    Cassel. - On February 7th, 1906, near New Dundee, Ont., Bro. Jesse B. Cassel, who was born in Montgomery Co., Pa., Aug. 20, 1827, and was thus in his 79th year. He contracted pneumonia only about five days before he died. He leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters to mourn his death. His end was peace. Funeral services at the Blenheim Mennonite Church, Feb. 10. Bro. Noah Stauffer preached in German from II Tim. 4: 8 and Bro. E. S. Hallman in English from I Cor. 15: 57, to a full house. Interment in the cemetery adjoining.

    Lydia Schwartz, relict of the late Henry Clemens, died at Elmwood, Bruce Co. on Friday, May 18th aged 73 years and 11 months. The remains were brought to Thedford by G.T.R. on Monday afternoon and there to Ravenswood Methodist church where the service was conducted by Rev. R.S. Lachland, interment in Ravenswood Cemetery. Deceased with her late husband moved from Waterloo Township in Waterloo County to Lambton shortly after their marriage and about 40 years ago came to Bosanquet where they resided until the death of Mr. Clemens in November, 1898, his death occurring with startling suddenness, when he was feeling unusually well. Without a moment of warning as he was going about, he suddenly fell and expired at once. Two sons are dead and she is survived by four sons and two daughters, Isaac of Marlette, Michigan; Simon of Victoria B.C.; Jesse of Ravenswood; John E. of Moosejaw, Mrs. W.D. Cassells of Pennsylvania; Mrs. Allan Hallman of Waterloo: and Sarah, unmarried who always lived with her mother.

In the year 1849 Mr. and Mrs. Cassel, with their family, moved to Canada and settled with their son, Abraham at Blair, Ontario, where they resided until their son, Jesse, purchased his farm near New Dundee, then they made their home with him until Mr. Cassel's death which took place September 9th, 1866.     It is thought she is the daughter of John Biehn and Nancy Bechtel although The Biographical History of Waterloo Township indicates she was the daughter of John's father and his wife Barbara Fried. More research is needed to confirm.

In 1809 he came to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, near Hespeler. He was married in 1813 to Margaret Miller, who was born in July, 1789, and died October 18th, 1861. They resided on the farm now in possession of Noah Scheirich, about three miles north-east of Preston where they commenced to farm soon after their marriage. To them were born nine children"

    Clemens, - on the 6th of January, in Waterloo Co. Ont., of the infirmities of old age and dropsy, Bro Jesse Clemens, aged 90 yrs.,6 mos. and 24 days. he was born in Chester Co.Pa in 1791 and was a faithful member (sp) of the Mennonite Church. He bore his bodily afflictions with great patience, and showed an unbroken faith in Christ to the end. He was buried in Hagey's burying ground. services in English and German by J. Woolner.
