He was born in the village of Bolton, where he resided until coming to Ayr some 27 years ago. He was well known to railroad men all along the line between here and Detroit, having been employed by the CPR for over 35 years. Deceased was of a genial, kindly temperament and was much esteemed and respected by all those with whom he came in contact, and by his death the village loses a worthy citizen. In religion he was a Presbyterian, being a member of Stanley St. Church, and in politics a staunch Liberal, and was also a member of the Independent Order of Foresters. His wife predeceased him about ten years. The surviving children are: Margaret of Ayr, George of Salmon Arm, B.C., and John of Galt.
