    Poole.

On Tuesday last, 28th inst., this locality sustained a heavy loss indeed in the death of Mr. David N. Kropf. He had been unwell mostly all fall and was taking medical advice, but his most intimate neighbors had no suspicion of that grim messenger claiming him so soon; however it is only another proof that "in the midst of life we are in death." Mr. Kropf had but recently passed his 48th milestone, his remains were interred in the Amish burying ground here on Friday, 1st inst. and the funeral was attended by a large number of people, the deceased having been widely and favorably known and was always admitted to be one of the handiest men in the neighborhood. He was able to be arouud until about two hours before his death. A widow and family of eleven are left to mourn his demise, to whom is extended the sympathy of the neighborhood. A strange coincidence in connection with Mr. Kropf's death was that he was an executor of the estate of his brother the late Solomon Kropf, and being anxious to get the business wound up, was having a sale of the land and some of his own stock. Whilst the sale was going on his spirit took its flight.... Mrs. and Mr. Wm. P. Anderson of Tralee attended the funeral of the late Mr. D. N. Kropf and besides spent a few days amongst relatives and friends....

She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior in her youth, united with the Amish Mennonite Church, and was faithful to the end. She was a strong, healthy woman till about a year ago when it was discovered that she had cancer under her arm. She took electric treatment which proved a success. She suffered very much of the burn of the last treatment, but was healing nicely when light paralytic strokes set in, one after another, which ended her life in a short time. Funeral services May 26, conducted at the house by Daniel Lebold, and at the Poole Mennonite Church by Christian Zehr and Christian Schultz. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.
