    ROTH, Mrs. Elmer (Esther) - On Friday, Sept. 24, 1982, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Esther Roth, of 14 Molesworth St.. N., Wellesley. Mrs. Roth was born in Wellesley, 62 years ago.

    She was the daughter of the late Moses S. Leis and the late Magdaline Schultz. She was a lifelong member of Mapleview Mennonite Church.

    She is survived by her brothers-in-law; Ernest Roth of RR 1 Wellesley, David and Michael Roth of Wellesley, Alvin and John Roth of London, Milton Roth of Toronto, sisters-in-law; Nancy (Mrs. Aaron Bast) of RR 3, Wellesley and Barbara (Mrs. Nelson Zehr) of RR 1. St. Agatha. Also survived by a number of cousins.

    Predeceased by her husband, Elmer on January 2, 1962.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home in Wellesley after 7 p.m. this evening. At noon Monday, Sept. 27, removal will be made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 30, Rev. Alvin Leis and Rev. Jacob Roes will officiate. Interment will follow in Mapleview Mennonite Cemetery.

    Expressions of sympathy may be shown by contributions to the Western Ontario Mennonite Mission board or the Ontario Heart Foundation.

    Schultz. - John L. Schultz was born near Petersburg, Ont., Jan. 25, 1859. On May 3, 1934, early in the morning, by chance with a truck he left at the home of his son-in-law and daughter in Wellesley, (where he was residing the last few years), for Shakespeare, about 15 miles from the home, to see a doctor for some minor ailments. Just before entering the house of the doctor he dropped down and in a few minutes expired; aged 75 y. 3 m. 9 d. He was married to Catherine Boshart in 1878, who preceded him June 7, 1925. To this union were born 2 sons and 4 daughters. One son died in infancy. There remain Moses of Baden, Ont.; Mattie (Mrs. Moses Leis) of Wellesley, Ont., where he was residing; Katie, Lizzie (Mrs. Bingaman) of Kitchener, Ont.; Anne (Mrs. Dan Schlabach), Guernsey, Sask. He had a sister who died a number of years ago, who was the mother of Bro. Amos Swartzentruber, missionary in S. America. In his youth he was baptized and received into the Amish Mennonite Church, by his grandfather, the later Peter Litwiller, bishop then of the Wilmot Church, who was the great-grandfather of Bro. Nelson Litwiller, also of S. America, and was faithful to the end. Funeral services May 6, by Bro. Dan Lebold at the home and at the Wilmot church by Bro. Chris Gascho, and Bro. Dan Jutzi.     Schultz. - Catherine Boshart was born near Wellesley, Ont., June 7, 1856; died in Baden, Ont., June 7, 1925; aged 69 years. She united in marriage with John L. Schultz, Dec 31, 1878. This union was blessed with 2 sons and 4 daughters. One son died in infancy. She leaves a sorrowing husband, 1 son, 4 daughters, 4 grandchildren, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and a host of friends and relatives. Her health was failing the last few years, but she was always willing to yield to the will of the Lord and was glad when the time was nearing that she could go over yonder to her long-desired home. She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior, united with the Amish Mennonite Church in her youth, and was faithful to the end. Funeral was held June 10. Services at the house by J. R. Bender and at the St. Agatha Church by D. S. Jutzi, Daniel Steinman, and Osias Cressman. Laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. "We miss her, O how sadly, None but aching hearts can tell; We have lost her, Heaven has found her, Our Father doeth all things well." P. B.

    LEIS.-Joseph Leis of near Wellesley, Waterloo Co., Ont., was born in Bavaria on the 9th of February 1817 and died on the 6th of July 1896, aged 79 years, 4 months and 27 days. He came to this country in his youth. He was married to Catherine Kennel. They lived in matrimony 52 years, 3 months and 17 days. He leaves his sorrowing widow, nine sons and four daughters and forty-three grandchildren. He lived in the house which he erected in the primeval forests of "Upper Canada" fifty-two years ago and his was the first death that occurred in the house. He was a faithful member of the Old Amish branch of the church, and died of paralysis and the infirmities of old age. A large concourse of friends followed his remains to the Wellesley graveyard on the 9th. Funeral services by Christian Gascho, Christian Zehr and John Gascho.

    Death of Mrs. Leis

    The death of Mrs. Leis, widow of the late Joseph Leis, occurred at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Chr. J. Lichty, just east of Crosshill, on Thursday last, aged 76 years and four months. Deceased was one of the very earliest of residents of this section, coming here with her father, Mr. Kennel, who settled on the eastern border of Wellesley when she was a mere child. Since that time she has always lived here, and throughout her long and useful life she retained the highest respect of all. Besides a large number of descendants and relatives, Mrs. Leis leaves a family of thirteen children: Noah, John, Magdelene (Mrs. P. Jantzi), Chris., Jos., David, Daniel, Catherine (Mrs. C. J. Lichty), Menno, Barbara (Mrs. C. Gingerich), Jacob, Phronica (Mrs. N. Roth), and Solomon. These children are all living and settled in this neighborhood, and all of them attended the large funeral which occurred on Sunday last at the Mennonite Church, 3rd line.

    Magdalena Boshart (nee Burge) was born Nov. 16, 1827; died at the home of her son Jonas near St. Agatha, Ont., May 4, 1914; aged 86 y. 5 m. 19 d. Her husband, Peter Boshart, departed this life July 21, 1893. They lived in matrimony 41 y. 9 d. To this union were born 4 sons and 6 daughters. She leaves to mourn her departure 4 sons, 4 daughters, 39 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. She united with the A. M. Church in her youth, and was faithful to the end. Funeral services at the St. Agatha A. M. Church by C. S. Zehr (text, II Tim. 4: 7,8), and C. B. Zehr (text, I Pet. 1: 22-25).
