    TAVISTOCK - Wendy Marie Ruby, three-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruby, Tavistock, died last night at her home.

    Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Linda and Cathy: paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Ruby of Millbank and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Riepert of St. Agatha.

    The body is at the James. H. Francis Funeral Home, Tavistock, where the funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Paul Browse of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Erbsville, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Ruby, Albert Russell - Peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Stratford General Hospital. He resided at RR 1, Milverton and was born 75 years ago, in Topping. He was the son of the late Noah and Fannie (Kropf) Ruby. Albert was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Milverton. Albert enjoyed farming on his farms and was the former owner of the Oxford Hotel in Tavistock and the Mansion House in Stratford. Beloved husband of the former Marlene Riepert, who he married December 18, 1954. Dear father of Linda and her husband Dave Heimpel of Georgetown, Catherine (Cathy) and her fiance Tony Rebelo of Stratford, Pamela Ruby-Hill and her husband Edward Hill of Walkerton, Dale and his wife Angie Ruby of Neustadt. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Dana, James, Nicole, Brandon and Tayler and step-grandchildren, Ashton and Avery. Also missed by sisters, Wilma and her husband Pearlous (Joe) Berberich of Kitchener, Aurla Bannerman of Brantford, Sharon and her husband Don Carrothers of Waterloo and brother, Audie and his wife Yvonne (Curly) Ruby of Waterloo; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Esther Ruby of Stoney Creek, Ron Hartung of Drayton, Ruth Riepert of Windsor, Bob and his wife Shirley Riepert of Milverton, Pat and her husband Hank Schmitz of Cambridge, Shirley and her husband John Malcho of Stratford. Albert was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Marie in infancy; brother, Earl and his wife Joan Ruby; sister-in-law, Connie Hartung; brothers-in-law, Terry Riepert and Bill Bannerman. There will be no funeral home visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Albert's life will take place on Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Milverton at 2 p.m., with Pastor Dwight Biggs officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Stratford General Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Lung Association. Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, Milverton were entrusted with the arrangements.

    Ruby, Noah, son of Nicholas and Barbara (Bender) Ruby, was born in Oxford Co., Ont., Nov. 5, 1886; died at his home near Milverton, Ont., June 25, 1961; aged 74 y. 7 m. 20 d. On Dec. 16, 1921, he was married to Veronica Kropf, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Earl, Kitchener; Albert and Audly, of Tavistock), 3 daughters (Wilma-Mrs. P. Berberich, Bridgeport; Aurla-Mrs. Wm. Bannerman, Brantford; and Sharon, at home), 2 brothers (Joseph, New Hamburg; and David, Milverton), and 17 grandchildren. A brother and one sister predeceased him. Funeral services were conducted at the Poole Church, June 28, in charge of Herbert Schultz, Amos Brunk, and Christian Brunk.

    Ruby. - Barbara Bender, beloved wife of Nichlaus Ruby, was born Feb. 26, 1859, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Feb. 13, 1925, at her late home in Perth Co., Ont.; aged 65 y. 11 m. 18 d. She was married to Nichlaus Ruby Jan. 25, 1881. To this union were born 4 sons and 1 daughter. She leaves her sorrowing husband, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters, an aged aunt, and a host of friends and relatives. In her young years she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, joined the A. Mennonite Church, and was faithful to the end. Sister Ruby was of a quiet disposition. Her devoted Christian life talked louder than her words. In her sickness she was patient, enjoyed to repeat scripture verses and sacred songs, and was desirous to go over yonder to her heavenly home. The funeral was held on Feb. 17. Services conducted at the home by Peter Zehr, and at the Poole A. Mennonite Church by Jacob R. Bender and Peter Boshart. Text, Psa. 8: 5. Interment in the cemetery nearby.

    Mr. Simon Kropf

    Death came with startling suddenness to Mr. Simon Kropf of this town last Thursday afternoon, October 6th. He was hauling in corn from the field of Mr. Joseph Bender, which is also the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bender. He was bringing in a load of corn and when the horses stopped a short distance away from the barn his son-in-law and others went to see what was wrong and found Mr. Kropf dead on the load of corn stalks. A doctor was immediately summoned to the scene and he pronounced death due to a sudden heart attack. The remains were taken to the house and were late removed to his home on Moyer street in New Hamburg. The late Mr. Kropf was born near Wellesley on November 22nd, 1875. In October 1897 he married Barbara Albrecht. They resided near Poole until about seven years ago where they moved to New Hamburg. In religion Mr. Kropf was a member of the Amish Mennonite Church. He leaves to mourn his sudden demise, his wife, four sons and five daughters, namely; Joseph, of South Easthope, Ezra, Alvin and Albert at home, (Lavina) Mrs. William Pauli, of New Hamburg, (Clara) Mrs. Herman Krueger, of Kitchener, (Fanny) Mrs. Noah Ruby, of Millbank, (Katie) Mrs. Milton Koehler, of Kitchener, (Lena) Mrs. Ivan Bender, of Wilmot, and Miss Barbara of Mimico. Four brothers and four sisters also survive, Mrs. M. Leis, Miss Mattie and Miss Anna, of Wellesley, and Mrs. Christian Litwiller, of New Hamburg, Rudy of St. Agatha, John of St. Clements, David of Waterloo and Christian, of Kitchener. The funeral took place on Sunday forenoon from his late home to the Poole A.M. Church and Cemetery and was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family in their sad loss.

    Milverton, July 13 - The death of Mrs. Barbara Kropf of Waterloo, widow of Simon Kropf, occurred at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Noah Roby of near Millbank, yesterday, at the age of 71 years. Mrs. Kropf had enjoyed the best of health until four weeks ago. A daughter of the late George Albrecht and Mary Hammar, she was born in Ellice Township, June 12, 1874. On Oct. 28, 1897, she married Simon Kropf and they took up residence on a farm near Topping where they lived until moving to New Hamburg in 1926. During the past two years Mrs. Kropf has lived in Waterloo. She was a member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1932 and one son, Joseph, in 1933, and she is survived by three sons, Ezra, Alvin and Albert of Waterloo, and six daughters, Mrs. William (Lavina) Pauli, New Hamburg; Mrs. Noah (Fanny) Ruby, Millbank; Mrs. Herman (Clara) Kreuger, Mrs. Milton (Katie) Koehler and Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Oakley of Kitchener, and Mrs. Ivan (Lena) Bender of Woodstock. One sister, Mrs. Jacob Kuepfer of Tavistock, 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Four brothers and three sisters predeceased her. The funeral will be held on Sunday with private service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby, near Millbank at 1: 30, followed by public service at Poole Amish Mennonite Church at 2: 15. Internment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Christian Schultz of Poole will conduct the services.
