David Ziegler, 85, of Elmira, died Monday at a Guelph nursing home following a lengthy illness. He was born April 17, 1860, at St. Jacobs. The late Mr. Ziegler attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira.

Surviving are two sons, Addison of Kitchener and Andrew of Elmira; five daughters, Mrs. L. W. (Florence) Koser, Winnipeg, Mrs. Clara Evers, Guelph, Mrs. Minnie Witter, Galt, Mrs. Otto (Thelma) Wille, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Walter (Verina) Sutton, Kitchener; two brothers, William, Elkton, Mich., and Charles, Akron, Mich., and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Soehner, Kitchener and Mrs. Charles Soehner, Elkton, Mich. His wife predeceased him in 1926. Two sons and a daughter also predeceased him. Seven grand children and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Remains are resting at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel, Elmira, from where the funeral service will be held. on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. Burial will be made in Elmira Cemetery. Rev. F. Malinsky will officiate.

Mrs. David Ziegler passed away at her home at 31 Factory street on Monday, May 17, after a severe and lingering illness which extended over a period of 19 months. She was born in September 1866. a mile and a half from Elmira, being the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Randall. Her whole life practically was spent in this community, she having lived this 44 years at her home on Factory street.

She is survived by her husband, and out of a family of ten children, eight are living. They are: Addison of Kitchener; Florence (Mrs. Koser) of Winnipeg; Andrew of El mira; Clara (Mrs. Evers) of Guelph Minnie (Mrs. Witter) of Kitchener; Thelma (Mrs. Halliday) at home; Verna (Mrs. Sutton) of Kitchener and Ruth of Toronto. She also leaves her aged father, John Randall, of Elmira; two sisters, Mrs. Willian Wilken of Elmwood, Neb.. and Mrs. Henry Kraft of Elmira; and one brother Jacob Randall of Preston, besides six grandchildren. The funeral was held from her late residence on Thursday, at two o clock to St. Paul's Lutheran church and thence to St. James's cemetery for interment.

On Friday of last week, the earthly remains of Katherine Ziegler, mother of David Ziegler, Elmira, were buried in the Lutheran Cemetery here. Deceased died on the 13^th at the asylum at London where she had spent the last 33 years suffering from mental derangement. A funeral service was held in the Lutheran church; where a large number of friends, gathered in honour of the deceased. The husband of the deceased lay ill at the home of one of the sons in Michigan, and could not be at the funeral ??? the age of 76 years and leaves behind her husband, 5 sons, 3 daughters, ? grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Randall Dead Resident Since '55

Funeral of Pioneer Citizen Held on Tuesday; Lived in Same Home 60 Years

Final respects were paid to the late John Randall, aged 84, and pioneer Elmira citizen, who was laid to rest in Elmira Cemetery, Tuesday afternoon, The funeral took place from his late residence, Factory street, to St. Paul's Lutheran church, and, thence to the cemetery.

The late Mr. Randall was born on January 15, 1843, at Glanford, Wentworth County. He came to Elmira with his parents when he was about 12 years of age. He has resided in this vicinity ever since, occupying the same home for the past 60 years. In 1864 he married Wilhelmina Rapien, who predeceased him five years ago. Of the nine children born to them, only three are living. They are: Mrs. Henry Kraft, Elmira; Mrs. William Wilken, Elmwood, Neb.; and Jacob Randall, Preston. Two brothers and one sister also survive, Sam Randall, of Palmerston; Joseph Randall, of Kitchener, and Mrs. George Cathrae, of Elmira. There are also 18 grandchildren.

The late Mr. Randall has always been hale and hearty and only during the last year or so has he been ailing. Death was due to pneumonia. All children, with the exception of Mrs. Wilken, of Elmwood, Neb., who was ill, were present at the funeral.

The Late Mrs. John Randall

On Sunday afternoon, Christmas Day, the remains of the late Wilhelmina Rapien, the beloved wife of Mr. John Randall was laid to rest at the Elmira Union Cemetery. Rev. A. Gallmeier conducted the funeral services. The late Mrs. Randall was in her 79th year, she was born in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, village of Mathof, and came [to] Canada in June 1857, then 14 years of age, and with her parents settled in Waterloo County. In 1864 she married John Randall of Kitchener. They came and have ever since lived in Elmira. She had been always in the very best of health, until some time ago, she suffered a stroke. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, three daughters and one son. Mrs. David Ziegler of Elmira, Mrs. Wm Wilkin of Elmwood, Nebraska, Mrs. Henry Kraft, Elmira and Jacob Randall of Preston. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock at the home to St. Paul's Lutheran church for services thence to the Union Cemetery for burial.

Deceased was well known throughout the riding and was the oldest citizen in that village. He was of a genial disposition and well liked by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, six sons and four daughters to mourn his decease. His sons will act as pall bearers.

Berlin's Oldest Resident Passed Away Monday in the Person of Mrs. Randall.

HAD A LARGE FAMILY

The death of one of Berlin's oldest residents took place at 1 o'clock on Monday afternoon in the person of Mrs. Sarah Goodin, relict of the late William Randall, of Elmira, at the residence of her son, Mr. Charles Randall, King street east. The deceased was born in Renton, England, on December 25th, 1806, and had she lived until next Christmas she would have been 100 years old. She had been in good health until about a month ago, when she gradually became weaker owing to old age, and her end was peaceful.

The deceased came to Canada when 18 years of age and resided in Quebec City, where two years later she married her deceased husband. Shortly after they moved to Hamilton and resided there for ten years. They then moved to Elmira, and resided there almost fifty years. The late W. Randall died about eight years ago and since that time the deceased widow has resided with her son, Charles.

The couple were blessed with 18 children, seven of whom survive, namely, John, Elmira, and Henry, Zurich (twins); Charlotte Linder, Floradale; Joseph, Floradale; Samuel, Palmerston; Caroline, Elmira; and Charles, Berlin. The deceased is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, thus making five generations at the death of Mrs. Randall.

The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the residence of Mr. Chas. Randall, King street, to the Elmira cemetery.

Almost A Centarian

There died at Berlin, last Monday, Mrs. Randall, a former resident of Elmira, aged 99 years, 6 months and 15 days. Deceased was well known here having lived here from the time Elmira was but a hamlet until a few years ago when she removed to Berlin to live with her son Charles. She was in spite of her high age, able to be about until within the last year or so. She was a member of a large family and many of her descendants still live in Elmira and vicinity. Mr. J. Randall and Mrs. Cathrae of Elmira and Mr. Jos. Randall of Floradale are amongst those of her children who remain in this district. The funeral of the deceased took place at Elmira yesterday and was attended by many of the older residents of the village and neighborhood.
