21, 1868; passed away April 6, 1944, at the home of her daughter, Irene, Linwood, Ont; aged 75 y 11 m 16 d. She had been in failing health since December after a stroke, but was able to be up in her wheel chair until a week before her dearth. On Oct. 8, 1888, she was united in marriage to John G. Kipfer, who predeceased her Dec 16, 1941. Since then she made her home with the members of her family. She was a faithful member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church. Surviving are 3 sons and 4 daughters.; Ephraim, Isaac, Herman, Lavina ( Mrs. Alvin Kropf), Mary Ann ( Mrs. Rudy Lichty), Ruby (Mrs. Norman Poole) all of Mornington Twp.; and Irene ( Mrs. Percy Schleuter), Linwood Ont.; also 3 sisters; Mrs. Annie Gerber, Mrs. Fannie Gerber and Mrs. Rachel Litwiler; 19 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The funeral which was largely attended, took place April 8, at the home of her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Schleuter, conducted by Bro., Christ Brunk, and at the Poole A.M. Church by Bishop Christ Schulz and Bro. Peter Nafziger. Interment was made in adjoining cemetery. Mourn not for me, my life is past; You kindly loved me, to the last. Oh haste to Christ, make no delay. For no one knows his dying day. By a daughter.

    Schultz. - Mary Schultz (born Kennel) died Dec. 20, 1906, at her home in Wellesley Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont.; aged 67 Y., 3 M., 23 D. She was twice married, first to John E. Lichty, with whom she lived in matrimony twelve years. To this union were born five children. After his death she was married to George Schultz, with whom she lived in matrimony nearly thirty-three years. To this union were born three children. She leaves, to mourn her death, a sorrowing husband and six children, two having gone before her. Sister Schultz was a consistent member of the Amish church since her youth and may well have been called a mother in Israel. She was buried Dec. 22, in the graveyard adjoining the Wellesley meeting-house; funeral services by Peter Spenler at the house, and Christian Zehr, Sr., and Nicholas Nafziger at the meeting-house.
