    Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener. Walter was a resident of Winston Park, Kitchener and was formerly of Philipsburg. He was born 89 years ago and was the son of the late Elmer and Ella (Seyler) Doering. He farmed in Philipsburg until his retirement in 1993. Walter was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg. Beloved husband of Ruth E. Doering who predeceased him on October 29, 2009. Loving father of Ronald Doering (Susan) of Waterloo, Robert Doering (Dee Hughes) and Mark (Tammy) Doering all of Kitchener. Sadly missed by grandchildren Grant (Erica), Heather, Shaun (Patty), Chris (Tina), Samantha (Matt), Elizabeth (Tayler), Brett, Madelynn, Patrick, Kylene (Tyler) and by great-grand- children Brayden, Ava, Atley, Sawyer and Liam. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Norma (Armand) Weiler and Karolyn Heubner as well as many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his brother-in-law Norris Heubner.     Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. Ruth was a resident of Kitchener and was formerly of Philipsburg. She was born 76 years ago in Wellesley Township a daughter of the late Allan and Clara (Lautenschlager) Berg. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg where she was a member of the ELW. Ruth was an avid quilter and enjoyed bowling, knitting and going for walks with her close friends. Beloved wife of Walter Doering who she married January 17, 1953. Loving mother of Ronald Doering of Waterloo and fiancé Ginnie Timpson of Hespeler, Robert Doering and Dee Hughes, Mark and Tammy Doering, all of Kitchener. Sadly missed by grandchildren Grant, Heather, Christopher, Michael, Shaun, Chris, Samantha, Elizabeth, Brett, Madelynn, Patrick, Kylene and by great-grandchildren Brayden and Ava. Lovingly remembered by sisters Esther Hoerle of New Hamburg, Dorothy and Elmer Lantz of Wellesley, and by sisters-in-law Norma and Armand Weiler of Baden, and Karolyn Heubner of Kitchener, as well as by many nieces and nephews.     NEW HAMBURG - Elmer H. Doering, 61, died at his home in Philipsburg early today. A son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Andrew Doering, he was born on the same farm where he died. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg. His wife, the former Ella Seyler, whom he married in 1926 survives. Also surviving are a son, Walter, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Armand (Norma) Weiler of Baden and Karolyn at home and two brothers, Theodore and Louis of Philipsburg. One grandchild also survives. One brother predeceased him last year. The body is at the Futher-Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until Sunday noon when removal will be made to the residence. A private service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the residence, followed by a memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. D. H. Stewart will officiate.

    There died at Philipsburg on Saturday, November 13th, Henry Andrew Doering, aged 81 years and 4 months. The deceased was born at Philipsburg on July 14, 1845. He was the second son of the late Andrew Doering who immigrated from Alsfeldt, Germany and located on a homestead at Philipsburg. The late Mr. Doering was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Eva Schmidt, daughter of the late Jacob Schmidt, of North Easthope, in the year 1866. The union was blessed with ten children, seven sons and three daughters, namely, Christina (Mrs. Geo. Lantz), of Philipsburg, David (deceased), Miss Millie, at home, Andrew, of Wellesley, Louis, of Kitchener, Henry, of North Easthope, Ella (Mrs. C.L. Forler) of Philipsburg, Theodore, Edwin and Elmer all of Philipsburg. The mother and all the children with the exception of one son, David, who died at the age of three years, remain to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. There also remains to mourn his loss, 29 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mr. Abel Doering and Mrs. John L. Eidt, a brother and sister also survive. He resided on the farm on which he was born up to a few weeks ago when he retired to the new home in the village. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of Philipsburg and a trustee of the same for many years up to the time of his demise and did much to forward the welfare of his church.

    In his younger years he was also an active member of the public-school board and for some years a member of the municipal council of the Township of Wilmot.

    The funeral took place from his late residence on Wednesday to the Lutheran Church and cemetery, the church being filled to its utmost capacity.

    Friends and relatives were in attendance from Kitchener, Waterloo, New Hamburg, Tavistock, Shakespeare, Wellesley, Bamberg and other points. Among the floral tributes were a pillow from the family and a wreath from the grandchildren. The pallbearers were the six surviving sons of the deceased.

    Death of Mrs. H. Doering

    There died at Philipsburg on Jan. 1st, Anna Eve Schmidt, wife of Henry Andrew Doering, who predeceased her over two years ago. Deceased was born in North Easthope and was a daughter of the late Jacob Schmidt and Margaret Pfeffer. Deceased lived with her parents on the farm until the year 1866 when she was united in marriage to Henry Andrew Doering of Philipsburg and there resided on the farm adjoining the village until two and a half years ago they moved to their home in the village. The union was blessed with 7 sons, and 3 daughters, namely: Christena, Mrs. Geo. Lantz, of Philipsburg. David (deceased) Miss Millie at home, Andrew of Wellesley, Louis of Kitchener, Henry of North Easthope, Ella. Mrs. C. L. Forler (deceased), Theodore, Edwin and Elmer, all of Philipsburg. There remain to mourn the loss of a loving mother, the above named children, 29 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.

    The funeral (private) will take place from her late residence on Friday, Jan. 4th. at 2 p.m. to the Philipsburg Lutheran Church for service, of which she was a life long member. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery here. Deceased attained the ripe age of 83 years. May she rest in peace.

    David Seyler

    A former well known and esteemed resident of Philipsburg, Mr. David Seyler, passed away at his home in Baden on Tuesday, Jan. 20th, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 10 days. He had been ill for several months.

    The deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Seyler and was born in Wilmot on Nov. 10, 1867. He was married on June 1, 1901, to Leah Wettlaufer and farmed successfully for many years at Philipsburg. Six years ago he disposed of the farm to his son, Clayton, and retired to Baden. In religion the deceased was a Lutheran and a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church at Philipsburg and took active part in church work. Since residing in Baden he was also a member of the Lutheran church there.

    Besides his widow, he leaves in bereavement two sons, Nelson, in North Easthope, and Clayton, on the homestead, two daughters, (Ella), Mrs. Elmer Doering, of Philipsburg, and Viola, at home, two sisters, Mrs. Conrad Quehl and Mrs. John Heimpel, Wellesley.

    The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home in Baden to Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg, for service. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. G. R. Schultz, the pastor, will be in charge of the funeral services

    Mr. and Mrs. Adam Lautenschlager, of Petersburg, on Saturday celebrated the golden anniversary of their wedding with a family dinner at which all but two of the seven children attended. Before her marriage Mrs. Lautenschlager was Miss Barbara Wagner, of Wellesley, while Mr. Lautenschlager was born in Petersburg. The happy couple have resided on the farm where they now live with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Neeb, since their marriage in Wellesley on February 14th, 1882.
