    LEIS, Rev. Alvin D. - With sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Rev. Alvin Leis, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener.

    Alvin resided on his farm at RR 1, Wellesley. Born in Wellesley Township 78 years ago, he was a son of the late John B. Leis and the late Barbara Gascho and step-son of the late Sarah Albrecht.

    Mr. and Mrs. Leis had farmed in Wellesley Township most of their lives. The Rev. Leis was ordained a Deacon April 24. 1960. He was also ordained a Minister at the Mapleview Mennonite Congregation, December 11, 1966, serving as Pastor until 1985. He was also the former treasurer of the Western Ontario Mennonite Conference.

    Beloved husband of Idella Kathleen (Kropf) Leis, whom he married June 8, 1935. Dear father of Albert and his wife Irene Leis of Poole, Shirley and her husband Howard Roth of Tavistock. Dear brother of Ervin Leis of Wellesley, Katie (Mrs. Elmer Lebold) of New Hamburg, Edna (Mrs. John Roth) of New Hamburg; brother-in-law of Viola Leis of Baden and Beatrice Leis of Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren, Philip, Timothy, Deborah, Wanda Roth, Charlotte, Jennifer, Jeffrey Leis and also by six great grandchildren.

    He was predeceased by four brothers, Allan, Norman, Abner and John and by seven sisters, Salome, Barbara, Sarah, Emma, Nancy, Mary and Alma and also by one grandson, Myron Roth.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Saturday, Feb. 22, removal will be made to Mapleview Mennonite Church for the service at 2 p.m., Pastor Victor Dorsch will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Rev. Alvin Leis.

    Idella Leis passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at the Stratford General Hospital. Idella was born October 25, 1915 in South Easthope Township. Daughter of the late John Kropf and Mary Ann Lichti. Wife of the late Rev. Alvin Leis. Loving mother of Albert and Irene of Poole, Shirley, Mrs. Howard Roth of Tavistock. Brothers, Clarence and Jean of Stratford, Elton and Sylvia of Tavistock. Sisters Barbara Roth of Stratford, Janet and George Rush of Kitchener, Bernetta and Ralph Ruby of Chatham, Mary Ellen and Steve Gingerich of Zurich. Sisters-in-law, Selina Zehr of Milverton and Viola Leis of New Hamburg. Grandchildren Philip and Joyce Roth, Tim and Melody Roth, Debra and Fred Kindler, Wanda and Doug Amstutz, Charlotte and Lorne Gould, Jennifer Leis, Jeff and Sherri Leis. Twelve great grandchildren. Predeceased by one grandson, brothers Mervin and Earl Kropf, sister Irene Albrecht, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Doris Kropf, brother-in-law Menno Albrecht. Visitation was held on Friday, August 9 at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 1172 Henry St. Wellesley. At noon on Saturday, August 10, 2002 removal was made to the Maple View Mennonite, for the funeral service a 2: 00 p.m. Rev. Bruce Sawatsky officiated. Burial following in the church cemetery. Donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, Maple View Mennonite Church Building Fund or a charity of one's choice.

On Jan. 9, 1899, he was married to Barbara Gascho, who preceded him in death Nov. 28, 1918. On June 28, 1921, he was married to Sarah Steinman, who died Dec. 25, 1921. Surviving are 6 sons (John, Allan, Abner, Alvin, Norman, and Ervin), 4 daughters (Salome, Emma - Mrs. Aaron Gascho, Katie - Mrs. Elmer Lebold, and Alma - Mrs. Clarence Roth), one stepdaughter (Edna - Mrs. John Roth), 44 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one brother (Joseph).     John R. Kropf, 87, of Wellesley, died Sunday at his home.

    The deceased was born in Wellesley Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Kropf.

    He was a member of Mapleview Mennonite Church.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Ann Lichti; sons, Mervin, Route 3, Wellesley; Clarence, of Kitchener; Elton of Holstein; daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Barbara) Roth of Waterloo; Mrs. Alvin (Idella) Leis, of Route 1, Wellesley; Mrs. George (Janet) Rush, of Kitchener; Mrs. Ralph

    (Bernetta) Ruby, of Chatham; Mrs. Steven (Mary Ellen) Gingerich, of Zurich; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.

    The body rested at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley until Tuesday when removal was made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church for the service at 2:30 p.m.

    Burial followed in the church cemetery.
