    HOFFER, Terry Lynn Peacefully passed away with her daughters by her side on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Lisaard House, Cambridge, at the age of 56 years. Dear mother of Christina Hahn and Jeffrey Myers, and Ashley Hahn. Loving Nanna to Tyseer, Maisan, and Madison. Beloved daughter of Don and Estelle Hoffer. Terry Lynn is remembered by "the best brother in the world" Larry and Barb Hoffer, and by her nieces and their families. Predeceased by her mother Ruth (Fach) Hoffer (2014) and her brother Randy (1980). Terry Lynn was a longtime faithful employee at the LCBO stores. The family will receive their relatives and friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.     Passed away peacefully at his home in Elmira on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the age of 93.

    Donnie was the beloved husband of Estelle (Noel) Hoffer. Dear father of Larry and Barb Hoffer. Loving grandfather of Leah (Wayne) Miller, Tanya (Jeremy) Bott, Shanna Hoffer (Frank Schuster), Christina Hahn (Jeff Myers), and Ashley Hahn.

    Also lovingly remembered by Estelle's family, children Linda (Stephen) Crew and William (Shari) Holdam, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

    Predeceased by his son Randy, daughter Terry-Lynn Hoffer, and brothers Murray (Leota) Hoffer and Raymond Hoffer.

    Donnie operated Ervin S. Hoffer Sand and Gravel for most of his life and enjoyed flying his plane in his spare time.

    HOFFER, Ruth (Fach) January 28, 1930 - March 30, 2014 Ruth has fulfilled her final wish - to "Meet her Maker" but in doing so she has left to mourn the loves of her life, her son Larry (Barb) and her daughter Terry, her granddaughters Tonia (Jeremy Bott), Christina, Shanna (Frank Schuster), Leah (Wayne Miller) and Ashley Hahn, and her great-grandchildren Coleton, Gage, Tyseer, Maisen, Danielle and Cassie.     Ervin S. Hoffer, 22 Church St. E., Elmira, died Sunday at K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 74.

    Born Nov. 18, 1893 in Woolwich Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Hoffer. He had owned and operated the E.S. Hoffer sand and gravel business since 1928 and was a former road foreman for Elmira. Mr. Hoffer was a member of Zion United Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

    His wife, the former Nora Riffer predeceased him in 1953. Surviving are two sons, Murray and Donald, both of Elmira; one brother Arthur of Elora; one sister, Mrs. Walter (Angeline) Fulton of Toronto and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son Raymond, one brother and one sister.

    The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor where Rev. M.E. Reuber conducted the service in the chapel on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Burial was in Elmira cemetery.

    Mrs. Ervin Hoffer

    ELMIRA - Mrs. Ervin Hoffer, 63, of 22 Church St., Elmira, died Sunday at her home after a short illness. Born in Elmira, she lived here all her life. She was the former Eleanora Riffer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Riffer.

    Mrs. Hoffer was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethern Church and the Women's Society of World Service at the church. She was a past noble grand of Trillium Rebekah Lodge, Elmira.

    Surviving are her husband, two sons, Murray and Donald of Elmira, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Carnegie of Niagara Falls, N.Y. One son, Raymond, died in 1941 and three brothers and one sister also predeceased her.

    The funeral will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel, Elmira, Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. C.B. Heckendorn of Zion Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmira Cemetery. The body is resting at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor

    Mr. Nicholas B. Hoffer, a well-known resident of Upper Pilkington, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 6th at his home there, following a lingering illness.

    Mr. Hoffer was born in Woolwich Township and lived in Elmira several years before moving to the farm about twenty years ago. He was in his 71st year.

    Surviving are his widow (nee Julia Shondelmayer), two daughters, Angie (Mrs. Walter Fulton) of Toronto, Alice (Mrs. Murray Marshall) of Middlebrook; three sons, Ervin S. of Elmira, Harold of Jordan, Arthur of Elora and four grandsons. Also surviving are three brothers, Jacob of Petoskey, Mich., Adam of Kitchener, David of Elmira and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Sherrer and Mrs. Bradley, both of Kitchener.

    The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon with a service at his late home in Upper Pilkington at 2: 30 pm followed by a short service at the Elmira Cemetery where interment will be made.

    Passing of Adam Riffer Mourned
    Well know Elmira Resident Succumbed Following Stroke; Was Born in Germany

    Adam Riffer was called by death August 1, at the age of 75 years 8 months and 9 days. At the time of his death and for almost six years previously he resided with his son-in-law Mr. Ervin Hoffer.

    The late Adam Riffer was born in Kreis Alsfeld, Hessen, Germany on November 23, 1853 and as a youth immigrated to Canada settling in Waterloo County. He resided in Philipsburg, New Hamburg and finally located in Elmira where his wife predeceased him about six years ago. Two children also predeceased him. Two sons and two daughters survive; Norman of Kitchener; Edward of St. Catharines; Nora, (Mrs. Ervin Hoffer of Elmira) and Salome (Mrs. Garnegie) of Niagara Falls; also ten grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.

    Mr. Riffer suffered a paralytic stroke several years ago and another a few days previous to his death. Mr. Riffer was beloved and respected by all who knew him. He was actively interested in church work and had served as a Sunday School worker some years ago.

    His funeral which was largely attended was held from his home to St. James's Lutheran Church where a service was conducted by Rev. S. J. Wittig of Conestogo, following which interment was made in St. James's Cemetery.

    The numerous floral tributes testified to the esteem in which he was held by the community and friends. The pallbearers were William Rahn, John Klinck, Henry Cress, Fred Hecktus, Albert Lorch, Fred Siegner.

    Adam Riffer Dead

    Death claimed another of Elmira's pioneers in the person of Adam Riffer, aged 75 years. who died on Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. S. Hoffer. Born in Greis Seld, Hesson, Germany, the late Mr. Hoffer came to this country with his parents when only nine years of age. He has resided in Elmira during the past 45 years. He married Catherine Zimmerman, who predeceased him six years. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, E. J. Riffer, St. Catharines; Salome, (Mrs. H. M. Carnegie), Niagara Falls, N. Y.; Norman Riffer, Kitchener, and Eleanor, (Mrs. E. A. Hoffer), Elmira.

    Although the late Mr. Riffer had been ill for the passed several years. his death on Thursday was unexpected.

    the funeral was held on Saturday afternoon from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. E. S. Hoffer, to St. James Lutheran Church for services, thence to the Elmira cemetery for burial. Rev. L. Kalbfleisch conducted the, services.

    Family Party Honors Couple On Anniversary

    MOOREFIELD A family get-together was held Sunday on the farm of Harry Allendorf, concession 8, Maryborough, a mile west, of Moorefield, for the golden wed- ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Borth of Moorefield.

    Mr. Borth was born 75 years ago on concession 12 of McKillop, north of Dublin. At three, his family moved to Logan township, and Mr. Borth grew up near Brodhagen. While learning the carpenry trade he received 50c a day.

    MET IN FLORADALE

    He met his wife in Floradale. They were married in his father- in-law's home. For a honeymoon, The couple went to Stratford to visit relatives, and thence to Mitchell, where Mr. Borth's people were then living. They were married by Rev, Emil
    Reuchter of Floradale who now lives in the United States. Mr. Borth farmed for 29 years a mile south of Moorefield and
    Carried on his trade.

    HAVE 23 DESCENDANTS

    They have seven children, Mrs. Harry Allendorf of the eighth of Maryborough, Mrs. Walter Fach of Elmira, Julius and Hilbert of Moorefield and Harry, Mrs. Betty Heidrich and Carl, all of Kitchener. They also have 14 grandchilden and two great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Charles Borth, 82, of Moorefield, died Friday at Sc. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener.

    She was the former Maria Elizabeth heist, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Reist of Maryborough Township.

    She moved to Floradale in 1904 after her marriage and lived there until 1920 when she and her husband moved to Moorefield.


    Mrs. Borth was a member of Moorefield Presbyterian Church, St. Andrew's Womens' Missionary Society and the Ladles Aid.

    Surviving are her husband; four sons, Julius and Gilbert of Moorefield and Harry and Carl of Kitchener, three daughters, Mrs. Harry
    (Mabel) Allendorf of Moorefield, Mrs. Walter (Florence) Fach of Hanover and Mrs. William (Betty) Hedrech of Kitchener' two brothers,
    Addison and Irvine Reist of Peel Township; three sisters, Mrs. Emery (Florence) Ruby of Kitchener Mrs. Edward (Emma) Ruggle of
    Floradale and Mrs. A. (Martha) Eby of Elmira and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

    The body rested at the Miller Funeral Home, Palmerston until 2 p.m. Monday. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Alex Clements. Burial
    was in Bethesda Cemetery.
