Death of Mrs. Robt. Cranston, of North Dumfries

An old and highly respected resident, has been called away, in the person of Mrs. Robert Cranston, sr., of North Dumfrles. Mrs. Cranston, whose maiden name was Jessie Vair, was born some fifty-four years ago, in Roseburghshire, Scotland. When twenty-six years of age, Mrs. Cranston, left the home of her birth and the land of her forefathers and came to Canada. Sometime after her arrival in this country, she was married to Mr. Robert Cranston, her surviving husband and with him took up her residence on a farm in Dumfries, where she has continued to reside, until her death, beloved and honored by all. Her demise, which occurred on Sunday morning, March 10th, at 2 o'clock, cut short a life devoted to the interests and welfare of her fellow beings and whose highest aim was the advancement of the church of God. For some time prior to her death, deceased was afflicted with cancer in the stomach, from which she could get no permanent relief and which was the ultimate cause of her demise. Mrs. Cranston was an earnest and consistent member of the Central Presbyterian church, of which her bereaved husband is an elder and where the bad news of her death will be received with sincere and heartfelt expressions of sorrow. One brother and two sisters of Mrs. Cranston survive her, one brother and a sister, in the old home of Scotland and a sister Mrs. Nesbitt, who resides in town.
