    MacCANDLESS, Donald Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener. Don, at the age of 79 years, was formerly of Elmira. Husband of the late Donna (Baetz) MacCandless. Father of Dori and Paul Wey of Kitchener, Doneen Blum of Goderich, and the late Dennis MacCandless. Grandfather of Shawn (Candice) Diebold of Kitchener, Justin Diebold of Wasaga Beach, Lened Bonilla of Goderich, Donnalee (Chris) Moore of Goderich, Kayleigh Bonilla of Sarnia and great-grandfather of Tristan Diebold of Hanover, Kai-Ya Diebold of Kitchener, Knox Diebold of Kitchener and Emmalee Moore of Goderich. Brother of Elgin (Grace) MacCandless of Elmira, Mary Hilker of Waterloo, Cora (Mike) Geffros of Port Huron, MI, and Gerald (Audrey) MacCandless of Elmira. Predeceased by his parents, William and Edna MacCandless, brother Harold and sister Marjorie. At Don's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home Chapel, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. At noon on Wednesday transfer will be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira for funeral service at 1: 30 pm, with Rev. Wendell Grahlman officiating, followed by interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

    Herman Schlueter - by Record Correspondent - Linwood - Herman Frederick Schlueter, 79, of Linwood, died today at his home after a brief illness. He was born near Linwood July 18, 1883, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schlueter. He farmed near Linwood until 1953, when he retired to the village. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood. Surviving are his wife, the former Alberta Axt, whom he married in 1909; five sons, Oscar of Wellesley, Carl of Ingersoll, Roy of Drayton, Ross of Galt, Kenneth of Waterloo; five daughters, Mrs. William (Edna) McCandless of Conestogo, Mrs. Pearl Clemmer of Waterloo, Mrs. Douglas (Nettie) Brown of Ingersoll, Mrs. Clayton (Elnora) Riest of Baden, Mrs. Earl (Alberta) Weisgerber of Kitchener; a brother, John of RR 1, Wallenstein; 26 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, five brothers and two sisters predeceased him. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Friday noon, when removal will be made to his home. The body will be at the home until Saturday at 11 am, when removal will be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where service will be conducted at 2: 30 pm by Rev. A.L. Wedman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
