    A Respected Citizen Gone
    John K. Forler Dies This Morning


    Mr. John K. Forler, a respected citizen, died this morning at 8:30 o'clock, after a short illness, at his residence, 140 Wellington street. During the past three months he had been troubled with dropsy of the heart but not in severe form. He was able to discharge his duties, as an employee of Messrs. J. G. Kreiner & Co., until a week ago Tuesday and it was not until Monday of this week that he took to his bed.
    Mr. Forler was born in Wellesley and lived there until November of last year. He was aged 54 years, 11 months and 3 days. The funeral will be held on Monday, July 21, at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence to Mount Hope cemetery.
    Mrs. Forler and the children are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. The children, Miss Mary, Karl and Miss Frieda all reside at home.

    Mr. Forler has five brothers and three sisters living. These are: George of New Hamburg; William and Henry of Wellesley; Louis of Detroit and Jacob of Berlin. The sisters are: Mrs. Henry Schmidt of Hamstead, Ont; Mrs. James O'Donnell of Yale, Mich., and Miss Emma Forler of Sutherland, Sask.

    Mr. Forler was a consistent member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. The family will receive the sympathy of many friends and acquaintenances in their heavy bereavement. The Record offers them its condolences.

    Wellesley

    The sad news was received here with much regret of the death of Mr. John K. Forler of Berlin last Friday, and formerly of Wellesley. Interment took place Monday afternoon at Berlin. He leaves a sorrowing widow, one son and two daughters to mourn his loss. The bereaved family have the sympathy of this entire community in their sad affliction.

    MRS. MARGARET FORLER

    Following a brief illness, Mrs. Margaret Forler, 85, died early this morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Voege, 159 Fisher St. Waterloo. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, Carl Bickert. MrsForler was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, Waterloo. She was predeceased by her husband, John K. Forler, in 1913. She is survived by a son, Carl of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Voege and Mrs. William (Friede) Ray, both of Waterloo. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Jacob Miller, of Galt, and two brothers, John, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Harry, of Bay City. Mich.: four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private funeral service will be held from her late residence, Saturday afternoon, at 215. Following this a public service will be conducted at the Church of Our Redeemer, by Rev. C. T. Wotzstein. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Remains are now resting at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, but will be removed to the residence of Mrs. Voege, at three o'clock, Friday.

    JACOB K. FORLER

    On Monday morning, Feb. 17th, the death took place at Wellesley, of Mr. Jacob K. Forler, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 7 days. Mr. Forler had been indisposed for several days, but his condition was not considered serious, and his sudden death came as a great shock to his many friends.

    Deceasced was born in Wilmot Township in 1834. He was married to Maria Koch, who predeceased him 12 years ago: They moved to Wellesley about 56 years ago and lived there up to the time of his death. Eleven, children, six sons and five daughters were wore born to them. Two daughters predeceased him, one in infancy and Henry Duench of Berlin about 3 years ago. The surviving, children are John, Berlin; Mrs. J O'Donell, Yale, Mich,; George New Hambur; Jacob, of Berlin; Mrs. H. Schmidt, of Hampstead; Henry and William, of Wellesley; Louis of Detroit; and Emma, of Berlin. Besides the one brothers Christian, of Elmwood, 35 grand children and 8 great grand children are left to mourn his loss.

    The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19 th to the Missouri Lutheran cemetery.

    FORLER - In Wellesley village, on Thursday, Jan. 10th, 1901, Mary Koch, wife of Mr. Jacob K. Forler, aged 62 years, eight months and one day.

    The death of Mrs. Forler, early last Tuesday morning, although not unexpected, created a profound sensation of sorrow in this village where she has continuously resided for 43 years and has always been held in the very highest esteem. She was born in Neustrelitz, Mechlenberg Schwerein, Germany, and came to Canada with her father in 1854, settling at Petersburg. In 1856 she was married to Mr. Forler in Berlin, removing to this village two years later where they have resided ever since. Besides her bereaved husband she leaves a sorrowing family of ten children Mrs. Henry Duench, George, Henry, William and Emma, in Wellesley; Jon, in Wiarton; Mrs. Jas. O'Donnell, Yale Mich.; Mrs. Henry Smith, Hamstead; Jacob, Ayr; and Louis, of Detroit. All the children were at her bedside when she passed away. Mrs. Forler was taken ill in the latter part of June last since which time she has never been able to leave her bed. The funeral occurred on Sunday, Rev. D. Lochner conducting the impressive services in the presence of an immense congregation, many people not being able t get into the church. Deceased's six sons acted as pallbearers. Among the relatives and friends present at the funeral from a distance were: Mr. Chris Forler (brother of Mr. J. K.     Died At Wellesley

    Mr. Chas. Bickert died at Wellesley on Sunday forenoon at 10.30 o'clock. The deceased was 83 years of age and spent most of his life in Wellesley. Two sons and three daughters survive John in France with the American Army; Harry at Bay City, Mich. Mrs. John K. Forler of this city, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Schmidt at Wellesley. The deceased had twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.     Mr. Valentine Bickert, assistant city editor of the Milwauke [sic] Daily Herald, is in the village at present on account of the death of his mother, Mrs. Chas. Bickert. Although - absent for a long time "Val" has many friends here who are pleased to know he is doing honor to our village in a distant city. His is accompanied by his daughter on this trip. The death of Mrs. Charles Bickert which occured [sic] at her home in this village at six o'clock yesterday (Wednesday) morning, created profound sorrow amongst her hosts of friends. Mrs. Bickert (nee Miss Anna Elizabeth Moeller) was born in Arnsheim, Grand Duchy of Hessin Germany, on April 13, 1835. Her marriage to Mr. Chas. Bickert occurred [sic] in 1859, and with her husband and family she emigrated, settling in Wellesley in 1872, remaining here continuously since that time. The family comprised eight children . Two of them died very young one. Friedricka, being buried at sea and another, Ernst, in the WellesIey cemetery. The living children are : Mrs. John Forler, Wellesley ; Mr. John Bickert, of Grand Rapids, Mich; Mrs. Jacob Miller, Wellesley, Mr. Valentine Bickert, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mr. Henry Bickert, Wellesley ; Mrs. Peter Schmidt, Wellesley. Deceased had been in poor health for the past three years, but was able to be about until the last four months. The immediate cause of death was diabetes. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, interment being in the St Paul's (Miss.) cemetery.
